응집공정을 이용한 하수처리수 중의 인 제거 Mechanism (Removal Mechanism of Phosphorus in Wastewater Effluent using Coagulation Process)

  • 염기도에 따라 제조된 PACl 응집제에 함유된 Al 가수분해종의 분석결과, 염기도 증가에 따라 단분자성 Al종이 감소하고 고분자성 Al종은 증가하였으며, 염기도 2.2에서 가장 많은 고분자성 Al종을 함유하고 있었다. 단분자성 또는 저분자성 Al 가수분해종을 주로 함유하고 있는 alum과 r=0인 PACl에서 인의 제거효율이 가장 높은 것으로 나타나, 효율적인 인의 제거를 위해서는 단분자성이나 저분자성 Al 종을 많이 함유한 응집제가 더 효과적이라고 판단된다.

철염 응집과 펜톤 산화를 이용한 인의 존재형태별 처리 (Treatment of Phosphorus Species using Iron Coagulation and Fenton Oxidation)

  • Effects of $H_2O_2$ addition for fenton oxidation on iron coagulation for treatment of phosphorus species, such as orthophosphate, metaphosphate, pyrophosphate, organic phosphate, were investigated. The effects of coagulant dosage, hydrogen peroxide dosage and the combined sequence ferric coagulation and $H_2O_2$ addition for fenton oxidation and coagulation were studied. The characteristics of floc growth rate were monitored using the PDA. The removal efficiencies of phosphorus species by iron coagulation were increased as Fe/P molar ratio increased. However, the removal efficiencies of metaphosphate, pyrophosphate, organic phosphate by a ferric coagulation were not increased as Fe/P molar ratio increased. The removal efficiency of metaphosphate, pyrophosphate, organic phosphate was increased by using iron coagulation and $H_2O_2$ addition for fenton oxidation. The result indicated that non-reactive phosphorus after iron coagulation was changed to reactive phosphorus by $H_2O_2$ addition for fenton oxidation and the oxidized iron enhanced the coagulation efficiencies.

藻類細胞內 燐含量에 관한 연구 (Study on the Phosphorus Content of Algae)

  • Study was conducted on how the phosphorus content of algae changed by the algal species and the algal growth conditions. Phosphorus contents were not so different by algal species if algae grow on the same phosphorus concentration. Phosphorus content of algae grown on higher P medium was higher than that of algae grown on lower P medium. Algae excrete P-compounds from cell to the medium when the dissolved reactive phosphorus is depleted in the medium, and the excreted P-compounds were decomposed by algae and used for the growth of algae. Phosphorus content of algae grown in the P-limited condition was about 5-1 $\mu$gP/mg dry wt., but that of algae grown in the condition not P-lirnited was above 10$\mu$gP/rng dry wt.

수치모델을 이용한 와편모조류 Alexandrium tamarense, Gymnodinium catenatum 및 규조류 Skeletonema costatum의 종간 경쟁에 미치는 용존태 유기인의 영향 (Use of n Mathematical Model to Assess the Effects of Dissolved Organic Phosphorus on Species Competition Among the Dinoflagellates Alexandrium tamarense and Gymnodinium catenatum and the Diatom Skeletonema costatum)

  • Species competition among the toxic dinoflagellates Alexandrium tamarense and Gymnodinium catenatum and the diatom Skeletonema costatum was simulated using a mathematical model. Prior to the model simulation competition experiments using the three species were conducted to obtain data for validation by the simulation model. S. costatum dominated at a density of ${\sim}10^{4}\;cells/mL$ compared to the other species in the medium with dissolved inorganic phosphorus (DIP). The growth of S. costatum was also stimulated by the addition of dissolved organic phosphorus (DOP), such as uridine-5-monophosphate (UMP) or glycerophosphate (Glycero-P), although this species is unable to take up DOP. This implies that the growth of S. costatum may be supported by DIP, which is hydrolyzed by alkaline phosphatase produced from A. tamarense and G. catenatum. The species competition model was run assuming the environmental conditions of northern Hiroshima Bay, Japan, during spring and summer. G. catenatum increased in cell density and neared the level of S. costatum at the end of the calculation. In the sensitivity analyses by means of doubling and halving parameters, depleted DIP had little effect on the cell density of G. catenatum. However the growth of A. tamarense and S. costatum was significantly affected by changes in the parameter values. These results indicate that if DIP depletion is ongoing, species that have a large phosphate pool in their cells, such as G. catenatum, will predominate in the community.

