  • Although online search engine service provide a convenient means to search for information on the World Wide Web, it also poses a risk of disclosing privacy. Regardless of such risk, most of users are neither aware of their personal information being exposed on search results nor how to redress the issue by requesting removal of information. According to the 2015 parliamentary inspection of government offices, many government agencies were criticized for mishandling of personal information and its leakage on online search engine such as Google. Considering the fact that the personal information leakage via online search engine has drawn the attention at the government level, the online search engine and privacy issue needs to be rectified. This paper, by examining current online search engines, studies the degree of personal information exposure on online search results and its underlying issues. Lastly, based on research result, the paper provides a sound policy and direction to the removal of exposed personal information with respect to search engine service provider and user respectively.

  • All academic information on the web or elsewhere has its creator, that is, a subject who has created the information. The subject can be an individual, a group, or an institution, and can be a nation depending on the nature of the relevant information. Most information is composed of a title, an author, and contents. An essay which is under the academic information category has metadata including a title, an author, keyword, abstract, data about publication, place of publication, ISSN, and the like. A patent has metadata including the title, an applicant, an inventor, an attorney, IPC, number of application, and claims of the invention. Most web-based academic information services enable users to search the information by processing the meta-information. An important element is to search information by using the author field which corresponds to a personal name. This study suggests a method of efficient indexing and using the adjacent operation result ranking algorithm to which phrase search-based boosting elements are applied, and thus improving the accuracy of the search results of personal names. It also describes a method for providing the results of searching co-authors and related researchers in searching personal names. This method can be effectively applied to providing accurate and additional search results in the academic information services.

  • In this paper we propose Personal Information Management System for Library Database. It manages personal search pattern for the given user and provide specific book list for library book search system. With the proposed system, the conventional overlap searching time will be decreased with personalized information and search history. This system manages the individual data according to personal searching pattern, sequence and usability. Therefore, the user can locate necessary book information more accurately with their distinct interest and search history.

  • As the amount of information overflows, the personal information produced, utilized is difficult to find immediately because of the huge amount and diversity of information. Accordingly, it is necessary for an individual to manage effectively the personal information. This study proposes using desktop search tools as a way of the effective management of personal digital depositary and presents their problems and improvements through comparison and analysis of six desktop search tools.

  • Conjunctive keyword search encryption is an important technique for protecting sensitive personal health records that are outsourced to cloud servers. It has been extensively employed for cloud storage, which is a convenient storage option that saves bandwidth and economizes computing resources. However, the process of searching outsourced data may facilitate the leakage of sensitive personal information. Thus, an efficient data search approach with high security is critical. The multi-user search function is critical for personal health records (PHRs). To solve these problems, this paper proposes a novel multi-user conjunctive keyword search scheme (mNCKS) without a secure channel against keyword guessing attacks for personal health records, which is referred to as a secure channel-free mNCKS (SCF-mNCKS). The security of this scheme is demonstrated using the Decisional Bilinear Diffie-Hellman (DBDH) and Decision Linear (D-Linear) assumptions in the standard model. Comparisons are performed to demonstrate the security advantages of the SCF-mNCKS scheme and show that it has more functions than other schemes in the case of analogous efficiency.

  • The purpose of this study is to make up an effective market strategy for distinguishing clothing shops through analysing the influences on store choice behaviors by demographical characteristics, clothing shopping orientations and information search activities as well as analysing the effects of information search activities according to clothing shopping orientations, together with clarifying the dimension of clothing shopping orientations and information search activities. Clothing shopping orientations were factor analyzed resulting five factors, such as Recreational Shopping, Store/Brand Loyalty, Economic Shopping, Fashion Synchronization, Careful shopping. Information search behavior were factor analyzed resulting five factors, such as mass media information, commercial media information, personal information, store information, past experience information. According to a result of looking into the influences of clothing shopping orientations on information search behaviors, as shopping orientation for pleasure, fashion synchronization orientation, brand store royal orientation & economical orientation go high, the search degree of store information & mass media information, commercial media information & personal information, past experience information and personal information raise up respectively more and more. The results of regression analysis at factors affecting the store choice behaviors are significantly different.

  • Since we use internet every day, the internet privacy has become important. We need to find out what kinds of personal information is exposed to the internet and to eliminate the exposed information. However, it is not efficient to search the personal information using only fragmentary clues in web search engines because the ranking results are not relevant to the exposure degree of personal information. In this paper, we introduced a personal information retrieval system and proposed a process to remove private data from the web easily. We also compared our proposed method with previous methods by evaluating the search performance.

  • This study aims to investigate whether information awareness, search purpose, and search expectations influence information avoidance among university students. The data were collected by using a self-completion questionnaire with convenience sampling of students from one university. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, analysis of variance (ANOVA), Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression using R 4.2.3. The main results are as follows: First, both search purpose and search expectations exhibited a significant inverse correlation with all information avoidance dependent variables. Second, there was a significant difference in the mean of search expectations across majors, such that science majors had higher search expectations than humanities majors. Third, there were significant differences in the means of the information avoidance-system and information avoidance variables by major, such that both variables had lower means for the science than the humanities group. Fourth, among the independent variables, search expectation had a significant effect on information avoidance-personal: the higher the search expectation variable, the lower the information avoidance-personal variable. This study confirmed that information avoidance should not only consider the psychological, emotional, and affective aspects of information seekers, but also that information seekers' information search purpose and search expectations are predictors of information avoidance.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the search pattern and search outcome of the National Central Library OPAC users by measuring their success rates and identifying the factors of failure and the personal background which bring about the differences of the search outcome. Various methods have been used for the study. Personal interview was used to find the pattern of the search, observation method was used to investigate the search process and the failure factors, and a questionnaire was used to survey personal background of searchers. The data were collected during the period of 7 days from April 17, 1995 through April 23, 1995. The search of 1, 217 cases, sampling systematically 25% out of the whole users, were collected and analyzed for the study. The findings of the study can be summarized as follows : First, in regard to the pattern, known-item search(72.6%) was preferred to the subject search(27.4%) and in case of known-item search the access point used were in the order of title, author, title and author. Second, the overall success rate of known-item search was 50.3% and the success rates were in order of author and date, title, and author. The failure factors of known-item search were divided into users factor of 67% and the database factor of 33%, respectively. Third, in case of subject search, its overall success rate was 44.1% and the keyword was the major access point, and the average of precision ratio was very low. Fourth, the analysis of the personal background related to the search outcome has shown significant differences by sex, the experience of using OPAC, education level, and the frequency of using other information retrieval systems. Based on the results the following suggestions can be made to improve the search outcome : First, the system should be su n.0, pplemented online help function to assist users to overcome the failure during search. Second, user instruction in group or individual should be implemented for the users to understand the system.

  • ARecent advances of network technologies and internet infrastructures construct a fast and useful information-oriented society. However, these nay infringe on privacy and expose sensitive information such as user id, secret number and credit card number. Therefore, we need countermeasures for solving these problems. In this paper we try to hack personal information using Google and domestic search engines, Naver and Empas. After analyze the result, we suggest solutions to prevent personal information hacking based on these search engines.
