대형 다결정 실리콘 잉곳 성장을 위한 ADS 법의 열유동에 관한 공정모사 (Simulation by heat transfer of ADS process for large sized polycrystalline silicon ingot growth)

  • 태양광 산업의 성장에 따른 개선된 실리콘 잉곳 제조 방법의 개발은 중요한 이슈 중 하나이다. 단결정 실리콘 웨이퍼에 비해 가격 변에서의 유리함으로 인해 현재 다결정 실리콘 웨이퍼가 태양광 시장의 60% 이상을 점유하고 있으며 주조법, 열교환법, 전자기 주조법 등을 포함한 몇 가지 응고 공정들이 개발되어 오고 있다. 이 논문에서는 ADS 법을 이용하여 대형 다결정 실리콘을 성장하기 위한 공정모사를 수행하였다. ADS 법은 적은 열 손실, 짧은 공정 시간 및 효율적인 방향성 응고가 가능하다는 장점을 가지고 있다. ADS 공정의 수치해석은 온도 분포를 확인하기 위해 유체역학을 적용하였고, 공정모사 결과 240 kg 이상의 대형 다결정 실리콘 잉곳의 효율적인 방향성 응고가 가능함을 확인하였다.

  • The paper addresses modeling and analysis of a grid-connected photovoltaic generation system (PV system). PSCAD/EMTDC, an industry standard simulation tool for studying the transient behavior of electric power system and apparatus, is used to conduct all aspects of model implementation and to carry out extensive simulation study. This paper is aimed at sharing with the PSCAD/EMTDC user community our user-defined model for PV system applications, which is not yet available as a standard model within PSCAD/EMTDC. An equivalent circuit model of a solar cell has been used for modeling solar array. A series of parameters required for array modeling have been estimated from general specification data of a solar module. A PWM voltage source inverter (VSI) and its current control scheme have been implemented. A maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique is employed for drawing the maximum available energy from the PV array. Comprehensive simulation results are presented to examine PV array behaviors and PV system control performance in response to irradiation changes. In addition, dynamic responses of PV array and system to network fault conditions are simulated and analysed.

  • The monitoring system is an absolutely required system for improving a performance to consider the situation for the hybrid generation of the photovoltaic (PV) and wind power (WP) energy experimental research complex. This system is to monitor with the railroad switching point heating system using LabVIEW to the hybrid generation of the PV and WP. The monitoring system of this paper is a program monitoring the hour, day and total of the voltage and current that made from the hybrid generation of PV and WP. In experiment, we acquired the power data according to time at the day of PV and WP. We have confirmed the possibility of the real time monitoring system using LabVIEW with the railroad switching point heating system as the hybrid generation of the PV and WP.

Carbon nanotube/silicon hybrid heterojunctions for photovoltaic devices

  • The significant growth of the Si photovoltaic industry has been so far limited due to the high cost of the Si photovoltaic system. In this regard, the most expensive factors are the intrinsic cost of silicon material and the Si solar cell fabrication processes. Conventional Si solar cells have p-n junctions inside for an efficient extraction of light-generated charge carriers. However, the p-n junction is normally formed through very expensive processes requiring very high temperature (${\sim}1000^{\circ}C$). Therefore, several systems are currently under study to form heterojunctions at low temperatures. Among them, carbon nanotube (CNT)/Si hybrid solar cells are very promising, with power conversion efficiency up to 15%. In these cells, the p-type Si layer is replaced by a semitransparent CNT film deposited at room temperature on the n-doped Si wafer, thus giving rise to an overall reduction of the total Si thickness and to the fabrication of a device with cheaper methods at low temperatures. In particular, the CNT film coating the Si wafer acts as a conductive electrode for charge carrier collection and establishes a built-in voltage for separating photocarriers. Moreover, due to the CNT film optical semitransparency, most of the incoming light is absorbed in Si; thus the efficiency of the CNT/Si device is in principle comparable to that of a conventional Si one. In this paper an overview of several factors at the basis of this device operation and of the suggested improvements to its architecture is given. In addition, still open physical/technological issues are also addressed.

IEC 우박시험에 대한 태양광모듈 충돌 해석 (Hail Impact Analysis of Photovoltaic Module using IEC Test)

  • The loss in photovoltaic power due to hailstorms has been highlighted as a major issue in the sustained growth of the PV power plant industry. This study investigates the safety of a solar module by conducting a numerical analysis of a hail test according to the IEC 61215 standard. Our study aims to elucidate the detailed behavior between the ice and solar modules and the micro-cracks forming on solar modules during hailstorms. To analyze the impact of hail, we used the ANSYS AUTODYN software to evaluate the impact characteristics on a solar module with different front glass thicknesses. The simulations show that a solar module with a glass thickness of 4.0 mm results in excellent durability against hail. The results indicate the feasibility of using simulations to analyze and predict micro-cracks on solar modules tailored to various conditions, which can be used to develop new solar modules.

  • In order to deploy the large-scale energy storage (ES) service in the various industry, it is very important to develop a business model with high technological and economic feasibility through detailed valuation of cost and expected benefits. In relation to this, this paper established an optimal scheduling plan for electric vehicle charging stations connected with photovoltaic (PV) and ES technologies in Korea using the distributed energy resource valuation tool and analyzed the feasibility of the project. In addition, the impact of incentives such as REC (Renewable Energy Certificate) to be given to electric vehicle charging stations in accordance with the relevant laws to be revised in the future was analyzed. As a results, the methodology presented in this paper are expected to be used in various ways to analyze the feasibility of various business models linked to renewable energy and ES technologies as well as the electric vehicle market.

  • Currently, with the thriving development in the field of solar energy, the widespread adoption of solar grid-connected power conversion systems is rapidly expanding. As the market continues to grow, the efficiency of solar power conversion systems is steadily increasing, while prices are rapidly decreasing. Photovoltaic panels often produce low output voltages, and Boost converters are commonly employed to elevate and stabilize these voltages. They are also utilized for implementing Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT), ensuring the full utilization of solar power generation. Recently, synchronous control techniques have been introduced, using controllable switching devices like Si IGBT or SiC MOSFET to replace the diodes in the original circuits. However, this has raised concerns related to costs. This paper offers a compromise solution, considering both the performance and economic factors of the converter. It proposes a hybrid high-efficiency synchronous converter structure that combines Si IGBT and SiC MOSFET. Additionally, the proposed topology has been practically implemented and tested, with results confirming its feasibility and cost-effectiveness.

  • KPX(Korea Power Exchange) has been supervising FIT(Feed-in-tariff) for renewable energy power plants and supported 289MW photovoltaic power plants with Electric Power Industry Basis Fund in 2009. In this paper, we'll analyze utilization factor of these PV power plants in 2009 and for the latest 3 years and finally utilization factor of other renewable energy power plants in 2009.

  • Recently, according to developing industry and life style, power consumption have been increased year after year. Currently these much power demand from power consumer is weakening the allowable power reserve margin in summer. As one of the remedies about this problem, the small scale utility interactive photovoltaic system(UIPVS) is considered for auxiliary power source. For this system one of problems to be solved technically, system operating power factor. Generally in case of small scale system, system is operated in unity power factor. But this unity power factor operating mode decrease power factor viewed from utility because UIPVS supply active power to utility. Therefore this paper propose UIPVS with power factor correcting function and this system is analyzed.