금오산분지의 삼종 다년생 초목식물 개체군의 식물량생산과 인의 유입 (Biomass Production and Phosphorus Inflow in three Perennial Herb Populations in the Basin of the Mt. Geumoh)

  • Seasonal changes in pool size, inflow rates in biomass and phosphorus, and the efficiency of phosphorus use in the stand of three populations (Helianthus tuberosus, Artemisia princeps and Phalaris arundinacea) in the basin of the Mt. Geumoh were investigated. During the early growing period, in the three species populations the relative size of the phosphorus pool of population was larger then that of its biomass pool, but that of the phosphorus pool of belowground part decreased more rapidly than that of its biomass pool. In the A. princeps and P. arundinacea populations, the phosphorus inflow rate was markedly high during the soil thaw in early spring and its seasonal change pattern was different from that of the biomass production rate, showing two peaks in March and June. But in the H. tuberosus population, the two seasonal change patterns were alike. The annual biomass production was 2283 gDM m-2 in the H. tuberosus, 1884 m-2 in the A. princeps and 1879 gDM m-2 in the P. arundinacea population, and the annual phosphorus inflow was 11.35, 9.63 and 7.60 gP m-2, respectively. The P. arundinacea population showed the smallest LAI peak(5.4 in early June), and the largest NAR peak (36.9 gDM m-2wk-1) RGR peak (0.15g g-1 wk-1) among the three species populations. The seasonal change patterns in whole plant EPU of the three species populations showed the bell shape, but the annual EPU values among them were markedly different. It was noticed that the population with the highest RGR showed the highest EPU among the three species populations while the population with the lowest RGR showed the lowest EPU among them.

해저 퇴적물에 함유된 인의 존재 형태에 대한 연구 (Investigation of Phosphorus Species in Marine Sediment)

  • 국내 최초로 $ 31^{P}$NMR 및 XRD를 이용하여 월성원자력 발전소 인근의 해저 저질토에 대하여 퇴적물의 광물학적인 성분 분석 및 인의 존재형태에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 약 30 cm의 코아에 대한 연구결과, 광물종은 심도별로 변화가 없었으며 주 구성광물은 석영, 알바이트, 미사장석, 방해석과일라이트, 스멕타이트, 녹니석, 그리고 카올리나이트 등이 동정되었다. $^{31}$ P NMR 결과는 다른 외국의 해양 퇴적물에서 보고된 것과 같은 다양한 종의 인은 발견되지 않았으며, 단지 주로 orthophosphate-monoester와 함께 orthophosphate-diester로 판단되는 인이 아주 미량으로 같이 존재하는 것으로 밝혀졌으며 광물종의 경우와 마찬가지로 심도별 인의 종의 변화가 거의 없음을 보여준다. 본 연구 지역의 인은 주로 해양 생물로부터 기인한 것으로 판단된다. 인의 존재형태는 본 지역의 시료들이 산화환경에 있었음을 지시하며 XRD의 실험결과와 더불어 유추할 수 있듯이 본 시료에 대하여 동일한 퇴적환경과 산화환경이 계속되어 왔거나, 아니면 다양한 환경에 있던 것들이 후의 외부적 교란에 의하여 서로 혼합되어 표면의 산화환경에 계속적인 노출이 있었음을 지시한다.

Growth and fatty acid composition of three heterotrophic Chlorella species

  • Some Chlorella species grow heterotrophically with organic substrate in dark condition. However, heterotrophic Chlorella species are limited and their optimum culture conditions are not fully known. In this study, three heterotrophic Chlorella species, two strains (C4-3 and C4-4) of C. vulgaris and one Chlorella sp. (C4-8) were examined on optimum culture conditions such as carbon source, temperature, and concentrations of nitrogen and phosphorus in Jaworski's medium (JM). And the growth and fatty acid composition of Chlorella were analyzed. For three heterotrophic Chlorella species, glucose (1-2%) as a carbon source only increased the growth and the range of optimum culture temperature was $26-28^{\circ}C$. Doubled concentrations of the nitrogen or phosphorus in JM medium also improved the growth of Chlorella. Chlorella cultured heterotrophically showed significantly higher growth rate and bigger cell size than those autotrophically did. C. vulgaris (C4-3) cultured heterotrophically showed the highest biomass in dry weight ($0.8g\;L^{-1}$) among three species. With respect to fatty acid composition, the contents of C16:0 and n-3 highly unsaturated fatty acid (HUFA) were significantly higher in autotrophic Chlorella than in heterotrophic one and those of total lipid were not different between different concentrations of nitrogen and phosphorus in JM medium. Among three Chlorella species in this study, C. vulgaris (C4-3) appeared to be the most ideal heterotrophic Chlorella species for industrial application since it had a high biomass and lipid content.

