Economic Feasibility and Basic Technical Requirements for Tube Transportation System (튜브운송시스템 경제성과 성능요구조건)

  • Currently, urban areas face congestion problems that diminish personal mobility and freight-transport productivity. An increasing number of experts suggest that separating freight traffic from passenger traffic makes sense in terms of economics, the environment, and safety. Some experts suggest that tube transportation is the solution. The objective of this paper is to evaluate the potential benefits and limitations of tube transportation system as a viable mode of transport that can alleviate congestion on roadways. Specifically, this research employs theoretical and practical method identifying, evaluating, and selecting appropriate freight pipeline systems; evaluating the technical and economic feasibility of tube transportation; and estimating environmental, energy, and safety benefits.

  • Various policies and services are being implemented in Korea and other countries, such as the expansion of convenience facilities for mobility support, the provision of special means of transportation, and the establishment of public transportation route plans and fare policies based on data and AI-based movement pattern analysis to ensure the mobility rights of the weak in transportation. However, A research is still needed to improve service convenience in order to more conveniently use the desired means of transportation in a necessary situation from the viewpoint of the transportation vulnerable. This study examines the policies and services for the promotion of mobility for the transportation disadvantaged, and presents a MyData-based service model for mobility support for the transportation disadvantaged. In the proposed service model, the transportation-disabled person can freely choose and use the means of transportation according to individual circumstances, and receive the same transportation welfare voucher benefits provided by the state or government. The proposed service model defines the MyData platform that supports the safe collection and use of personal data, the authentication of traffic welfare recipients based on MyData, and the payment function for fee settlement after using the service as key components. In this research, the service satisfaction from the user's point of view was investigated by implementing the proposed service model and providing a demonstration service for the transportation vulnerable in Daejeon.

  • Recently, the processing and utilization of big data, which is generated by the spread of smartphone, SNS, and the internet of things, is emerging as a new growth engine of ICT field. However, in order to utilize such big data, De-identification of personal information should be done. De-identification removes identifying information from a data set so that individual data cannot be linked with specific individuals. De-identification can reduce the privacy risk associated with collecting, processing, archiving, distributing or publishing information, thus it attempts to balance the contradictory goals of using and sharing personal information while protecting privacy. De-identified information has also been re-identified and has been controversial for the protection of personal information, but the number of instances where personal information such as big data is de-identified and processed is increasing. In addition, many de-identification guidelines have been introduced and a method for de-identification of personal information has been proposed. Therefore, in this study, we describe the big data de-identification process and follow-up management, and then compare and analyze de-identification methods. Finally we provide personal information protection issues and solutions.

Exposure Assessment and Estimation of Nitrogen Dioxide on Office Worker Using Passive Monitor -Comparative Study of Seoul in Korea and Brisbane in Australia- (수동식 시료채취기를 이응한 사무실 직장인의 산화질소 노출평가 및 예측 -한국의 서울과 호주의 브리스베인 비교 연구-)

  • Indoor and outdoor nitrogen dioxide (NO$_2$) concentrations were measured and compared with measurements of personal exposures of 95 persons in Seoul, Korea and 57 persons in Brisbane, Australia, respectively. Time activity diary was used to determine the impact on NO$_2$ exposure assessment and microenvironmental model to estimate the personal NO$_2$ exposure. Most people both Seoul and Brisbane spent their times more than 90% of indoor and more than 50% in home, respectively. Personal NO$_2$ exposures were significantly associated with indoor NO$_2$ levels with Pearson coefficient of 0.70 (p<0.01) and outdoor NO$_2$ levels with Pearson coefficient of 0.66 (p<0.01) in Seoul and of 0.51 (p<0.01) and of 0.33 (p<0.05) in Brisbane, respectively. Using microenvironmental model by time weighted average model, personal NO$_2$ exposures were estimated with NO$_2$ measurements in indoor home, indoor office and outdoor home. Estimated NO$_2$ measurements were significantly correlated with measured personal exposures (r = 0.69, p<0.001) in Seoul and in Brisbane (r = 0.66, p<0.001), respectively. Difference between measured and estimated NO$_2$ exposures by multiple regression analysis was explained that NO$_2$ levels in near workplace and other outdoors in Seoul (p = 0.023), and in transportation in Brisbane (p = 0.019) affected the personal NO$_2$ exposures.

  • Personal mobility (PM) is a new concept of transportation used by one or two people using electricity. Personal transportation aims to move quickly and conveniently over an ambiguous distance that is too close to the destination and too far to walk. In particular, as electric kickboard sharing services have become more common in recent years, they are receiving great popularity from citizens. However, it is necessary to come up with an alternative solution as it is acting as a risk not only to users but also to pedestrians and road drivers. Therefore, in order to present measures to establish and improve a safe personal mobility utilization environment, this research was conducted as follows. First, based on GPS data from shared electric kickboards, the usage status in everyday life was examined and analyzed in detail. Second, it is convenient to rent and return shared electric kickboards directly to applications regardless of time, and it is highly accessible to rent them from their location and reach their destination. Based on these findings, this study suggests that careful access to rental and return could have a more positive effect on users and pedestrians by installing a cradle in a place where there is more use than disorderly device placement and expansion.

