감광제/광촉매에 의한 공기오염물질 제거 (Removal of Air Pollutants Using Photosensitizers/Photocatalysts)

  • 일반 주거환경 또는 재배시설 내의 공기오염물질인 농약 및 병원성 미생물을 인위적으로 제거하기 위해서 자연광 또는 인공광조건하에서 몇몇 감광제 (PS)/광촉매 (PC)에 의한 광분해 촉진효과와 미생물의 살균효과 시험을 수행하였다. 광촉매로는 반도체 물질인 PC-1과 PC-2, 그리고 산화제로 사용되는 PC-3, PC-4, PC-5 및 PC-6과 감광제로 PS-7과 PS-8을 선발하였다. Dichlorvos의 경우에는 자연광과 인공광 조건하에서 광촉매 무처리구에 비해 각각의 광촉매가 처리된 모든 처리구에서 4배 이상의 광분해 촉진효과를 보였고, methyl tert-butyl ether의 경우에는 단지 광촉매 PC-1 처리구만이 광촉매 무처리구에 비해 약 17배 이상의 분해 촉진효과를 보였다. 또한 procymidone의 경우에도 PC-1, PC-6 및 PS-8에 의한 광분해가 약 3배 이상 촉진되었다. 공기 중의 미생물을 제거하기 위한 예비시험에서는 Pseudomonas putida, Phytophthora capsici 및 Salmonella typhimurium 현탁액에 각각 광촉매 PC-1을 첨가하고 인공광을 조사함으로서 미생물의 생육이 저해됨을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 평판배지에 도말된 Salmonella typhimurium은 광촉매 PC-1의 주변에서 미생물 생육이 저해됨을 보였다. 이상의 결과에서 볼 때 광조건 하에서 감광제/광촉매를 이용한 고등산화기술은 농약을 비롯한 여러 환경 오염물질을 제거하여 재배시설 내의 작업자와 일반 대중의 환경오염원에 대한 노출을 예방할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • Since Gratzel and co-workers developed a new type of solar cell based on the nanocrystalline TiO2 electrode, dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have attracted considerable attention on account of their high solar energy-to-conversion efficiencies (11%), their easy manufacturing process with low cost production compared to conventional p-n junction solar cells. The mechanism of DSSC is based on the injection of electrons from the photoexcited dye into the conduction band of nanocrystalline TiO2. The oxidized dye is reduced by the hole injection process from either the hole counter or electrolyte. Thus, the electronic structures, such as HOMO, LUMO, and HOMO-LUMO gap, of dye molecule in DSSC are deeply related to the electron transfer by photoexcitation and redox potential. To date, high performance and good stability of DSSC based on Ru-dyes as a photosensitizer had been widely addressed in the literatures. DSSC with Ru-bipyridyl complexes (N3 and N719), and the black ruthenium dye have achieved power conversion efficiencies up to 11.2% and 10.4%, respectively. However, the Ru-dyes are facing the problem of manufacturing costs and environmental issues. In order to obtain even cheaper photosensitizers for DSSC, metal-free organic photosensitizers are strongly desired. Metal-free organic dyes offer superior molar extinction coefficients, low cost, and a diversity of molecular structures, compared to conventional Ru-dyes. Recently, novel photosensitizers such as coumarin, merocyanine, cyanine, indoline, hemicyanine, triphenylamine, dialkylaniline, bis(dimethylfluorenyl)-aminophenyl, phenothiazine, tetrahydroquinoline, and carbazole based dyes have achieved solar-to-electrical power conversion efficiencies up to 5-9%. On the other hand, organic dye molecules have large ${\pi}$-conjugated planner structures which would bring out strong molecular stacking in their solid-state and poor solubility in their media. It was well known that the molecular stacking of organic dyes could reduce the electron transfer pathway in opto-electronic devices, significantly. In this paper, we have studied on synthesis and characterization of dendritic organic dyes with different number of electron acceptor/anchoring moieties in the end of dendrimer. The photovoltaic performances and the incident photon-to-current (IPCE) of these dyes were measured to evaluate the effects of the dendritic strucuture on the open-circuit voltage and the short-circuit current.

