박막 산화티타늄과 Sr4Al14O25 축광체를 조합한 복합소재의 벤젠가스에 대한 광촉매 반응 (The Photocatalytic Reaction of the Thin Film TiO2-Sr4Al14O25 Phosphors for Benzene Gas)

  • Phosphorescent materials coated with titanium dioxide were fabricated and photocatalytic reactions between these materials and VOCs gases were examined. A thin film (approx. 100 nm) of nanosized $TiO_2$ was deposited on the $Sr_4Al_{14}O_{25}$ : $Eu^{2+}$, $Dy^{3+}$, $Ag^+$ phosphor using low-pressure chemical vapor deposition (LPCVD). The characteristics of the photocatalytic reaction were examined in terms of the decomposition of benzene gas using a gas chromatography (GC) system under ultraviolet (${\lambda}$ = 365 nm) and visible light (${\lambda}$ > 420 nm) irradiation. $TiO_2$-coated $Sr_4Al_{14}O_{25}$ : $Eu^{2+}$, $Dy^{3+}$, $Ag^+$ phosphor showed different photocatalytic behavior compared with pure $TiO_2$. $TiO_2$-coated phosphorescent materials showed a much faster photocatalytic decomposition of benzene gas under visible irradiation compared to the pure $TiO_2$ for which the result was practically negligible. This suggests that the extension of the absorption wavelength to visible light occurred through energy band bending by a heterojunction at the interface of the $Sr_4Al_{14}O_{25}-TiO_2$ composite. Also, the $Sr_4Al_{14}O_{25}-TiO_2$ composite showed the photocatalytic decomposition of benzene in darkness due to the photon light emitted from the $Sr_4Al_{14}O_{25}$ phosphors.

건축자재의 산화티타늄 코팅을 통한 휘발성 유기화합물 분해 (Destruction of Volatile Organic Compounds Using Photocatalyst-Coated Construction Materials)

  • In order to reduce roadside and indoor air pollution for volatile organic compounds VOC), it may be necessary to apply photocatalyst-coated construction materials. This study evaluated the technical feasibility of the application of $TiO_2$ photocatalysis for the removal of VOC present in roadside or indoor air. The photocatalytic removal of five target VOC was investigated: benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene and o,m,p-xylenes. Variables tested for the current study included ultraviolet(UV) light intensity coating materials, relative humidity (RH), and input concentrations. Prior to performing the parameter tests, adsorption of VOC onto the current experiment was surveyed, and no adsorption was observed. Stronger UV intensity provided higher photocatalytic destruction(PCD) efficiency of the target compounds. For higher humidity, higher PCD efficiency was observed. The PCD efficiency depended on coating material. Contrary to certain previous findings, lower PCD efficiencies were observed for the experimental condition of higher input concentrations. The current findings suggested that the four parameters tested in the present study should be considered for the application of photocatalyst-coated construction materials in cleaning VOC of roadside or indoor air.

TiO2 담지 세라믹 필터를 활용한 아세톤 제어에 관한 연구 (Reduction of Gaseous Acetone by using TiO2 Coated Woven Filters)

  • A new type of catalytic filers has been developed in this work. A porous photocatalytic filter was prepared by coating the titania (anatase phase) powder onto the woven metal mesh. The coating sol was prepared with unique cera-mic binder, and would assist drying condition and enhance the mechanical strength of the final ceramic filers. As a result of the test for acetone decomposition, it was found to be quite effective for the photocatalytic reaction as good at conventional glass reactors which were coated inside. The present filter type reactor is expected as one of plausible devices for the simultaneous treatment of gas - particulate materials.

나노 Ag spot-coated TiO2-SrO 복합분체의 합성과 광촉매 활성 평가 (Synthesis and Photocatalytic Activity of Ag Spot-coated TiO2-SrO Composite Powders)

  • Nano-sized $TiO_2$-60 wt% SrO composite powders were synthesized by a sol-gel method using titanium isopropoxide and $Sr(OH)_2\;{\cdot}\;8H_2O$ as precursors. 3, -5, -7 wt%Ag spot-coated $TiO_2$-60 wt% SrO composite powders were synthesized by a Ag electroless deposition method using $TiO_2$-60 wt% SrO composite powders calcined at $1050^{\circ}C$, which mainly exhibited the $SrTiO_3$phase. However, a small number of rutile $TiO_2$, $Sr_2TiO_4$ and $SrO_2$ phases were also detected. In the Ag spot-coated powders synthesized by electroless deposition, nano-sized particles about 5-25 nm in diameter adhered to the $TiO_2$-60 wt% SrO composite powders. The photocatalytic activity of Ag spot-coated $TiO_2$-SrO and $TiO_2$-SrO composite powders for degradation of phenol showed that all of $TiO_2$-SrO composite powders were highly active under UV light irradiation. 7 wt%Ag spot-coated $TiO_2$-60wt.%SrO composite powders had a relatively higher photocatalytic activity than did $TiO_2$-SrO composite powders under visible light.

