Acute or repeated physical exercise affects a large number of physiological parameters including hemodynamics, respiration, pH, temperature, gastrointestinal function and biotransformation, which determine the pharmacokinetics of drugs and chemicals. The rate and the amount of a chemical reaching the active site are altered by physical exercise, which results in significant changes in pharmacolosical/toxicological activity of the chemical. This aspect of physical exercise has vast implication in therapeutics and in safety evaluation, particularly for chemicals that have a low margin of safety. However there appears to be a wide inter- and intraindividual variation in the effects of physical exercise depend-ing on the duration, intensity and type of exercise, and also on the properties of each chemical. It is suggested that more studies need to be done to determine which factor(s) plays a major role in the disposition of chemicals in human/animals performing physical exercise. Certain chemicals induce severe toxicity due to metabolic conversion to reactive intermediate metabolites. it is suggested that repeated exercise may enhance the free radical scavenging system by increasing the activity of antioxidant enzymes. This area of research remain to be explored to elucidate the interaction of exercise and chemical on the antioxidant system.
This study was performed to investigate the conditions of physical activity and exercise programs in Public Health Center. For this study 244 Public Health Centers in Seoul and all of the countries were surveyed from October 15 1999 to June 30 2000. The study was done by telephone, e-mail, fax and questionnaire. First, the 25 Public Health Centers in Seoul were investigated, and then 107 Public Health Centers in other cities were investigated. Public Health Centers in Seoul and Public Health Centers in other cities are very different in exercise program and equipment, budgets, personnel. There were many kinds of exercise program for people who have health problems, but a few exercise programs for healthy people. Exercise programs for people who have health problems were to prevent hypertension, arthritis. obesity, diabetes and back pain. Physical activity and exercise programs for healthy people were stretching for pregnancy and elderly. There were $24(96.0\%)$ Public Health Centers in Seoul which had physical activity and exercise program, $80(36.5\%)$ Public Health Centers in other cities which had physical activity and exercise program.

Patient Specific Functional Scale(PSFS) was used to measure patient's functional disability level. BPM was used to measure sway area. Global Perceived Effect Scale(GPES) was used to measure recovery or worse of patient's condition. Results : 1. SFMPQ was strengthening exercise group showed significantly decreased more than walking exercise group(p<.05). 2. PSFS was strengthening exercise group showed significantly increased more than walking exercise group(p<.05). 3. Sway area was strengthening exercise group showed significantly limited area more than walking exercise group(p<.05). 4. GPES was strengthening exercise group showed significantly increased more than walking exercise group(p<.05). Conclusion : This study will be used as exercise method of patient with osteoarhtritis.
Objective: To investigate muscle strength after short term isotonic and isometric exercise. Method: Twenty two healthy men and women were randomly designed isometric and isotonic exercises. Each participant was asked to perform 10 sessions of isometric and isotonic exercises. The assessment measured pre and post 10 sessions exercises by Cybex 340. Result: Isometric exercise significantly increased by $60^{\circ}$/sec and isotonic exercise significantly increased by $120^{\circ}$/sec, $180^{\circ}$/sec. Isometric exercise and isotonic exercise increased by all speeds. Most increased at $120^{\circ}$/sec, $180^{\circ}$/sec by isometric exercise and $60^{\circ}$/see by isotonic exercise but not significantly. Conclusion: Short term isotonic and isometric exercise increase muscle strength. Even if the exercise session is short term, the sessions increase muscle strength.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of 3 dimensional exercises and Klapp's exercise on parameters of scoliosis in subjects with non-structure scoliosis. METHOD: This study was performed on 24 subjects. Twenty-four subjects were divided into two groups; 3 dimensional exercise(n=12), Klapp's exercise(n=12). Both of the group performed the exercise 3 times a week for 5 weeks. The data was analyzed by the Paired t-test for comparing before and after changes of factors in each group and the Independent t-test for comparing the between groups. RESULT: The result are as follows. There was statistically significant difference of before and after arthopometric parameters, trunk flexion, Cobb's angle in 3 dimensional exercise(p<0.05). There was statistically significant difference of before and after acromion high, trunk extension, Cobb's angle in Klapp's exercise(p<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference of between the two group in arthropometric parameters, ROM, Cobb's angle(p>0.05). CONCLUSION: As a result of this study, we found that the 3 dimensional exercise may be effective more than Klapp's exercise.

