"Performance-based design (PBD)" is based on designing a structure with choosing a performance target under design criteria to increase the structure's resistance against earthquake effect. The plastic hinge formation is determined as one of the fundamental data in finite elements nonlinear analysis to distinguish the condition of the structure where more significant potential damage could occur. If the number of plastic hinges in the structure is increased, the total horizontal load capability of the structure is increased, also. Theoretically, when the number of plastic hinges of the plane frame structure reaches "the degree of hyperstaticity plus one", the structure will reach the capability of the largest ultimate horizontal load. As the number of plastic hinges to be formed in the structure increases towards the theoretical plastic hinge number (TPHN), the total horizontal load capability of the structure increases, proportionally. In the previous studies of the authors, the features of examining the new performance criteria were revealed and it was formulated as follows "Increase the total number of plastic hinges to be formed in the structure to the number of theoretical plastic hinges as much as possible and keep the structure below its targeted performance with related codes". With this new performance criterion, it has been shown that the total lateral load capability of the building is higher than the total lateral load capability obtained with the traditional PBD method by the FEMA 440 and FEMA 356 design guides. In this study, PBD analysis results of structures with frame carrier systems are presented in the light of the Turkey Building Earthquake Code 2019. As a result of this study, it has been shown that the load capability of the structure in the examples of structures with frame carrier system increases by using this new performance criterion presented, compared to the results of the examination with the traditional PBD method in TBEC 2019.

This study is about the impact of a technology-based start-ups' patent-related activities on early stage company performance. Technology-based start-ups are closely related to the intellectual property rights, particularly patents that they aim the pursuit of new products or production methods and pioneer the introduction of market based on innovative technology, and that is a key role in such companies established and operating, hence the research of patent-related activities in technology-based start-ups has important implications. In most previous studies, the impact of the company's patent related activities on the performance of corporate management is determined by using quantitative patent indicators. Therefore, through this study, causal relationships leading to business performance through the development of new products, which includes technology performance and product performance, and the patent-related activities including the company's patented technology support activities, creating the right activities, infringement response activities, base activities validated as follows. First, the patent-related activities have a positive impact on technological and products achievements. In other words, the various activities involved in the acquisition and utilization of the patent have a positive impact on the performance of company's new product development, particularly developing new technologies or patent acquisition rate. Second, the technology have a positive impact on the performance of the products, not on the business performance. However, the empirical results shows that it has indirectly impacts on business performance through the product performance. Third, product performance have a positive impact on business performance. In conclusion, patent-related activities affects the performance of the company's management, and the maintenance of the company's business performance depends on the developing and selling product based on the customers needs, besides the technology performance such as the patents and the development of technology.

Chile is characterized by the largest seismicity in the world which produces strong earthquakes every $83{\pm}9years$ in the Central part of Chile, where it is located Santiago, the capital of Chile. The short interval between large earthquakes magnitude 8.5 has conditioned the Chilean seismic design practice to achieve almost operational performance level, despite the fact that the Chilean Code declares a scope of life safe performance level. Several Indexes have been widely used throughout the years in Chile to evaluate the structural characteristics of concrete buildings, with the intent to find a correlation between general structural conception and successful seismic performance. The Indexes presented are related only to global response of buildings under earthquake loads and not to the behavior or design of individual elements. A correlation between displacement demand and seismic structural damage is presented, using the index $H_o/T$ and the concrete compressive strain ${\varepsilon}_c$. Also the Chilean seismic design codes pre and post 2010 Maule earthquake are reviewed and the practice in seismic design vs Performance Based Design is presented. Performance Based Design procedures are not included in the Chilean seismic design code for buildings, nevertheless the earthquake experience has shown that the response of the Chilean buildings has been close to operational. This can be attributed to the fact that the drift of most engineered buildings designed in accordance with the Chilean practice falls below 0.5%. It is also known by experience that for frequent and even occasional earthquakes, buildings responded elastically and thus with "fully operational" performance. Taking the above into account, it can be said that, although the "basic objective" of the Chilean code is similar to the SEAOC VISION2000 criteria, the actual performance for normal buildings is closer to the "Essential/Hazardous objective".

The purpose of this study is to analyze middle school teachers' concern about and implementation degree of performance assessment in China. The research questions are as follows: First, what kind of concern is held by middle school teachers who implement performance assessment? Second, is there any significant difference in stages of concern the teachers on performance assessment according to their gender, education level and teaching career? Third, which level of use is shown by middle school teachers who implement performance assessment? Fourth, what is the correlation between middle school teachers' Stages of Concern and Levels of Use on performance assessment? This study was conducted based on a Concerns-Based Adoption Model (Hall, 1973; CBAM) that viewed teachers as the most primary factor of the execution of innovation, in this case, performance assessment. Performance assessment is assessment based on observation and judgement (Stiggins, 1994), and require test takers to complete a process or produce a product in a context that closely resembles real-life situations. The subjects of this study were randomly sampled from 120 middle school teachers throughout Bei-Jing, China. The questionnaires were distributed to them by mail, and they were asked to return their questionnaire by mail. The collect data were analyzed by SPSS/WIN 18.0 program in terms of frequency, correlation, or MANOVA. Frequency analysis was used to analyze concern of middle school teachers on performance assessment. To gain an frequency of the individuals in each stage, we regarded the stage in which a teacher had his/her highest score as his/her relevant stage. Correlation analysis was adopted to identify the correlation between teachers' stage of concern and level of use. To analyze the difference of the concern of China middle school teachers on performance assessment according to their individual background variables such as gender, education level, and teaching career, MANOVA was performed.

