Low back pain is commonly experienced by both adolescents and adults. The aim of this study is to research the prevalence of the Oswestry disability index(ODI) in their 20s of college students. The data was collected from the ODI questionnaire on functional disability measures for college students(males: 233, females: 407). Statistical analysis was carried out with SPSS 12.0 program, which was used for descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation analysis. The results were : Firstly, 'sitting' item was showed 'the highest score' and 'the lowest score' was 'personal care' in ODI items. Secondly, there was statistically significant between female(6.13) and male(4.62) on ODI but not ODI grade(p<0.01). Thirdly, there was a statistically significant relationship between ODI grade and each ODI items(p<0.01). These results have specific meaning as future clinical and epidemiological studies.
Purpose: This study was investigated basic data for verifying the effect of rope skipping exercise by comparing and analyzing the effects on the body composition of female students. Method: The subjects of this study were 12 female college students and the rope-skipping exercise program was conducted after the purpose and process of this study were explained and the consent of the subjects was obtained. And we used the body composition analyzer (Inbody 520, Korea) to measure before and after exercise of Body Mass Index (BMI), Percentage Body Fat (PBF) and Waist Hip Ratio (WHR). Result: First, the daily living group and the rope-skipping exercise group showed a significant difference in the BMI according to the period and there was no significant difference between the groups. Second, in the PBF, there were no significant differences in the duration, interaction between duration and group and differences between the groups. Third, in the WHR, there were no significant differences in the duration, interaction between duration and group and differences between the groups. Conclusion: BMI of each group according to the period was significantly different between before exercise and 6 weeks after exercise.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of quadriceps setting exercise(N= 10) and electrical stimulation(N= 10) on improvement of quadriceps muscle strength. The experiment were performed for 6weeks. The subject of this study was 20 college students(male) who had not any medical problems. The quadriceps muscle strength was evaluated by make use of the KIN COM(Isokinetic dynamometer). The electrical stimulator was used to stimulate the quadriceps muscle. The results were as follows: 1. The mean increment ratio was 29.6% for concentric muscle strength and 36.4% for eccentric muscle strength after quadriceps setting exercise(p<0.05). 2. The mean increment ratio was 21.2% for concentric muscle strength and 24.3% for eccentric muscle strength after electrical stimulation, but did not significantly higher than pre-electrical stimulation In this study, we have found that quadriceps setting exercise on left side affect the improvement of the muscle strength in college students(male). However, electrical stimulation did not affect on the muscle strength.

Background: The purpose of this study is to examine the correlation between high heels and body imbalance among female college students in their twenties who mainly wear high heels and prevent associated problems. Methods: The subjects included 89 female college students in their twenties. They were measured in plantar pressure with a gait analyzer. Their legs were measured in length with a tape measure. Their pain intensity and pain frequency were measured in visual analog scale and in pain rating score. Results: There were statistically positive correlations between right leg length and low back pain frequency (p<.05) and negative correlations between the left hindfoot and low back pain frequency (p<.05). There were statistically positive correlations between right leg length and knee pain frequency (p<.05) and positive correlations between the ankle pain intensity and right leg length (p<.05). Conclusion: The stronger the pain was in the ankle, the stronger and more frequent their lumber pain was. When the pressure of the left heel was lower, the frequency of lumbar pain increased.

Purpose : The purpose of the research was to analyze foot pressure, foot temperature, and correlation between foot pressure and foot temperature to grasp impact on foot pressure and body temperature distribution chart depending on functional difference of leg length. Method : After measuring leg length, put 15 students whose functional difference of leg length was over 10mm to difference group and 15 students whose functional difference of leg length was under 5mm to normal group and categorize soles of foot into 6 sections of hallux head, 1st metatarsal head, 2-4 metatarsal head, 5 metatarsal head, lateral heel, and then measure by foot pressure analyzer to analyze characteristic of pressure distribution and classify into front of the lower leg, back of the lower leg, soles of foot and measure by body temperature analyzer to analyze by checking body temperature. Result : Weight difference depending on foot pressure and body temperature was bigger when functional difference of leg length was bigger, and it could be confirmed that foot pressure and body temperature of short leg side were higher than those of short leg side. Thus, if difference exists in leg length, weight load on short leg side increases which results in higher foot pressure and body temperature, therefore enabling an assumption that mechanical problem will occur in short leg. Conclusion : When functional leg length inequality, weight bearing and pressure was getting high as a result, temperature was getting high in short leg.
Purpose : The purpose of this research was to research on Needs for the Construction of the CSFT(Cluster with a Strongpoint for Field Training) on students and professors of health-related majors. Methods : We investigated 164 students and professors using a self-reporting method with experience of Field Training. A statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 17.0 for window version. Results : It showed that educational satisfaction had scored 4.05 in curriculum, 4.00 in environment, 3.52 in schedule, 3.71 in evaluation and 3.71 in teaching and 3.84 in industrial-college systems for Field Training. Needs for the Construction of the CSFT had scored 4.17 in $mean{\pm}standard$ deviation. Conclusion : Characterization of Nursing, Department of Health and local health care environment and conditions, if you think the quality of education for the Department of Health Nursing, gradually, the acquisition and improvement of the base hospital is necessary. Therefore, it is considered to be institutionalized by installing the strongpoint hospital at least one in each region, so that they can contribute to the improvement of people's health.
The object of this thesis is to study the correlation between scoliosis and foot in a theoretical and empirical method. My research process was investigated for 34 students on the forward bending test, foot printer test, feedoscope test, X-ray test and so on. The main results of this study were as follows: 1. There was statistical significance on the correlation between foot length and spine length. 2. Scoliosis angle is the smallest on the pes plannus group and the biggest on the pes cavus group without statistical significance. 3. Left lumbar curve is the smallest, and right thoracic spine curve is the biggest on the left foot pattern group with statistical significance. 4. On the foot weightbearing groups, there was statistical significance both of between left and right foot groups. 5. There was no statistical significance on the t-test analysis between left foot area and right foot area according to scoliosis typology.