Background: This study investigated the perception of community care-based tele exercise rehabilitation according to demographic characteristics of physical therapists and presented basic data for the spread of tele exercise rehabilitation within community care. Methods: The study collected and analyzed data from 195 physical therapists. The analysis was performed using frequency analysis with 10 general characteristics, 13 tele exercise rehabilitation recognition questions, and a total of 23 questions. Analysis of general characteristics of study subjects and recognition of tele exercise rehabilitation were expressed in terms of frequency and percentage using frequency analysis. Chi-squared test was used to compare general characteristics and tele exercise rehabilitation recognition. Correlation analysis of major sociodemographic variables affecting the perception of remote exercise rehabilitation was conducted. Results: The awareness level of physical therapists for remote exercise rehabilitation was confirmed. The difference in the recognition of remote motor rehabilitation in the number of therapists, career, hospital form according to the sociodemographic characteristics showed statistically significant differences. Conclusion: It is necessary to first raise awareness of therapists through the promotion of tele exercise rehabilitation, and furthermore, in the future, it will be necessary to find a policy direction and plan on how tele exercise rehabilitation can be applied to rehabilitation services in local communities care.
For the purpose of disclosing the effects of progressive low intensity exercise on the activity of the elderly, questionnaire survey and physical fitness examination were performed on the subjects who were 65 years old or older. The subjects were assigned into two groups using paired matching on gender and age: experimental group (33 persons) and control groups (35 persons). The subjects in experimental group was put on the low intensity exercise program (exercising upper and lower limbs for 12 weeks using dumbbell and lead-packed weight). The results showed that the difference of physical and social behavior scores among activities before and after exercise were significantly higher in all variables of general characteristics, health habits and status, perception, and physical fitness. The findings of this research suggested that the progressive low intensity exercise improves the activities of the elderly, physical activity, self assessed activity, activities of daily living, instrumental activities of daily living, social behavior of the elderly be affected by general characteristics, health habits and status, perception, and physical fitness.
The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of intermittent ladder-climbing exercise training on mitochondrial biogenesis and ER stress of the cardiac muscle in high fat diet-induced obese middle-aged rats. We induced obesity over 6 weeks of period in 40 male Sprague-Dawley rats around 50 weeks old, and were randomly divided into four experimental groups: chow, HFD, exercise+HFD, and exercise+chow. The exercising groups underwent high-intensity intermittent training using a ladder-climbing and weight exercise 3 days/week for a total of 8 weeks. High-fat diet and concurrent exercise resulted in no significant reduction in body weight but caused a significant reduction in visceral fat weight (p<0.05). Expression of $PPAR{\delta}$ increased in the exercise groups and was significantly increased in the high-fat diet+exercise group (p<0.05). Among the ER stress-related proteins, the expression levels of p-PERK and CHOP, related to cardiac muscle damage, were significantly higher in the cardiac muscle of the high-fat diet group (p<0.05), and were significantly reduced by intermittent ladder-climbing exercise training (p<0.05). Specifically, this reduction was greater when the rats underwent exercise after switching back to the chow diet with a reduced caloric intake. Collectively, these results suggest that the combination of intermittent ladder-climbing exercise training and a reduced caloric intake can decrease the levels of ER stress-related proteins that contribute to cardiac muscle damage in obesity and aging. However, additional validation is required to understand the effects of these changes on mitochondrial biogenesis during exercise.