열처리 온도에 따라 제조된 탄소 코팅된 TiO2에 대한 광촉매 효과 (Photocatalytic effect for the carbon-coated TiO2 prepared from different heat treatment temperature)

  • 여러 가지 열처리 온도에서 피치와 $TiO_2$을 사염화탄소 용해법을 사용하여 탄소 코팅한 $TiO_2$시료를 제조하였다. 열처리 온도가 탄소 코팅된 $TiO_2$ 시료들의 광활성에 미치는 영향에 대하여 고찰하였다. BET 비표면적은 탄소 코팅한 $TiO_2$은 순수한 $TiO_2$보다 상당히 증가함을 보였다. 시료의 표면상태는 SEM를 통하여 피치 첨가에 의한 탄소의 분포상태를 분명하게 관찰할 수 있었다. 원소분석은 EDX를 통하여 분석하였으며, 시료에서 주로 C, Ti 및 O원소가 존재하였다. 또한, 본 연구에서는 XRD 결과값으로부터 PT700과 PT750은 anatase 결정상을 나타내었으며, PT800과 PT850은 rutile 결정상을 관찰할 수 있었다. 이들 결과는 $TiO_2$ 결정구조가 온도에 따라 변화할 수 있음을 나타내었다. 탄소 코팅된 $TiO_2$의 광활성은 UV-vis 분광기를 사용하여 특성분석을 하였다. PT700, PT750은 순수한 $TiO_2$ 보다 상대적으로 비표면적의 증가와 구조적 상변이의 특성에 따라 광촉매 특성의 증가 요인으로 작용하였음을 알 수 있었다.

A Study on Degradation of Nonylphenol Polyethoxylate Metabolites Using Uv / Photocatalytic Silicagel Treatment

  • Nonylphenol polyetoxylates (NPnEOs) metabolites; nonylphenol (NP), nonylphenol monoethoxylate (NP1EO), nonylphenoxyacetic acid (NPEC) (collectively referred to "NPE-c") were examined for their degradations by using of lab-scale UV/photocatalytic silicagel (ultraviolet photocatalytic degradation in the presence of silicagel coated with titanium dioxide as a catalyst) reactor. NPE-c degradations by UV/photocatalytic silicagel treatment reached approximately 85-93 % after 40 min irradiation independently of its initial concentration (between ca. 0.5 and 2.0mg/l). Any intermediates under the NPE-c degradation were not identified by GC/MS sample analysis. Degradations of NPE-c were followed pseudo first-order kinetics. Then, the effectiveness of UV/photocatalytic silicagel treatment for degradation of NPE-c was in the order of NPEC > NP > NP1EO.

석영관 광촉매 반응기를 이용한 Rhodamine B의 색도 제거 (Decolorization of Rhodamine B Using Quartz Tube Photocatalytic Reactor)

  • The photocatalytic oxidation of Rhodamine B(RhB) was studied using photocatalytic reactor filled with module of quartz tube. Module of quartz tube consisted of small quartz tube (inner diameter, 1.5 mm; outer diameter, 3 mm) bundle coated with powder $TiO_2$ and uncoated large quartz tube (inner diameter, 20 mm; outer diameter, 22 mm). Two 30 W germicidal lamp was used as the light source and the reactor volume was 0.5 l. The effects of parameters such as the coating materials and numbers, initial concentration, $H_{2}O_2$ dose and metal deposition (Ag, Pt and Fe) and simultaneous application of $H_{2}O_2$ and metal deposition. The results showed that the initial reaction constant of quartz module coated with powder $TiO_2$ was higher 1.4 time than that of the $TiO_2$ sol and optimum coating number is twice. In order to increase reaction rate, simultaneous application of photocatalytic and photo-fenton reaction using Fe coating and dose $H_{2}O_2$ dose increased reaction rate largely.

