A convenience sampling method was utilized. 181 taxi drivers in Seoul metropolitan area completed survey questionnaires. Result: In bivariate analysis, payment system, workplace hazards, and work environment were associated with physical health of taxi drivers. Multiple regression analysis revealed payment system and workplace hazards were significant predictors of physical health. On the other hand, age and workplace hazards, and work environment were significantly associated with affective health in the bivariate analysis. Moreover, workplace hazards and environment were significant predictors of affective health in the multiple regression analysis. Conclusion: To improve taxi drivers' health status, it is critical to reform payment system to monthly payment, establish prevention policies of workplace hazards, and encourage employers and taxi drivers to make efforts for better work environment.

  • This research examines how various dimensions of physical environments influence employees' emotional responses in restaurants, and how these emotional responses, in turn, influence employees' group cohesiveness. The result of empirical research indicates that restaurant physical environments have a significant effect on employees' emotional responses, and that these psychological experiences serve as critical mediators in the physical environment-group cohesiveness relationship in restaurants. However, the effects of physical environ-ments of restaurants on employees' psychological responses varied with the dimensions of physical environ-ments. First, the effect of spatial layout and functionality on pleasure and dominance was significant, not on arousal. Second, ambient factors influence on all dimensions of emotional responses, including the arousal level. In turn, all dimensions of emotional responses have significant effects on employees' group cohesive-ness. Therefore, the result suggests that restaurants should manage(or, improve) their physical environment conditions for inducing employees' positive emotional responses.

  • Physical computing is performed through interaction with the real world making it suitable for cultivating student abilities in computing knowledge and thought processes. Furthermore, if users can develop programs under block-coding environment, it will be more easy and more intuitive. However, the existing block coding environment has a problem that the physical devices must be continuously connected to the computer. Blockly is an open source library that adds a visual code editor linked with graphic blocks to demonstrate coding concepts through web and mobile apps. Using Blockly, we describe a development environment for physical computing on mobile platform, which combines physical computing with an established block-coding environment, and activates it through wireless communication.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the physical characteristics of the detached housing area in the housing site development district. The process of this study is to investigate the characteristics of the physical structure and the building use, then to analyze the relationship of physical structure and the building use in the aspect of the morphological characteristics. The case study focuses on the Chil-kok2, An-Siml in Taegu. The streets pattern is composited gird and loop type mixed. The block is composited by 2 lots in general. But the obscurity of organization and character of the streets, the size and shape of lots which is not fit to the building use. A whole residential characters appears high residential density ratio. so residential environment became worse. The improving level of residential environment and efficiency of land use in the detached housing area of the housing site development district, firstly the propriety of the physical structure must be considered about detached house characters, and the housing uses which fit to the physical structure are needed, and also for the concrete realization of this, the designation of district, the zoning of residential area, the guideline of the district design, and establishment of comprehensive master planning in detached housing area are needed in aspect of the housing policy. As the result of this study, it suggests several design guideline to improve housing site development.

  • Objective: This study aimed to compare gait ability through gait evaluations in indoor and outdoor environments according to the general characteristics and walking ability of stroke patients. Design: Crossed-sectional study. Methods: The subjects of this study were 57 hospitalized stroke patients. The study subjects were asked to select an indoor environment and an outdoor environment in random order, and the Timed Up and Go Test (TUG), 10-Meter Walk Test (10MWT), Figure-Eight Walk Test (F8WT) and the Functional Gait Assessment (FGA) were used to assess each environment. Results: The TUG, 10MWT, F8WT time and number of steps, and FGA showed a significant decrease in gait ability in the outdoor environment compared to the indoor environment (p<0.05). Although the TUG, 10MWT, and the time required for the F8WT were statistically higher in the outdoor compared to the indoor environment at points 2, 3, and 4, but not 5 of the functional ambulatory category (FAC), significant increases in the number of steps of the F8WT were found in the outdoor compared to the indoor environment for only points 2 and 3 of the FAC (p<0.05). In the FAC 3 and 4, there was a statistically significant decrease in the outdoor compared to the indoor environment only in the FGA (p<0.05). Conclusions: Therefore, it has been shown that the gait ability of stroke patients is reduced in the outdoor environment compared to the gait ability in the indoor environment.
