  • This paper was made to evaluate the effect of the blending ration of GCC and No. 1 clay on the printability by investigating the structure of pore such as the pore rate, the number of pores, pore size and distribution of coated paper. The coated structure is mainly depended on the results of correlation between pigment and binder. It means that the structure of the pore occurred is chiefly affected by the blending ratio of GCC and No. 1 clay. This physical properties of the pore have a close relation with ink set-off associated with the drying rate and the penetration in ink into base paper and with printing gloss. Therefore it was needed to find out how the pore structure and the printability will be changed by modifying the blending ratio of GCC and No. 1 clay to vary the pore structure of coated paper. Below are the results of measurement: As the blending ratio of clay going up, water retention, sedimentation volume. smoothness, and paper gloss were increased, but relatively brightness and opacity were decreased. Pore rate was the highest at the blending ratio of No. 1 clay to GCC, 70:30. In this case, average pore radius was also increased. Ink receptivity and K&N ink receptivity were improved with the increase of the blending ratio of GCC, where was, ink setting was vice versa. No difference was observed in the weight of ink, but ink repellance decrease with the decrease of blending ratio of GCC.

  • The intention of this study is to investigate the properties of polymer blend, NBR/PVC vulcanizates and blending procedures such as roll-mixing temperatures and sequences for polymer blending of NBR and PVC(resin type). The results obtained are as follows: 1. The roll temperature applied for polymer blending is around $150^{\circ}C$. At this temperature region, the degradation of rubber stock, which may be caused by heat, can be minimized and mill processing in practical application in industries can also be facilitated. 2. It is obviously necessary that a small amount of plasticizers should be added to the stock for improving processibility of roll mixing and physical properties. 3. On roll-mixing sequence, it is more effective that PVC compounded with plasticizer is added to NBR milled on hot roll. 4. The vulcanizates of the blends with different degree of polymerization of PVC ale similar to one another in properties. 5. NBR/PVC(70/30) blends shows the better physical characters than eve,-made foreign latex blend except abrasion-resistance. 6. As PVC addition ratio is increased, the physical properties such as resistance to ozone, tear, heat and oil and tensile strength, modulus, hardness have also improved, on the other hand, tension set and rebound character decreased. 7. The curve of ultimate elongation have point of inflection at the ratio of $30\sim40$ part of PVC. 8. While CR is blended, the physical properties such as brittle point, rebound and resistance to oil in high temperature have improved. 9. Polymer blend of NBR and domestic PVC is applied for the industrial utility such as rubber sole and heel, electric wire cover and oil-resistant packing, coating and gasket, printing roll, film for food packing etc.

  • We have studied the blending effects of Diene NF 35 R and Alfin 1530 at various blending ratios, 100/0, 70/30, 50/50, 30/70, 0/100, and of carbon black HAF-HS and ISAF-HS at various compounding ratios of 45 PHR, 55 PHR, 65 PHR, for tyre tread rubber. As the results, it was found that; 1. For tyre tread rubber, as the blending ratio, AR 1530/Diene NF 35R, indicated 70/30, the physical properties we examined were most excellent. 2. Excellent result was obtained in the case of carbon black compounding ratio of 55 PHR. The compounding of ISAF-HS made better result than that of HAF-HS for tensile strength, but the compounding of HAF-HS made better result than that of ISAF-HS for tearing strength and best result for abrasion quantity. 3. Heat buildup obtained from compounding carbon black HAF-HS indicated low temperature than that from compounding carbon black HAP-HS. As the compounding amount of carbon black increased, and as the blending amount of AR 1530 decreased, the heat buildup increased. 4. Carbon black was more efficient to AR 1630 than io Diene NF 35 R. 5. In the physical properties, mooney viscosity and mooney scorch time, as the compounding amount of carbon black increased, the values of mooney viscosity increased, but that of mooney scorch time had a max. point at the compoundiug amount of carbon black, 55 PHR.