The network-wide performance management is crucial for maintaining the quality of network services, which requires the collection and monitoring the performance data at individual network nodes. Most of the public networks, however, are composed of diverse, heterogeneous network nodes that are managed by various types of proprietary management systems with a conventional operator console and embedded management functions, which makes it difficult to implement the integrated performance management systems. Even though the developments of TMN (Telecommunication Management Network) based management systems are being attempted, the little work has been done in performance management area. In this paper, we propose the performance monitoring architecture for ATM switches using the 0₃ object model and describe how to implement the TMN-based performance prosy agent for ATM switching systems. The proposed performance proxy agent provides the TMN standard performance management interfaces by translating the proprietary performance management functions, which eventually leads to network-wide integrated performance management.
This study is an attempt to explore the nature and characteristics of strategic impact of green strategy by environmental capital, corporate reputation, and technology strengths on the firm's performance across countries. The main question addressed in this paper relates to how corporate sustainability, corporate reputation, technology strength, and capabilities influence the firm's economic performance with respect to diverse dimensions of performance measures including sustained growth through the leading firms across countries in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia-Pacific countries. Particularly, this study attempts to empirically explore the directions and magnitudes of the operational links between new emerging strategic core competencies (e.g., sustainability green strategy by environmental focus for more sustainable path, corporate reputation by corporate social responsibility and image enhancement, and technology strengths to develop a new product and market) and the firm's economic performance with respect to diverse dimensions of performance such as accounting (ROE and EOA) - and market-based performance (Market value and Tobin's q). Considering all possible limitations that might exist with regard to selected samples and methods, this study demonstrates that environmental sustainability, corporate reputation, technological capabilities and competencies through R&D intensity and patent are most likely to be significantly associated with most market-based performance measures, but the strategic significance of other variables such as capital intensity, leverage, and administrative cost efficiency on performance tends to be different depending on which performance measure is used across different countries with diverse economic and business contexts.
This study is an empirical study on the relationships among success factors of six sigma(support of top management, education and training, performance-based reward, customer and quality focused thought), job satisfaction, and quality performance. In particular, mediating effect of job satisfaction on the relationship between success factors of six sigma and quality performance is empirically analysed to find causes and impacts among these variables. A survey was conducted on the employees working in 'H' company which is applying six sigma at Ulsan City. The survey questionnaires were sent to 300 people and 216 of them were returned. Data obtained was analyzed with SPSS 18.0. The study results are as follows: First, there were positive relationships between critical success factors of six sigma(except support of top management) and job satisfaction. Second, there was also a positive relationship between job satisfaction and quality performance. Third, there were also positive relationships between critical success factors of six sigma(except support of top management) and quality performance. Finally, job satisfaction were full mediating effects on the relationship between critical success factors of six sigma(education and training, performance-based reward) and quality performance. Critical success factors of six sigma(customer and quality focused thought) had a partial mediating effect on quality performance. On the other hand, support of top management had no mediating effect on quality performance.
This study focuses on the application of multi-criteria performance measures based on the concept of equifinality to the calibration of the rainfall-runoff model TOPMODEL in a small deciduous forest catchment. The performance of each parameter set was evaluated by six performance measures, individually, and each set was identified as a behavioral or non-behavioral parameter set by a given behavioral acceptance threshold. Many behavioral parameter sets were scattered throughout the parameter space, and the range of model behavior and the sensitivity for each parameter varied considerably between the different performance measures. Sensitivity was very high in some parameters, and varied depending on the kind of performance measure as well. Compatibilities of behavioral parameter sets between different performance measures also varied, and very few parameter sets were selected to be used in making god predictions for all performance measures. Since different behavioral parameter sets with different likelihood weights were obtained for each performance measure, the decision on which performance measure to be used may be very important to achieve the goal of study. Therefore, one or more suitable performance measures should be selected depending on the environment and the goal of a study, and this may lead to decrease model uncertainty.

Demand for performance analysis is increasing for efficient use of limited budgets such as improving investment efficiency and strategic budget allocation in accordance with the continuous increase demand of R&D budget for developing advanced weapon systems in the future battlefields. In accordance with the Act on the Performance Evaluation and Performance Management of the National R&D Projects established in March 2006, the performance analysis has been conducted for the systematic management and utilization of the R&D project performance. It was recognized as a project to achieve self-defense through strengthening the weapons system development capability, however, efficiency evaluation of Defense R&D projects was not much emphasized. Research on the efficiency analysis of defense R&D projects has been conducted in recent years, but most studies focused on corporate efficiency and productivity of defense companies. In this study, we analyzed the three-stage performance of defence R&D projects based on the logical model using the data envelope analysis(DEA) model. We also analyzed performance analysis from various perspectives through R&D type, technology classification and performance model. This study is expected to help defense department improve defense R&D projects and make decision.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of characteristics of nurses on knowledge and nursing performance of evidence based hemodialysis nursing practice among hemodialysis unit nurses. Methods: The participants were 180 nurses working in hemodialysis unit for more than 6 months in 23 private and general hospitals in Seoul and Gyeonggido. Data were collected from March 30th to April 15t in 2016 and were analyzed using stepwise regression analysis, descriptive statistics, t-test and ANOVA. Results: Nurses' knowledge on evidence based hemodialysis nursing practice was $15.87{\pm}4.52$ out of 23 points. Type of hospitals working in and adherence to evidence based hemodialysis guidelines were significant factors to knowledge and these two factors explained 30.0%. Nurses' nursing performance on evidence-based hemodialysis nursing practice was 4.52 out of 5 points. The performace level was significantly related to total nurisng career and necessity of hemodialysis nursing education and these two factors explained 8.0%. Conclusion: A development of guideline and continuing education is necessary for improving knowledge and performance of evidence based hemodialysis nursing practice.
