Fibrous arsenic (As) adsorbent was synthesized by loading zirconium (Zr) on fibrous phosphoric adsorbent that was directly synthesized by radiation-induced graft polymerization of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate phosphoric acid on polyethylene-coated polypropylene nonwoven fabric. Zirconium reacted with phosphoric acid grafted in the polyethylene layer. Zirconium density of the resulting adsorbent was 4.1 mmol/g. The breakthrough curve of As(V) adsorption was independent of the flow rate up to $1300\;h^{-1}$ in space velocity. The total capacity of As(V) was 2.0 mmol/g-adsorbent at pH of 2. The adsorbed Zr(IV) could be evaluated by 0.4 M sodium hydroxide solution because negligible Zr(IV) could be found in the eluted solution.

The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of various parameters, such as temperature, mean current density and voltage on the performance of phosphoric acid fuel cell (PAFC) by numerical analysis. Two types of flow passages, which are Z-parallel type and Z-counter type, are evaluated to obtain the best current density and temperature distribution. Parametric studies and sensitivity analysis of the PAFC system's operation in single cell are accomplished. A steady state simulation of the entire system is developed using nonlinear ordinary differential equations. The finite difference method and trial and error procedures are used to obtain a solution.

Phosphoric acid treatments were conducted to improve the adhesion property of polyketone film to rubber. The effects of phosphoric acid treatments were characterized by using a contact angle analyzer and a XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy). Morphological changes were observed by using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and an atomic force microscope (AFM) as the acid treatment condition varied in concentration and time. The contact angle was found to significantly decrease with the acid treatment. According to the XPS, increased wettability was attributed to the inclusion of oxygen containing groups such as hydroxyl, carbonyl and carboxyl by acid treatments. Cracks and pores were produced on the polyketone film surface and thus, roughness increased with the acid treatment. Interfacial adhesion strength between polyketone and natural rubber was largely improved by acid treatment due to the increased wettability and roughness of the polyketone surface. However, the higher level of acid treatment caused the degradation of the polyketone surface, and thus, its interfacial adhesion consequently decreased.
128 freshly extracted human molars were used to study the interaction between dentinal smear layer removal with various agents, and the shear bond strength of a light cured glass ionomer cement to dentin. It was proposed that the removal of smear layers using acidic cleaners followed by incorporation of Fe mordant with dentin could enhanced the infiltration of monomer component in light curing glass ionomer cement and resulted in a high bond strength. For the first treatment process for removal of smear layers on the surfaces of dentin, 50 % citric acid, 10% maleic acid and 10 % phosphoric acid were used, and for the second treatment process, 15% ferric chloride, 6.8% ferric oxalate or 30% potassium oxalate were used. Distilled water was used as a control. After double sequential treatment on dentin, a light curing glass ionomer cement was bonded to dentin. After being immersed in water at 31'C for 24 hours, shear bond strengths were measured Instron testing machine(Model No.4202, USA). Surface changes were also observed using SEM (Hitachi, S-2300, Japan) after treatment process with each agents. The following conclusions were drawn : 1. Dentin surface cleaned with maleic acid and treated with ferric oxalate showed the highest bond strength with light curing glass ionomer cement. 2. Bond strengths of glass ionomer cement to dentin treated with maleic acid or citric acid were the highest, and that treated with phosphoric acid showed the lowest. 3. The effect of ferric oxalate on shear bond strength to dentin was always higher than that of ferric chloride. 4. The smear layers were clearly removed and the orifices of dentinal tubules were opened widely by the citric acid, maleic acid and phosphoric acid. 5. The orifices of dentinal tubules opened after using the first solution were closed with the treatment of ferric chloride. 6. The precipitate like crystals were formed on dentin surfaces and tubules, but a significant decrease in bond strength of glass ionomer cement to dentin surface treated with potassium oxalate.
We carried out DFT calculations for monohydrated sulfuric and phosphoric acids. We are interested in clusters which differ in orientation of hydrogen atoms only. Such molecular complexes are close in energy, since they lie in the vicinity of the global minimum energy structure on the flat potential energy surface. For monohydrated sulfuric acid we identified four different isomers. The monohydrated phosphoric acid forms five different conformers. These systems are difficult to study from the theoretical point of view, since binding energy differences in several cases are very small. For each structure, we calculated harmonic vibrational frequencies to be sure that if the optimized structures are at the local or global minima on the potential energy surface. The analysis of calculated -OH vibrational frequencies is useful in interpretation of infrared photodissociation spectroscopy experiments. We employed four different DFT functionals in our calculations. For each structure, we calculated binding energies, thermodynamic properties, and harmonic vibrational frequencies. Our analysis clearly shows that DFT approach is suitable for studying monohydrated inorganic acids with different hydrogen atom orientations. We carried out MP2 calculations with aug-cc-pVDZ basis set for both monohydrated acids. MP2 results serve as a benchmark for DFT calculations.