Influence of COVID-19 on Public Transportation Mode Change and Countermeasures (COVID-19에 따른 대중교통수단 변화에 미치는 영향 분석 및 대책에 관한 연구)

  • The number of public transportation users has dropped drastically due to COVID-19. In this work, my survey was conducted to uncover the factors that influence citizens' travel patterns. Data were collected and logistic regression analysis on the shifts in transportation was undertaken. Additionally, an importance-performance analysis was carried out to investigate how to effectively operate public transportation systems and improve facilities. The main research findings were as follows: First, the more individuals were concerned about COVID-19 (+) and being infected when using public transportation (+), the greater the tendency to switch to private transportation modes. Secondly, when it came to personal traits, respondents who could drive a car (+) or owned a car (+)or did more online shopping (+) or used public transportation for trips (+) tended to switch over, compared with respondents who could not drive or did not own a caror used public transportation to commute. In addition, respondents who were vaccinated (-) or had more household members tended not to switch transportation modes, compared with those who were not vaccinated or had fewer household members. Third, it is important to continue the following efforts to safeguardhygiene linked to public transportation: wearing masks, disinfecting hands, controlling diseases, and general cleaning. The conclusion was that it is important to put traffic congestion and ventilation issues first, especially in regards public transportation, which was not rated as satisfactory enough compared to its importance. The research findings can provide useful basic data when establishing countermeasures to the current COVID-19 circumstances in the areas of public transportation operation and management and in the event of an infectious disease outbreak in the future.

Analysis of the Current Status and Correlation of Traffic Demand according to the COVID-19 Indicator (코로나 19 지표에 따른 교통수요 현황 및 상관관계 분석)

  • In January 2020, the first COVID-19 confirmed patient occurred in Korea, and the pandemic continues to this day. In unprecedented situations, COVID-19 also affected the transportation sector, and there were no appropriate measures against changes in traffic volume and use of public transportation due to changes in citizens' lifestyles. Currently, each local government has not established separate measures for pandemic disease measures. In order to establish future disease countermeasures in the transportation sector, a predictive model was developed by analyzing the traffic volume and the number of public transportation uses, and conducting correlation analysis with the current status of COVID-19. As a result of the analysis, the traffic volume decreased, but the traffic volume decreased due to the increase in personal transportation, but it did not reach the number of public transportation uses. In addition, it was analyzed that the use of public transportation was initially affected by the number of confirmed cases, but over time, it was more sensitive to death and mortality than to the number of confirmed cases.

A Correlation Study between the Environmental, Personal Exposures and Biomarkers for Volatile Organic Compounds (대기 중 휘발성유기오염물질의 환경, 개인 및 인체 노출의 상관성 연구)

  • Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are an important public health problem throughout the world. Many important questions remain to be addressed in assessing exposure to these compounds. Because they are ubiquitous and highly volatile, special techniques must be applied in the analytical determination of VOCs. Personal exposure measurements are needed to evaluate the relationship between microenvironmental concentrations and actual exposures. It is also important to investigate exposure frequency, duration, and intensity, as well as personal exposure characteristics. In addition to air monitoring, biological monitoring may contribute significantly to risk assessment by allowing estimation of absorbed doses, rather than just the external exposure concentrations, which are evaluated by environmental and personal monitoring. This study was conducted to establish the analytic procedure of VOCs in air, blood, urine and exhaled breath and to evaluate the relationships among these environmental media. The subjects of this study were selected because they are occupationally exposed to high levels of VOCs. Environmental, personal, blood, urine and exhalation samples were collected. Purge & trap, thermal desorber, gas chromatography and mass selective detector were used to analyze the collected samples. Analytical procedures were validated with the“break through test”, 'quot;recovery test for storage and transportation”,“method detection limit test”and“inter-laboratory QA/QC study”. Assessment of halogenated compounds indicted that they were significantly correlated to each other (p value < 0.01). In a similar manner, aromatic compounds were also correlated, except in urine sample. Linear regression was used to evaluate the relationships between personal exposures and environmental concentrations. These relationships for aromatic and halogenated are as follows: Halogen $s_{personal}$ = 3.875+0.068Halogen $s_{environmet}$, ($R^2$= .930) Aromatic $s_{personal}$ = 34217.757-31.266Aromatic $s_{environmet}$, ($R^2$= .821) Multiple regression was used to evaluate the relationship between exposures and various exposure deter-minants including, gender, duration of employment, and smoking history. The results of the regression model-ins for halogens in blood and aromatics in urine are as follows: Halogen $s_{blood}$ = 8.181+0.246Halogen $s_{personal}$+3.975Gender ($R^2$= .925), Aromatic $s_{urine}$ = 249.565+0.135Aromatic $s_{personal}$ -5.651 D.S ($R^2$ = .735), In conclusion, we have established analytic procedures for VOC measurement in biological and environmental samples and have presented data demonstrating relationships between VOCs levels in biological media and environmental samples. The probability approach for the personal risk calculation of the passenger due to a tunnel fire (터널 화재시 승객의 개인적 위험도 계산에 대한 확률적 접근)

  • The land transportation is the most common way to transport passengers as well as freight among other mode of transportations and consequently more likely to be constructed for faster and convenient travel In this regard, the demand for tunnel constructions will be increasing and the safety inside the tunnel will be considered major concern more than ever. In this paper, we show probabilistic methodology to calculate the personal risk of each evacuee starting from a different location in a tunnel on fire. Passenger evacuation time and smoke spread time are both assumed to be continuous random variables having specific distributions. The evacuation of passengers at each location and the safety facilities inside the tunnel are also crucial factors to calculate the probability of death.

  • Inernet of Things(IoT) is interaction with each other, collecting, sharing, and analysing the data. IoT has been noted in combining the fields of medical service in particular. However, the security issue is caused, while IoT is receiving attention. U-Health and medical devices, which deal mainly the personal health information, is required to a high level of privacy and security of health information. This study analyzes cases of leakage of personal medical information, security of IoT, privacy flow, and the response strategies.
