In this paper it is purpose that reduces joint torques and their rate of change through optimizing trajectory planning of biped walking machine. The motion of biped walking machine is divided into leg motion for walking and body motion for keeping balance. The leg motion is planned by three phases, that are deploy, swing, and place phases, in terms of the state of foot against floor. The distribution of time assigned to each phase is optimized and that causes leg joint torques and their rate of change to minimize. The body notion is produced by using optimal control theory which minimizes body joint torques and satisfies Z.M.P. constraints defined as region of each phase.
This paper presents a new classification method for high impedance faults in power systems. Results of phase plane trajectory with Clarke modal transformation using postfault current and voltage are utilized to classify types of arcing faults. The performance of the proposed method is tested on a typical 154 kV korean transmission system under various fault conditions using EMTP. As can be seen from results, phase plane trajectory of postfault current should be combined with that of o component from Clarke modal transformation to give reliability of clear fault classification. Thus the proposed method can classify arcing faults including LIFs and HIFs accurately in power systems.

The study of bipedal robot is towards similar shape and function with human. In this paper, we propose a human-like walking pattern compatible to the flexible foot with toe and heel structure. The new walking pattern for a bipedal robot consists of ZMP, center of mass (CoM), and ankle trajectory and is drawn by considering human kinesiology. First, the ZMP trajectory moves forward without stopping at a point even in the single support phase. The corresponding CoM trajectory to the ZMP one is derived by solving differential equations. As well, a CoM trajectory for the vertical axis is added by following the idea of human motion. The ankle trajectory closely mimics the rotational motion of human ankles during taking off and landing on the ground. The advantages of the proposed walking pattern are demonstrated by showing improved stability, decreased ankle torque, and the longer step length capability. Specifically, it is interesting to know that the vertical CoM motion is able to compensate for the initial transient response.

The kinematic characteristics of cutting device significantly affects cutting performance in 2-dimensional elliptical vibration cutting(EVC) where the cutting tool cuts workpiece, traversing a micro-scale elliptical trajectory in a trochoidal motion. In this study, kinematical characteristics of EVC device constructed with two parallel stacked piezoelectric actuators were analytically modeled and compared with the experimental results. The EVC device was subjected to step and low-frequency(0.1 Hz) sinusoidal inputs to reveal only its kinematical displacement characteristics. Hysteresis in the motion of the device was observed in the thrust direction and distinctive skew of the major axis of the elliptical trajectory of the cutting tool was also noticed. Discrepancy in the voltage-to-displacement characteristics of the piezoelectric actuators was found to largely contribute to the skew of the major axis of the elliptical trajectory of the cutting tool. Analytical kinematical model predicted the cutting direction displacement within 10 % error in magnitude with no phase error, but in estimating the thrust direction displacement, it showed a $27^{\circ}$ of phase-lag compared with the measured displacement with no magnitude error.

This paper proposes an optimization-based procedure to determine the parameters of the Apollo guidance law for Korean lunar lander mission. A lunar landing mission is formulated as a trajectory optimization problem to minimize the fuel consumption and the reference trajectory for the lander is obtained by solving the problem in the pre-flight phase. Some parameters of the Apollo guidance, which are coefficients of the polynomial used to define the guidance command, are selected based on the reference trajectory obtained in the pre-flight phase. A case study for the landing guidance of Korean lunar lander mission using the proposed procedure is conducted to demonstrate its effectiveness.
In this paper we investigate some issues and solutions related to the design of a Data Warehouse (DW), storing several aggregate measures about trajectories of moving objects. First we discuss the loading phase of our DW which has to deal with overwhelming streams of trajectory observations, possibly produced at different rates, and arriving in an unpredictable and unbounded way. Then, we focus on the measure presence, the most complex measure stored in our DW. Such a measure returns the number of distinct trajectories that lie in a spatial region during a given temporal interval. We devise a novel way to compute an approximate, but very accurate, presence aggregate function, which algebraically combines a bounded amount of measures stored in the base cells of the data cube. We conducted many experiments to show the effectiveness of our method to compute such an aggregate function. In addition, the feasibility of our innovative trajectory DW was validated with an implementation based on Oracle. We investigated the most challenging issues in realizing our trajectory DW using standard DW technologies: namely, the preprocessing and loading phase, and the aggregation functions to support OLAP operations.
The dynamic characteristics of power systems become more and more complex because of the integration of large-scale wind power, which needs appropriate control strategy to guarantee stable operation. With wide area measurement system(WAMS) creating conditions for realizing realt-ime transient stability analysis, a new coordinated control strategy for power system transient stability control based on phase-plane trajectory was proposed. When the outputs of the wind farms change, the proposed control method is capable of selecting optimal generators to balance the deviation of wind power and prevent transient instability. With small disturbance on the base operating point, the coordinated sensitivity of each synchronous generator is obtained. Then the priority matrix can be formed by sorting the coordinated sensitivity in ascending order. Based on the real-time output change of wind farm, coordinated generators can be selected to accomplish the coordinated control with wind farms. The results in New England 10-genrator 39-bus system validate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed coordinated control strategy.
It has been studied that galaxies evolve following a typical trajectory on the phase space under the influence of deep gravitational potential of galaxy clusters. Similarly, the large-scale filaments could also affect the evolution of galaxies before falling into the clusters. In this study, using a dark matter-only cosmological simulation, N-Cluster Run, we explore the evolution of galaxies on the phase space drien by large-scale filaments. We find that galaxies around the filaments form a common trajectory on the phase space as well as cluster galaxies do. We also examine how these trajectories change depending on various physical parameters such as galaxy mass, initial distance of galaxies from large-scale filaments, and cluster mass.
The purpose of this study was to provide information about kinematic variables of the gliding and delivery motion of Hyung-Keun Lee, a high school shot putter who was ranked 1st at the 2011 National Sports Festivals. Three-Dimensional motion analysis using a system of 4 video cameras at a sampling frequency of 60 Hz was conducted during shot-putting events at the 2011 National Sports Festivals. During the gliding and delivery phase of the player the results showed following characteristics; 1) The gliding technique types of the player appeared to be the short-long technique as the gliding and stance length ratio were $42.3{\pm}3.87$ % and $57.7{\pm}3.87$ %, respectively. In addition, the trajectory of shots during the gliding and delivery phase showed different trajectory patterns with "S-shaped" type of elite players due to the deviation from a central axis of the APSS (athletic-plus shot system). 2) The horizontal velocity of COG made from gliding should maintain the velocity during transition and release phase, but the player showed a small momentum for a gradual decrease of velocity. 3) Therefore, the player requires to adjust an appropriate ratio between gliding and stance length with a strong muscle power at the trunk, throwing arm, and the lower extremity during gliding and delivery phase.

An active synthetic aperture sonar mounted on small UUV is generated various trajectory disturbances in the traveling path by the influence of external underwater environments. That is the phase mismatch occurs in the synthetic aperture processing of the signals reflected from seabed objects and fetches the detection performance decreases. In this paper, we compensated deteriorated images by the active SAS autofocus processing using DPC and analyzed the effects of detection performance when the periodic trajectory disturbances occur in the side direction at a constant velocity and straight movement of UUV. Through simulations, the deteriorated images according to the periodic disturbance magnitudes and period variations in the platform were compensated using difference phases processing of the overlapping displaced phase centers on the adjacent transmitted ping signals, and we conformed the improved performance characteristics of azimuth resolution and detection images at 3dB reference point.