Human body balances right and left leg centering around pelvis and spine. Therefore, imbalance of lower extremity means disequilibrium of the body. The difference of lower extremity length can cause a number of clinic symptoms including scoliosis, low back pain, sacroiliac pain, and sports injury. In this study, we tried to analyze low back pain and joint stiffness resulting from the difference of lower extremity length. The subjects were 80 male students who are 20-25 years old. The results of this study were as following: 1. Low back pain depending on the difference of lower extremity length One group which the difference of lower extremity length is above 12mm showed average different length as 18.0mm, the other group which one is below 12mm showed as 6.3mm. A group of above 12mm had more severe low back pain than a group of below 12mm. 2. Joint stiffness depending on the difference of lower extremity length A group of above 12mm had more severe joint stiffness than a group of below 12mm.
This study was carried out to recognize the understanding of high school teachers about physical therapist during September in 1988, The study population was comprised of 511 high school teachers who had lived in Seoul and Kyunggi Province. Mate teachers were $56\%$ and the rest of them were females. In age distribution $45.4\%$ of them belonged to the 3rd decade, in religion $36.2\%$ of them were Christians, and in their carrier $45.8\%$ of them were less then 5 years. The results obtained were as follows. 1. The high school teachers who knew about department of physical therapy is amounted to $62.6\%$ in male and $49.8\%$ in female. The high school teachers ($41.7\%$ in male and $38.6\%$ in female) considered that students aptitude was the most important thing to keep in mind in counselling those who wished to become physical therapists. There were difference in opinion between male and female teachers as to the counselling criteria (p<0.05). 2. The high school teachers who knew that the students would beemployed in sport center and health clubs after graduation amounted to $24.3\%$ in males and in general hospital to $27.1\%$ in female. There was significant difference in the knowledge for their field of employment between male and female teachers (p<0.05). 3. As to the effectiveness of the physical therapy, $41.3\%$ of male and $29.8\%$ of the female teachers responded to 'satisfactory', but indicating no statistical difference both sexes. 4. As for the attitude of physical therapiest, $43\%$ of them answered that kindness and service devotion were the prerequisite for them. There were statistical difference between male and female teachers in concepts about attitude (p<0.05). To the social level of physical therapist, majority of the teachers thought that physical therapist belong to moderate level in social class. 5. Those who considered that the physical therapy was necessary means for treatment of trauma amounted to $73\%$. The reason why teachers thought that physical therapy was not necessary was that it required too long period of time for the treatment. 6. Those who knew fully the job of physical therapist amounted to $55\%$ and the 55. $9\%$ knew that physical therapists work only at hospitals as the therapist and the rest of them misunderstood the job of physical therapist. 7. As for the academic background to be qualified as physical therapist, $76.2\%$ of them said that graduation of Junior College was required, $12.9\%$ graduation of Senior College and the rest of them had no ideas at all. Objective: The objective of this study was to describe the influence of smartphone usage on the upper limb muscles while in stable and unstable positions and during gait. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: The study was conducted with 20 right-handed university students between 20 and 27 years of age. Experiments were carried out on students who have used cell phones for more than a year. In this study, experiments were performed with one-handed and two-handed smartphone operations while on stable ground, and the same parameters were measured during smartphone use on unstable ground and during gait. Subjects were instructed to write a text message in Korean on the smartphone for 3 minutes. This was repeated 3 times, with a rest period of 10 seconds given between each 3-minute period. Electromyography was used to record the muscle activity of the upper trapezius, extensor carpi radialis, extensor pollicis longus, and abductor pollicis (AP) during phone operation. Results: The muscle activity value for the right AP in one-handed and the left-AP in two-handed operations was statistically higher than the other muscles in the stable position and during gait (p<0.0001). Also, the right AP in the one- handed operation condition was statistically higher than the two-handed condition (p<0.0001). Conclusions: The use of smartphones while in a stable position resulted in high muscle activity of the right upper limb AP. However, in an unstable position, there were no significant differences from the other muscle activities. Using smartphone while assuming various positions may lead to musculoskeletal disorders in different places.
