The sample group(two elementary schools in A city)consisted of 105students mother with normal vision(naked vision 1.0 or more), 105 students mother with subnormal vision(0.7 or less). The data was analyzed using S.A.S. For the test of homogeneity and significance of variable, Fisher's Exact test and Student's t-test were used. Results: 1. There was significant difference in perception of being changed the children's eyesight between normal and myopia group(t=7.86, p=.0492). 2. High scores of cause of myopia were distance from TV or computer to viewer and time of watching TV or using computer in both groups. 3. There was significant difference in perception score of cause of myopia in the myopia group was 13.26, and 18.04 in the normal group(t=3.01, p=0.003). Especially in the unbalanced and regulated diet, regulated exercise, distance of eyes reading books and illumination, normal group had more perception score than myopia group. • The objectives of this study were, 1) to investigate the perception and preference for Japanese chain restaurants due to demographics and consumption behaviors, and 2) to research improvements for Japanese chain restaurants according to the customers' dissatisfaction. Frequency analysis and one-way ANOVA were used to analyze the data. Three hundred questionnaires were distributed and 254 were returned(84.66%). The customers' perception and preference about Japanese chain restaurants were significantly related with each other. The differences of perception and preference due to demographics and consumption behaviors were significant. The most dissatisfied selection attributes were price, number of Korean dishes, number of branch offices, and advertisements, in order. From examining the progressive circmnstances of Korean food-service industry and the social trends toward a preference for healthy, special ethnic food and dishes for diet control and high protein-low fat, it is apparent that food-service businesses related to Japanese food have the potential for success. The results of this study should provide valuable information for administrators and managers in the hospitality industry.

  • Gustation, initiated by the detection of taste molecules by specific receptors expressed in taste cells, plays an essential role in food selection and consequently in overall nutrition for humans. In the past decade, a remarkable amount of knowledge of taste perception in the neurology, molecular biology, and genetics has emerged, particularly in basic tastes- sweet, bitter, sour, salt and umami. Among them, sweet, bitter and umami are recognized via the specific G-protein coupled receptors. Salt and sour are primarily mediated by apically located ion channel-type receptors. Because excessive salt or sugar consumption leads to high rates of diet-associated diseases and it comes from eating prepared or processed foods, an understanding of the underlying mechanisms in salt and sweet perception is crucial in food industry. This review will focus on recent progress of the perception of salt and sweet taste to provide basic knowledge for reducing salt and sugar consumption.

  • Purpose: To compare differences in BMI, body weight perception and satisfaction, and eating behavior by gender among middle school students. Methods: From 19 middle schools in W city four classes in two middle schools were selected by cluster sampling with multi-stage sampling. A structured questionnaire was answered by 143 adolescents. Results: Differences in BMI between boys and girls were significant (x$^2$=13.15, p=.00l). Boys reported higher ideal body weight than girls (t=6.33, p<.000l), and discrepancy between ideal body weight and body weight perception in girls was significantly greater than in boys(t=-5.0l, p<.0001). There was no significant gender difference in body weight perception but more boys were satisfied with their body weight(t=-4.48, p<.0001). Comparison of eating behavior showed that girls reported high scores in disinhibition (t=-2.29, p<.05) and hunger (t=-2.81, p<.01), while boys reported higher scores in cognitive restraints (t=3.22, p<.01). Conclusion: Interventions to help girls improve body image and satisfaction with body image are crucial. In order to establish proper diet habits and balanced nutritional status for adolescents, educational interventions should address characteristics of eating behaviors.

  • The objective of this study was to research the health status of the elderly population and their perception and compliance to cook medicated juk. The results from this research will be used as basic data for medicated juk development. In addition, the purpose of this study was to find a way to popularize the juk and improve their usage as medicated juk in communal feeding and convalescent hospital for elderly. The study surveyed 300 elderly residents of age over 65, in Daejeon. The following data were collected: general characteristic, health status, perception of medicated juk, and preferred kind of juk for cooking. Moreover, the study researched the constraints in cooking the juk. Data were analyzed by SPSS Windows V. 18.0 and t-test verified the differences among the questions, according to frequency analysis of each item and characteristics of the aged. You might want to specify this characteristic. Within the surveyed elderly population, 80.6% had various existing diseases with circulatory diseases being the most prevalent with 68.9%. This emphasizes on the significance of proper diet, but this recognition is not put into practice. The survey also showed that as the individuals age, they tend to care less about the necessity of proper diet. Despite of this lack of perception, 84.5% of the elderly population responded positively to the question, "Would you like to have medicated juk for curing diseases, if such juk is available?" In addition, the elderly population was in favor of developing the juk that helps to prevent and cure diseases, and many were willing to cook them. The reasons behind their will to cook are arranged in the following order: higher efficacy in curing disease than regular juk, excellence in nutrition, and unavailability of the medicated juk in the stores that requires them to cook. The sources constraining the elderly population in cooking are arranged in the following order: not knowing how to cook the juk, lack of physical strength, financial burden, and lack of information order. Please clarify this part. Suggested change: not knowing what medicated juk is. Furthermore, the main obstacle in cooking the juk is lack of cooking technique, followed by inaccessibility to the ingredients and the financial burden to purchase the ingredients.

The data were collected from 713 subjects in various age ranges. The housewives ate mushrooms because of their healthfulness. Frequency of eating mushroom was related to preference of mushrooms. Frequency of eating mushroom was also influenced by intake of balanced diet, healthfulness of current diet, and application of nutritional knowledge. Mushroom dishes were considered nutritious (72.4%), easy to purchase (55.7%), easy to cook (63.7%) and expensive (36.3%). Mushroom was also considered superior to other vegetable in nutrition and taste but evaluated inferior to other vegetable in aspects of high price and limitation of variety. Intake of balanced diet, healthfulness of current diet and application of nutritional knowledge were influenced by the level of nutritional knowledge. Korean housewives liked mushroom but they didn't recognized the value of mushroom as a source of Vitamin D well. Introducing various cooking methods and nutritional informations are suggested to use mushroom diversely.

Most of the subjects were found to have little confidence with their health. With regard to their level of Yangseng, higher points were rated in morality yangseng, followed by activities & rest, diet, mind yangseng, sleep, seasonal yangseng, exercise and sex life in order. 3. By socio-demographic characters for the group with confidence in health, there were more male than female, with spouse, disease and leisure activities currently. In the group without confidence in health, there were more female, without spouse and leisure activity but with disease presently. 4. As for the level of Yangseng in the group with confidence in health, higher points were recorded in morality yangseng, followed by activities & rest, mind yangseng, diet, sleep, exercise and sex life in order. In case of the group without confidence in health, higher points were recorded in morality yangseng, followed by activities & rest, diet, mind yangseng, sleep, exercise and sex life in order. From the above outcomes, it would be necessary to motivate the subjects to have a renewed concept for health and efficient regimen. Continued and repeated eforts should be made to fill the gap in the study using the tool to measure Yangseng of the elderly people.