감광제에 의한 수용액 및 토양 중 제초제 quinclorac의 광분해 촉진효과 (Accelerating effect of some photosensitizers on photodegradation of the herbicide quinclorac in aqueous solution and soil)

  • 제초제 quinclorac의 수중 및 토양중 잔류량을 인위적으로 감소시키기 위하여 광분해를 촉진시킬 수 있는 6종의 감광제를 선발하여 수중 및 모래에서의 광분해 시험을 수행하였다. 자연광 조건하에서 증류수중 quinclorac의 분해는 암조건과 비교할 때 차이가 없어 직접적인 광분해는 용이하지 않음을 알 수 있었다. Methanol 용액에서 quinclorac의 광분해율은 40.3%였으나, 감광제 PS-1 (방향족 ketone), PS-3 (quinone), 그리고 PS-6 (반도체 광촉매)가 함유되어 있는 용액 및 현탁액에서 quinclorac의 광분해율은 각각 96.6%, 72.7%, 그리고 95.7%로서 가장 양호한 광분해 촉진효과를 보였다. 한편 모래에서는 감광제 PS-1, PS-3 그리고 PS-6중에서 PS-3가 64.1%로 가장 양호한 광분해 촉진효과를 보였다. Methanol중 quinclorac의 광분해산물로 5종의 화합물이 그리고 감광제 PS-1에서는 3종의 분해산물이 GC-MS로 구명되었고 aldehyde기를 보유한 광분해산물은 sodium 3,5-dinitrosalicylate의 환원반응에 의하여 확인되었다. 토양에 처리된 quinclorac은 30 ppm 이상의 감광제 PS-3 처리로 광분해되어 남아있는 quinclorac 잔류물은 강피를 방제하지 못했다. 이와 같은 결과들은 감광제 PS-1, PS-3, PS-6가 수용액 및 토양중 quinclorac 잔류물을 효과적으로 광분해시킬 수 있음을 시사한다.

  • Practically to put use high-photosensitive polymer, poly(vinyl cinnamoyl acetate), we investigated and confirmed UCHIDA`s synthesis, according to control solvent, which is the esterification of poly (vinyl alcohol) with monochloroacetic acid and can be freely conrolled the successive cinnamoyl acetoxyl esterfication of PVCiA, and intruducing photosensitizers,studied the photosensitivity of PVCiA.

  • The improvement of solar energy-to-electricity conversion efficiency has continued to be an important research area of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The mechanism of DSSCs is based on the injection of electrons from the photoexcited dye into the conduction band of nanocrystalline TiO2 or ZnO. Thus, the electronic structures, such as HOMO, LUMO, and HOMO-LUMO band gaps of dye moleculed in DSSC are deeply related to the electron transfer by photoexcitation and redox potential. Organic dyes, because of their many advantages, such as high molar extinction coefficients, convenience of customized molecular design for desired photophysical and photochemical properties, inexpensiveness with no transition metals contained, and environment-friendliness, are suitable as photosensitizers for DSSC. We believe that practically useful organic dye photosensitizers can be produced by exploiting electron donor/acceptor system with proper length of ${\pi}$-conjugation in a chromophore to control the absorption wavelength and enhance the photovoltaic performance. In this research, We designed and synthesized organic dyes also investigated the photoelectrochemical properties of a series of ionic dyes in DSSCs.

Effectiveness of methylene blue photosensitizers compared to that of corticosteroids in the management of oral lichen planus: a systematic review and meta-analysis

  • This study aimed to systematically review the effectiveness of methylene blue (MB) photosensitizers in the management of symptomatic oral lichen planus (OLP). Electronic online databases and manual searches were performed for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) published in English between January 2010 and February 2022. RCTs comparing photodynamic therapy (PDT) and corticosteroid therapy at baseline and follow-up period were identified. The Cochrane risk of bias tool was used to assess the quality of the included studies. A meta-analysis was performed regarding visual analog scale (VAS) scores, Thongprasom sign scores, lesion size, response to treatment, and exacerbation of lesions after therapy. The clinical severity was analyzed qualitatively. Five RCTs consisting of 180 samples fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria. All parameters of VAS score, Thongprasom sign score, lesion size, and response to treatment were statistically non-significant. Our results indicate that both MB-PDT and corticosteroid therapy are effective for the management of OLP. Moreover, MB-PDT is an effective alternative treatment option for OLP when corticosteroids are contraindicated. However, conclusive evidence cannot be ascertained owing to the heterogeneity among the studies.

HYPERICIN - BASED PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY: COMPARATIVE ANTITUMOR ACTIVITY AND UPTAKE STUDIES IN MURINE EHRLICH ASCITE CARCINOMA.

  • Hypericin was found to exhibit the highest antitumoral activity in treating EAT by photodynamic therapy (PDT): Hypericin>HPde>PII>TPPS$_4$>ALA. Moreover, 25% of mice after Hyp-based PDT survived 4 months, if compare with control group. Antitumor activity of these photosensitizers was in rather clear correlation with accumulation potential.
