  • The effect of power supply noise on the phase noise of a ring oscillator is studied. The power supply noise source in series with DC power supply voltage is applied to a 3 stage CMOS ring oscillator. The phase noise due to the power supply noise is modeled by the narrow band phase modulation. The model is verified by the fact that the spectrum of output of ring oscillator has two side bands at the frequencies offset from the frequency of the ring oscillator by the frequency of the power supply noise source. Simulations at several different frequency of the power supply noise reveals that the ring oscillator acts as a low pass filter to the power supply noise. This study, as a result, shows that the phase noise generated by the power supply noise is inversely proportional to the frequency offset from the carrier frequency.

  • Blue phase shows several different reflection colors from the randomly oriented domains and crystal direction. Also there are variations in the size of domains. The domain size is dependent on the temperature gradient. With smaller cooling rate of temperature, the domain size was increased compared with rapid cooling. With injection of light of specific wavelength, we find that the diffraction patterns were occurred around the light spot in the cell of blue phase. It was supposed to be from the matching of the phase retardation and domain size. However, actually the diffraction pattern is reflecting the lattice structure in double twist of the blue phase. The lattice constant from the radius of diffraction patterns shows very similar one from the reflection spectrum, which indicates the internal lattice constant in double twist of the blues phase.

  • In this paper, we present a new sensing method based on phase entropy. Entropy is a measurement which quantifies the information content contained in a signal. For the PSK modulation, the information is encoded in the phase of the transmitted signal. By focusing on phase, more information is collected during sensing, which suggests a superior performance. The sensing based on Phase entropy is not limited to PSK signal. We generalize it to PAM signal as well. It is more advantageous to detect the phase. The simulation results have confirmed the excellent performance of this novel sensing algorithm.

  • We describe a comb-mode resolving spectroscopic technique by direct time-domain phase correction of unstable interferograms obtained from loosely locked two femtosecond lasers. A low-cost continuous wave laser and conventional repetition rate stabilization method were exploited for locking carrier and envelope phase of interferograms, respectively. We intentionally set the servo control at low bandwidth, resulting in severe interferograms' fluctuation to demonstrate the capability of the proposed correction method. The envelope phase of each interferogram was estimated by a quadratic fit of carrier peaks to correct timing fluctuation of interferograms in the time domain. After envelope phase correction on individual interferograms, we successfully demonstrated 1 Hz linewidth of RF comb-mode over 200 GHz optical spectral-bandwidth with 10-times signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) enhancement compared to the spectrum without correction. Besides, the group delay difference between two femtosecond pulses is successfully estimated through a linear slope of phase information.

  • In this paper, we modelized the multipath fading to Nakagami-m distribution fading channel which can be applied to the extended mobile communication channel environment. We assumed that the phase difference with reference signal happened in the received signal and in the receiver PLL(Phase Locked Loop) is the phase error. To correct the error we propose new RAKE receiver using PLL. In addition, we analyze the performance of DS/SS(Direct Sequence/spread Spectrum) system according to the gain of PLL,$\gamma_n$, the number of RAKE receiver branch L and MIP(Multipath Intensity Profile)'s exponential decay $\delta$. As a result, when the proposed RAKE receiver L Is increased and the $\delta$ is decreased the performance of the system gets better. Futhermore when PLL gain was 30dB, phase is identified. That is when the PLL gain is 30dB, the performance equals with the perfect coherent system's. Therefore, we can correct the phase error by using the proposed RAKE receiver and we proved that the PLL's requested limit gain should be 30dB.

  • It has been generally used for PLL(Phase Locked Loop) to be synthesized randomly chosen frequency state, but the PLL locking time was inevitable element. A direct digital synthesizer. Which makes output frequency directly in sine wave by a phase accumulating method, could be leiminate the defect, although a phase distortion in frequency spectrum. In order to improve this disadvantage, the phase accumulating method is reconsidered in the side of he output wave formula expression. A new mechanism is proposed, and it is constructed by a most suitable logic elements. The spectrum of synthesized sine waveform is simulated and compared with a measured value, and it’s the coherence frequency hoppong state with the PN(Pseudo Noise) code sequence is confirmed. In this results, the power levels of phase distortion harmonics are decreased to 10~25dB and bandwidths are increased to 420kHz.

  • Strain SA72 was isolated from Jeot-gal and identified as producer of a bacteriocin, which showed some bactericidal activity against Lactobacillus delbrueckii ATCC 4797. Strain SA72 was tentatively identified as Lactococcus lactis according to the AOI test. Lactococcus lactis SA72 showed a broad spectrum of microorganisms, tested by the modified deferred method. The activity of lacticion SA72, named tentatively as a bacteriocin produced by Lactococcus lactis SA72, was detected during the mid-lon growth phase, reached a maximum during the early stationary phase, and then declined after the late stationary phase. Lacticin SA72 also showed a relatively broad spectrum of activity against non-pathogenic and pathogenic microorganisms when assessed by the spot-on-lawn method. Its anitimicrobial activity on sensitive indicator cells disappeared completely by protease XIV treatment. The inhibitory activity of lacticin SA72 remained after treatment for 15 min at $121^{\circ}C$, 문 was stable in a pH range of 2.0 to 9.0 and all organic solvents examined. It demonstrated a typical bactericidal mode of inhibition against Lactobacillus delbrueckii ATCC 4797. The apparent molecular mass of lacticin SA72 was in the region of 3-3.5 kDa, determined by SDS-PAGE.

  • This article presents a novel cooperative spectrum sharing (CSS) scheme. The primary transmitter transmits a complex Quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) signal in the first phase, and CSS occurs in the second phase. The secondary transmitter with the largest forwarding channel gain among the nodes that successfully decode the primary signal in the first phase is selected for CSS. This selected node employs a pulse-amplitude modulation (PAM) signal for primary information message (IM) instead of the QAM signal, and it employs a modified PAM signal for the secondary IM. The proposed modified PAM signal depends on the amplitude of the primary PAM signal. This method results in no mutual interference and negligible primary interference constraint and allows a higher degree of exploitation of spatial diversity, thus enabling increase in secondary power to improve primary transmission. The outage performance is enhanced in both the primary and secondary systems. The critical region, in which the primary outage performance is enhanced with the proposed CSS scheme, can be adjusted and widened by varying either the modulation cooperation sharing factor or the number of secondary transmitters.

  • In this paper, a rotation invariant fingerprint identification system is implemented using the circular harmonic filter and phase only correlator. We extracted the phase component from input fingerprint image and correlate it with the circular harmonic filter of the reference fingerprint image by POC. The input image is obtained using a prism operating in the internal full reflection mode. Then the input image is transformed to two dimensional Fourier spectrum in optical way and the phase component is extracted using a digital system from the spectrum. Because composed of the optical system and digital algorithm, the proposed system has the advantages of the two technologies such as realtime parallel processing property of the optics and the flexibility of the digital system.
