Differential Power Processing 컨버터를 적용한 PV 충전 가방 (Differential Power Processing Converter Design for a Photovoltaic-Powered Bag)

  • 기존의 태양광 시스템은 대체로 고정된 형태로 사용되었지만 태양광 시스템의 응용분야가 확장됨에 따라 전기자동차, 웨어러블 기기 등의 이동식 태양광 시스템 또한 많이 개발되고 있다. 이동식 태양광 시스템의 경우 불균일한 태양빛에 많이 노출되며, 이러한 불균일한 태양빛은 극심한 시스템 효율 저하를 야기한다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 시스템 효율 저하 문제를 해결하기 위해 differential power processing (DPP) 컨버터를 병렬로 적용한 photovoltaic (PV) 충전 가방을 제시하였다. DPP 컨버터는 PV 충전 가방이 불균일한 태양빛에 노출되어도, 각각의 태양전지가 고유의 최대 전력점에서 작동하도록 제어하는 역할을 한다. PV 충전 가방은 4개의 태양전지로 구성되어 있으며 충분한 태양빛 아래, 5 W의 출력전력을 가질 수 있다. PV 충전 가방은 하나의 front-end 컨버터와 4개의 DPP 컨버로 구성되었으며, P-SIM 시뮬레이션과 실험을 통해 front-end 컨버터와 DPP 컨버터의 정상 작동을 입증하였다. 또한 동일한 태양빛에 노출된 경우, 기존의 연결 방법 중 하나인 병렬 배열은 1.49 W의 출력 전력을 가진 반면, DPP 시스템은 4.35 W의 출력 전력을 가져 약 3배 높은 출력 전력을 확인하였다.

However, it is necessary to reduce PV module cost and to improve conversion efficiency to be promoted distribution of PV Japan, USA and Europe have been researching cost and efficiency of that. In this paper, we try to review diffusion perspective of PV in these countries. From the results of this paper, we will intend to suggest a suitable future course for domestic PV distribution.

  • Abstract Under the physical stress on photovoltaic (PV) module, it will be warped according to elongation of the front glass and then micro-crack will be occurred in the thermally sealed solar cell. This micro-crack leads to drop of short circuit current of the PV module. This is because of increase of resistance component by micro-crack. Micro-crack at specific solar cell in the module lessens the durability of PV module with reduced output, hot-spot caused by solar cell output mismatch and increased resistance component. This study shows the relation between electrical characteristics and micro- cracks due to mechanical stress on PV module.

  • This paper introduces the modeling of grid-connected photovoltaic(PV) generation using Matiab/Simulink. The model is based on the equivalent circuit of the PV solar cell including the effects of solar irradiation and temperature changes. The PV arrays are modeled to be built up with the series/parallel combination of PV solar cell and are connected to the distribution system via an inverter. The simulation results show that the typical characteristics and outputs of the PV arrays are accurate.

  • It is important to find the maximum efficient conditions for the output of the photovoltaic(PV) system to determine the optimal installation location of the PV system. The output of PV system depends on the irradiance. Therefore, this paper introduces the pilot experiment set to track the output of PV system according to the variance of irradiance and analyzes the result of experiment using this set. The pilot experiment set consists of the PV modules and the inverter to convert DC power to AC power. For this experiment, the fixed and tracked modules are used.

  • In 2008, the global photovoltaic(PV) market reached 5.6GW and the cumulative PV power installed totalled almost 15GW compared to 9GW in 2007. Due to a favourable feed-in-tariff, Korea emerged in 2008 as the 4th largest PV market worldwide. PV power installation rose 495.5 percent to 268MW in 2008 compare to 45MW in 2007. And PV manufacturer will increase the capacity of production facilities by 910MW in 2009. If the 500MW cap is removed, the growth of the korea market will reach up to 1GW by 2013.

  • Photovoltaic (PV) solar systems with series-connected module integrated converters (MICs) are receiving increased attention because of their ability to create high output voltage while performing local maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control for individual solar panels, which is a solution for partial shading effects in PV systems at panel level. To eliminate the partial shading effects in PV system more effectively, sub-MICs are utilized at the cell level or grouped cell level within a PV solar panel. This study presents the results of a series-output-connection MPPT (SOC-MPPT) controller for sub-MIC architecture using a single sensor at the output and a single digital MPPT controller (sub-MIC SOC-MPPT controller and architecture). The sub-MIC SOC-MPPT controller and architecture are investigated based on boost type sub-MICs. Experimental results under steady-state and transient conditions are presented to verify the performance of the controller and the effectiveness of the architecture.

  • This paper reports the performance of a CB (Circuit Breaker) and converter for the battery operated Wind-PV (Photovoltaic) system. For this purpose, a fluctuating reduction controller for an electric generation hybrid (wind+PV) system is suggested. The method operates a wind turbine, PV, CB, converter and battery. Integration of wind and PV sources, which are generally complementary, usually reduce the capacity of the battery. Also, CB controls the overvoltage of the generation system. The objective is to control the operation of the converter and the CB and reduce power fluctuation. This paper includes discussion on system performance, power quality, fluctuation and effect of the randomness of the wind.

  • Among the various solar-hydrogen production techniques a combination of a photovoltaic (PV) and an electrolytic cell into one single system, a monolithic PV-electrolytic cell, has been suggested as a promising one in terms of efficiency and stability. In this mini-review, we describe our recent efforts on the fabrication of the monolithic PV-electrolytic cell. Particularly, we focus on the electrocatalysts for water oxidation and its fabrication method suitable for a monolithic PV-electrolytic cell. We also introduce proto-type devices with a dye-sensitized solar cell module and an InGaP/GaAs photoelectrodes.
