  • In this study, a high-pressure subsacle thrust chamber was developed to verify the core technology for KSLV-II performance enhancement. The core technologies are the design of an injector for high-pressure combustion, development of a combustion stabilization device using the additive manufacturing technique, and the design and fabrication of mixing head and regeneratively cooled combustion chamber. The core technologies, which have been verified through the development of high-pressure subscale thrust chamber, will be used to develop large engine liquid rocket engine thrust chamber in the future.

  • This study analyzed the effect of female insurance planners' personal traits on job performance in Dangjin, Chungnam. The study results showed that job importance recognition(p<.05, ${\beta}=.321$) significantly affected job satisfaction, so highly recognizing the importance and social reputation improved job satisfaction. Personal traits didn't significantly affected contract performace and workplace satisfaction, but job performance varied by continuos service year. This study provided implications by finding out the degree of importance of personal traits on job performance improvement and verifying the effect of personal factors on performace enhancement of female insurance planners.

  • In order to improve the overall power conversion efficiency, it is very important to reduce the interface resistance of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). In this approach, tiny $TiO_2$ nanoparticles with the primary size of 10~20nm were synthesized and deposited between FTO glass and preformed $TiO_2$ layer by $TiOCl_2$ treatment, and also Pt catalysts were deposited on the counter electrode by both ion-sputter and thermal deposition to reduce the electrolyte-counter electrode interface resistance. The influence of these processes on the performace of DSSCs were discussed in terms of fill factor, short circuit current, and conversion efficiency.

  • Engineering applications of global optimization techniques are recently abundant in the literature and it may be caused by both new methodologies arising and faster computers coming out. Many of the optimization techniques are based on natural or biological phenomena. This study put focus on enhancing the performace of Cuckoo Search (CS) among them since it has the least number of parameters to tune. The proposed enhancement can be achieved by applying surrogate-based optimization at every cycle of CS, which fortifies the exploitation capability of the original method. The enhanced algorithm has been applied several engineering design problems with constraints. The proposed method shows comparable or superior performance to the original method.

  • This paper describes implementation and performance evaluation of XTP(Xpress Transport Protocol) onthe Windows NT for multicasting in high-speed communication networks. We designed the protocol byan event-driven method and implemented it in form of network driver in a kernel for performace enhancement. Various applications program are used for its functional test and comparison with the TCP protocol.

  • Acetate and lactate in growth media are detrimental to the production of Thermus maltogenic amylase (ThMA), a heterologous protein, as well as to the growth of recombinant Escherichia coli. Only 50 mM of acetate or 10 mM of lactate reduced 90% of specific ThMA activity. In this study, mutant E. coli strains blocked in the ackA-pta or ackA-pta and ldh pathways were created, characterized, and assessed for their culture performace in 300 L-scale fermentation. The ackApta and ldh double-mutant strain formed significantly less lactate and acetate, and produced a concomitant increase in the excretion of pyruvate (17.8 mM) under anaerobic conditions. The ackA-pta mutant strain accumulated significant acetate but had an approximately 2-fold increase in the formation of lactate. The ackA-pta and ldh double-mutant strain had superior overall performance in large-scale culture under suboptimal conditions, giving 67% higher cell density and 66% higher ThMA activity compared with those of the control strain. The doublemutant strain also achieved a 179% improvement in volumetric ThMA production.