Uptake and Excretion of Dissolved Organic Phosphorus by Two Toxic Dinoflagellates, Alexandrium tamarense Lebour (Balech) and Gymnodinium catenatum Graham

  • We performed experiments on the uptake and excretion of dissolved organic phosphorus (DOP) using two toxic dinoflagellates, Alexandrium tamarense Lebour (Balech) and Gymnodinium catenatum Graham, isolated from Hiroshima Bay, Japan. ATP (adenosine triphosphate), UMP (uridine-5-monophosphate), G-6-P (glucose-6-phosphate) and Glycero-P (glycerophosphate) were used as DOP sources in preliminary uptake experiments. ATP was selected as the DOP species for the short-tenn uptake experiment because preliminary experiments showed it to be the DOP source used by both species. Although the $K_s$ values of A. tamarense and G. catenatum (5.63 and $7.61{\mu}M$, respectively) obtained from the short-term experiments for ATP were only slightly higher than those reported for dissolved inorganic phosphorus (DIP), the ${\rho}_{max}$ values (5.04 pmol/cell/h and 13.4 pmol/cell/h, respectively) were much higher. The DOP excretion rate in batch-culture experiments was estimated at 0.084 pmol/cell/h for A. tamarense and 0.012 pmol/cell/h for G. catenatum, accounting for about 30% and 25%, respectively, of the assimilated phosphorus. Our results suggest that the DIP-depleted conditions of Hiroshima Bay favor these two species by supporting their ability to use DOP.

폐주물사를 이요한 인제거 (The Removal of Phosphorus by Spent Foundry Sand)

  • 폐주물사 재이용 방안으로 하수처리시 폐주물사를 여재로써 이용하여 인제거에 적용하고져 하였다. 용액의 pH를 2, 6, 11로 조정하여 인제거 실험한 결과 pH2에서 가장 우수한 제거율을 나타내었으며 폐주물산 100g 으로 반응시켰을 경우 2시간의 반응에서 99.9% 이상의 인제거율은 나타내었다. 또한 Langmuir 등온 흡착 모델에 적용한 결과 ${\Gamma}=0.0005{\theta}$/(1+2.4987 $\theta$)의 등온흡착식을 얻었으며 연속식 실험에서 파괴농도를 8mg/l로 하였을 경우 폐주물사의 파과시산은 25hrs으로 나타났다.

한국 연안역에서 분리한 식물플랑크톤의 alkaline phosphatase 활성과 용존태 유기인의 이용 (Alkaline Phosphatase Activity and Utilization of Dissolved Organic Phosphorus by Phytoplankton Isolated from Korean Coastal Waters)

  • Skeletonema costatum, Chaetoceros didymus, Alexandrium tamarense 그리고 Heterosigma akashiwo의 인 제한에 따른 용존태 유기인(dissolved organic phosphorus; DOP)의 이용성과 alkaline phosphatase(APase)의 활성을 살펴보기 위해 실내실험을 실시하였다. S. costatum, C. didymus, A. tamarense 그리고 H. akashiwo는 인 공급원으로써 용존태 무기인 (dissolved inorganic phosphorus; DIP) 이외에 phosphomonoester와 nucleotide 화합물을 이용하여 성장을 유지할 수 있었다. S. costatum, C. didymus, A. tamarense 그리고 H. a/wshiwo의 APase 활성은 배양액내의 DIP가 각각 $0.30\;{\mu}M$, $0.33\;{\mu}M$, $2.04\;{\mu}M$$0.63\;{\mu}M$에서 최초로 활성을 보였으며, 최대활성은 각각 $0.01\;pmol\;cell^{-1}\;hr^{-1}$, $0.11\;pmol\;cell^{-1}\;hr^{-1}$, $1.63\;pmol\;cell^{-1}\;hr^{-1}$$0.19\;pmol\;cell^{-1}\;hr^{-1}$였다. APase 활성은 종에 따라 다르게 나타났지만, 최대 활성은 DIP의 흡수속도보다도 높아 인이 제한된 환경에서 효과적으로 DOP를 가수분해하여 성장을 유지 할 수 있을 것으로 보인다. 따라서 DOP의 이용능력은 적조 플링크튼의 성장뿐만 아니라 종간경쟁에도 기여할 것으로 생각된다.