This study was carried out to survey the growth and the photosynthesis of Salix gracilistyla, the reduction rate of nitrogen and phosphoric acid by the plant grown in waterway soil. The results were summarized as follows; I. The contents of nitrogen and phosphoric acid at waterway soils of Mangyeong river showed the highest level in the around Samrye railway bridge where was located in the downstream and livestock complex. 2. The Salix gracilistyla which grown in waterway soil showed that the growth of stem length and diameter were 170~215% and 42.3~79.3%, respectively. In addition the growth rate of Salix gracilistyla was increased with increasing nitrogen concentrations in waterway soils. 3. The rate of photosynthesis was high in waterway soil contained high nitrogen and it appeared the highest in August. 4. The nitrogen and phosphoric acid by Salix gracilistyla grown in waterway soil were removed about 14~15% and 9~11 %, respectively. The Salix gracilistyla was effective removing nitrogen more than phosphoric acid.

To date, porous alumina structures have been implemented by electrochemical anodization technique. The anodizing methods can easy to make a porous aluminum oxide film with a regular arrangement, but oxide film with complex structure type such as pillar-on-pore is relatively difficult to implement. Therefore, this study aims to observe the change of anodized oxide pore size, thickness, and structure in a phosphoric acid solution according to applied anodization voltage conditions. For the implementation of hybrid composite oxide structures, it is possible to create by modulating anodization voltage. The experimental conditions were performed at the applied anodization voltage of 100 V and 120 V in 10% phosphoric acid solution, respectively. The experimental results were able to observe the structure of oxides in the form of porous and composite structures (pillar-on-pore), depending on each condition.
The aim of present study in vitro was to evaluate and compare the effects of different washing times of enamels etched with low phosphoric acid solution which makes unsoluble salts and etched but contaminated with saliva on shear bond strength of an orthodontic adhesive to enamel, and to observe the washing effect on the etched enamel surface by scanning electron microscope. All brackets were bonded with Mono-$Lok2^{TM)}$) on the labial surface of extracted human bicuspids after etching with $20w/w\%\;and\;37w/w$ and phosphoric acid solution for 60seconds and then washing for 0,5,10 and 20seconds respectedly. After etching with $37w/w\%$ phosphoric acid solution and contaminating with saliva for 30seconds and then washing for 0,5,20 and 30seconds and re-etching for 10seconds. After 24hours passed in the $37^{\circ}C$ water bath, the shear bond strengths were measured on Universal Test Machine. The data were evaluated and tested by ANOVA and Duncan's multiple range test, and those results were as follows. 1. There was no significant differences between (p>0.05) shear bond strength of bonded brackets with 5, 10, 20seconds washing etched enamel using $37{\%}w/w{\%}$ phosphoric acid solution. 2. The shear bond strength of bonded brackets with $20w/w\%$ phosphoric acid and then washing for 5seconds showed bonded strength durable to occlusal force but its coefficiency score was high and etched surface was not cleaned completely and therefore it was assumed that its clinical application is not applicable. 3. There was no significant differences between (p>0.05) shear bond strengths of bonded brckets with washing for 5seconds etched enamel using $37w/w\%$ phosphoric acid solution and 10,20 seconds washing etched enamel using $20w/w\%$ phosphoric acid solution. 4. The shear bond strength of washing for 5seconds etched enamel which was contaminated with saliva showed sufficient bonded strength durable to occlusal force but its coefficiency score was high and therefore its clinical application was not applicable. 5. After etching, the sample contaminated with saliva showed the sufficient shear bond strength even washing 20seconds without re-etching.
Porous calcium phosphates were successfully fabricated by using a cuttlefish bone. The cuttlefish bone, which is composed of $CaCO_3$, showed a special porous microstructure containing uniform-sized voids. In this study, the pre-forms infiltrated distilled phosphoric acid were sintered at $1200^{\circ}C$ in an air atmosphere. The porous microstructure of the pre-forms was kept their original pattern after sintering with a synthesis of calcium phosphate. The obtained porous calcium phosphate, sintered at $1200^{\circ}C$ for 3 h at 17% concentration of phosphoric acid, showed uniform open pores of 150 ${\mu}m$ in size and $\beta$-TCP phase in the XRD patterns. Above 16% concentration, CaO phase, derived from the decomposition of $CaCO_3$, decreased gradually in the sintered samples, and the measured Ca/P ratios of the samples prepared from 16% and 18% concentration were 1.67 and 1.43, which are close to stoichiometric HA (1.66) and $\beta$-TCP (1.50).