  • In this study, the strength properties of NHL based mortar with blending basalt fiber were investigated. In the first step, it was evaluated that physical properties of NHL based mortar according to mixing method of four types of basalt fiber and then mixing method of one type was selected. As a result of assessment, it showed that the physical properties with mixing method of dry blending were better than that of wet blending and mixing method that basalt fiber pre-mixed with NHL for 5 min in a blender was selected and water and aggregate were finally added. Secondly, the investigation of blending fiber length on the compressive and flexural strength for basalt fiber reinforced NHL based mortars was carried out. The compressive strength was decreased with adding fiber, and the flexural strength was increased more than plain mortar. In the case of adding 6 mm fiber, the compressive and flexural strength were improved more than that of others.

  • In this study, the effects of the relative humidity and storage time of blended tobaccos at total blending silo on cut tobacco equilibrium moisture contents, leaf moisture contents and migration of casing materials of tobacco types were investigated. To maintain the cutting moisture content(21 $\pm$ 1 %), it is necessary to keep 75 % relative humidity at 28 $^{\circ}C$ at total blending silo. The moisture content of reconstituted tobacco sheet was changed from $13{\sim}14$ % to $19{\sim}21$ % within 2 h after preblending. The contents of glycerin and fructose of tobacco types followed by storage time after preblending were not changed significantly. From these results, it is suggested that 2 h storage time after preblending was sufficient to maintain physical properties of cut tobaccos and tobacco taste and fragrance.

  • To improve the physical properties, such as swelling and flexibility, of the cotton fiber, sodium hydroxide or cellulase was used for pretreatment before the beating process. Titanium dioxide was blended during beating process to improve the fibrillation of cotton fibers and even distribution of fillers to cotton fibers. Blending with titanium dioxide during beating process, led to improve the tensile strength and beating degree This treatment also improved the opacity, resulted by well dispersed titanium dioxide during blending. By the blending of titanium dioxide during beating process, similar impact of cotton fiber with cellulase or sodium hydroxide pretreatment was achieved. To improve the tensile strength and opacity of cotton paper simultaneously, titanium dioxide blending in during beating process was found as effective treatment.

  • The novel microsphere blending and multiple emulsion method by single process was tried to prepare sustained release microspheres which release a physiologically active substance for long periods of time. A drug was separately dissolved in each of two or more oils containing biodegradable polymers to give the primary oil phases. The primary oil phases were dispersed in single aqueous phase in succession. From the drug-dispersed solution, the organic solvent was removed to produce microspheres. The accelerated drug release from the microsphere formulation prepared by single process through the multiple emulsion method was very similar to a physical blending of separately prepared microspheres using the same polymers. But long term release was not same. In this study, leuprorelin acetate loaded poly(lactide-co-glycolide) microsphere formulation for one-month delivery was developed by the multi-emulsion method followed by solvent extraction/evaporation method.

  • We have studied the blending effects of Diene NF 35R and Turfdene 1000R at various blending ratios 100/0, 70/30, 50/50, 30/70, 0/100, and of carbon black NAF and ISAF at various compounding ratios of 55 PHR, 65PHR, 75PHR for tyre tread rubber. As the results, it was found that; 1. For tyre tread rubber, as the blending ratio, Diene NF 35R/Turfdene 1000R, indicated 30/70, the physical properties we examined were most excellent. 2. Excellent result was obtained in case of carbon black compounding ratio of 63PHR. The compounding of ISAF made better result than that of HAF for tensile strength, tearing strength, and abrasion quantity. 3. Heat buildup obtained from compounding carbon black HAF indicated low temperature than that from compounding carbon black ISAF. As the compounding amount of carbon black increased, the heat buildup improved, and as the blending amount of Diene NF 35R decreased, the heat buildup dropped. 4. Carbon black was more efficient to Turfdene 1000R than to Diene NF 35R. 5. In this pysical properties, mooney viscosity, and mooney scorch time, as the compounding amount of carbon black increased, the values of mooney viscosity increased, but that of mooney scorch time dropped.