Preparation of SiO2-Coated TiO2 Composite Materials with Enhanced Photocatalytic Activity Under UV Light

  • $SiO_2$-coated $TiO_2$ composite materials with enhanced photocatalytic activity under UV light was prepared by a simple catalytic hydrolysis method. XRD, TEM, UV-vis spectroscopy, Photoluminescence, FT-IR and XP spectra were used to characterize the prepared samples. The obvious shell-core structure was shown for obtained $SiO_2$@$TiO_2$ sample. The average thickness of the $SiO_2$ coating layer was 2-3 nm. The interaction between $SiO_2$ and $TiO_2$ restrained the recombination of excited electrons and holes. The photocatalytic activities were tested in the degradation of an aqueous solution of a reactive dyestuff, methylene blue, under UV light. The photocatalytic activity of $SiO_2$@$TiO_2$ was much higher than that of P25 and mechanical mixing sample $SiO_2/TiO_2$. The possible mechanism for the photocatalysis was proposed.

악취 및 VOC를 함유한 폐가스의 광촉매 처리: 2. 광도의 폐가스 처리효율에 대한 영향 (Treatment of Waste Air Containing Malodor and VOC: 2. Effect of Light-intensity on the Photocatalytic Removal Efficiency of Malodor and VOC of Waste Air)

  • 환형 광촉매반응기 외경지지체의 반사막에 의한 광촉매반응기시스템의 광도를 제고함으로써 개선된 광촉매반응기에 의한 악취성분 및 휘발성 유기화합물을 동시 포함한 폐가스의 처리를 수행하였다. 그리고 광도 제고가 각 운전조건에서의 폐가스처리효율에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 광촉매 코팅된 nonporous glass bead 담체와 porous silica-based 담체를 각각 광촉매반응기에 충전하였을 때에 반사필름이 부착된 개선된 광촉매반응기 외경에서 측정한 광도는, 반사필름이 부착되지 않아서 광도가 제고되지 않은 광촉매반응기보다 각각 30.1%와 28.5% 증가하였다. Porous silica-based 담체를 충전한 개선된 광촉매반응기의 제거효율에 대한 제고효과는 약 2~3%이었다. 그러나 glass-bead 담체를 충전했을 때에 개선된 광촉매반응기의 제거효율 제고효과는 미미하였다. Porous silica-based 담체가 충전된 개선된 광촉매반응기인 최적화 광촉매반응기의 경우의 황화수소 및 톨루엔 제거효율은 nonporous glass bead가 충전되고 반사막이 없는 광촉매반응기 경우의 제거효율인 각각 19%와 53%보다 각각 약 26%와 약 60%의 증가율을 보였다. 반사막 필름표면의 roughness가 종래의 상업용 거울의 roughness보다 4배 정도 컸으나, 향후 개선된 광촉매반응기의 반사막의 roughness를 개선할 경우에 광도 개선효과가 더욱 커져서 이에 따른 악취 및 VOC를 함유한 광촉매 처리효율이 더욱 제고되리라 예상된다.

TiO2를 코팅한 다공판을 설치한 원통형 UV 반응기에 의한 아세톤, 톨루엔, 메틸메르캅탄 단일 증기 및 2성분 혼합증기의 제거특성 (Removal Characteristics of Single and Binary Vapors of Acetone, Toluene, and Methyl Mercaptan by Cylindrical UV Reactor Installed with TiO2-Coated Perforated Plane)

  • The photocatalytic decomposition characteristics of toluene, acetone, and methyl mercaptan (MM) by UV reactor installed with $TiO_2$-coated perforated plane were studied. The removal efficiency of single toluene, acetone, and MM vapor was increased with increasing oxygen concentration, but decreased with increasing inlet concentration. Elimination capacity of single toluene, acetone, and MM vapor was obtained to be $628g/m^3{\cdot}day$, $1,041g/m^3{\cdot}day$, and $2,158g/m^3{\cdot}day$, respectively. Also, the photocatalytic decomposition of binary vapor consisted of toluene and acetone, toluene and MM, acetone and MM were observed. Elimination capacity of toluene mixed with acetone, toluene mixed with MM, acetone mixed with toluene, acetone mixed with MM, MM mixed with toluene, and MM mixed with acetone was $327g/m^3{\cdot}day$, $512g/m^3{\cdot}day$, $128g/m^3{\cdot}day$, $266g/m^3{\cdot}day$, $785g/m^3{\cdot}day$ and $883g/m^3{\cdot}day$, respectively. The inhibitory effect of acetone was higher than MM in photocatalytic decomposition of toluene, the inhibitory effect of toluene was higher than MM photocatalytic decomposition of acetone, and the inhibitory effect of toluene was higher than acetone in photocatalytic decomposition of MM.
