  • The purpose of this paper is the development of portable body fat meter. Bioelectrical impedance method for measuring human body composition is based upon the principle that the electrical conductivity of the fat mass is far greater than that of the fat. Finally measurement of percent body fat was made possible using a developed impedance measuring device which measure impedance between the thumb and ring finger.

여대생의 식생활 양상 및 운동여부와 체성분 구성의 관계 (A Study of Body Composition, Dietary Behavior, and Exercise among Students at Women's Colleges)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine BMI, body fat mass, percent body fat, waist-hip ratio, soft lean mass, skeletal muscle mass, and fat free mass, and to determine the association between dietary behavior and exercise and body composition among students at women's colleges, and decide on the relationships among them. Method: This study employed a cross-sectional study design and a convenient sampling method. Ultimately, a total of 404 students participated in the study, which was conducted from September 1 to December 22, 2009. Measurements administered were comprised of dietary behavior and a questionnaire on exercise. The SPSS Win 18.0 statistics program was used for analysis of final data. Results: Major findings are as follows: 9.9% of participants showed a high BMI, and more than 56% and 38% of participants showed a high percent body fat and waist-hip ratio, respectively. Dietary behavior showed a significant negative association with percent body fat (r=-0.110, p=0.027) and waist-hip ratio (r=-0.118, p=0.018). Compared with the non-regular exercise group, the regular exercise group showed a high level of soft, lean mass (t=4.15, p<0.001), skeletal muscle mass (t=3.13, p=0.002), and fat free mass (t=4.00, p<0.001). Conclusion: For maintenance of proper body composition, health promotion programs for management of dietary behavior and regular exercise for students at women's colleges should be developed.

식생활 실천 지침에 따른 남자 대학생의 체성분 분석 (Body Composition of Male College Students by Standard Guideline for Korean Dietary)

  • To study the correlation with increasing body fat mass for the Standard Guideline for Korean Dietary Life, a nationwide, cross-sectional survey was performed with 178 male college students in december 2005. Among the student subjects, 76 were analyzed for body protein mass, body mineral mass, body fat mass, percent body fat, waist-hip ratio(WHR), body mass index(BMI) and obesity degree using Inbody 3.0(Biospace Co, Seoul, Korea). Body protein mass was at a high level of 92.1%, body mineral mass was at a low level of 94.7%. Body fat mass was at a high level of 28.9%, percent body fat was at a high level of 37.3%, WHR was at a high level of 31.6%, and obesity degree was at a high level of 38.2%, BMI was at a high level of 24.3% and BMR was observed at a high level of 41.8%. WHR was correlated with '7. Prepare food proper amount sanitarily.' and obesity degree, while BMl was were correlated with '4. Increase movement and eat proper amount.' positively. BMR was correlated with '6. Enjoy 3 meal a day regularly.' ArmCircle was correlated with '4. Increase movement and eat proper amount.' and fitness score was corrected with '4. Increase movement and eat proper amount', and '8. Enjoy Korean rice food style.' positively. Body protein mass and body mineral mass were negatively correlated with fruit, ArmCircle was positively correlated with fish, obesity degree was positively correlated with soup and BMI and ArmCircle were positively correlated with sweet. '8. Enjoy Korean rice food style.' was negatively significantly correlated with overweight, over percentage body fat, obesity degree > 120 and BMI. Male students were not practicing the Standard Guideline for Korean Dietary Life well with an average score of 37.7%. However, male students who are within the normal range of body composition analysis value have to notice that over range of weight, protein, percentage body fat, WHI and obesity degree was observed above average score of 30%.

대학생에서 혈액 지질 수준과 체지방과의 관련성 (The Association between Total Body Fat and Serum Lipids Concentrations in College Students)

  • 본 연구는 대학생을 대상으로 체지방률과 혈청 지질 수준의 관련성을 알아보고자 시행하였다. 2015년 6월부터 8월까지 W대학에 재학중인 남자 15명 여자 46명을 대상으로 신체계측, 체지방률, 혈액 검사 등을 실시하였다. 체지방률을 InBody 제조사 guideline에 따라 세 그룹으로 나누었는데 1군 남자의 비율은 26.7%, 여자의 비율은 10.9%였다. 세 그룹에서 체중과 체질량지수는 남녀 모두 유의한 차이를 보였으나(p<0.05) 신장은 유의한 차이가 없었다. 남자는 세 그룹에서 총콜레스테롤, 중성지방, 저밀도지단백콜레스테롤, 헤모글로빈이 유의한 차이를 보였고(p<0.05), 여자에서는 총콜레스테롤, 저밀도지단백콜레스테롤, 알라닌전이효소가 유의한 차이를 보였다(p<0.05). 남녀 모두 각 변수들과의 상관관계를 분석한 결과 체지방 비율은 BMI와 높은 상관관계를 가지고 있었고, 체중, 총콜레스테롤, LDL-C와 유의한 상관관계를 보였다(p<0.05). 또한 심혈관계 질환의 위험인자인 총콜레스테롤에 영향을 미치는 변수를 파악하기 위해 총콜레스테롤을 종속변수로 하고 BMI, 체지방률, 헤모글로빈을 독립변수로 하여 다중회귀분석을 실시하였으나 남녀 모두 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 본 연구는 체지방률과 혈청 지질 수준과 유의한 관계가 있음을 보여준다.

서울지역 여고생의 국소지방 침착의 양상과 변증과의 연관성 (The Relationships between Type of Localized Fat and Traditional Diagnostic Method in Korean High-school girls)

  • Background : There are many korean women who have localized fat despite of they have normal or slightly over weight. The relationships of traditional diagnostic method with total body fat and body mass index had been reviewed in other study, but there is no study regarding the relationship of traditional diagnostic method and localized fat. So we designed this study to find out the relationships between localized fat and traditional diagnostic method among Korean high-school girls. Methods : This research was performed in 21 high-school girls with localized fat during April 2007. We measured body mass index, percent of body fat, waist circumference, hip circumference and means of both thigh circumference. Phlegm questionnaire, blood stasis questionnaire, cold-heat questionnaire, Korean eating attitude test-26 and questionnaire of Sasang constitution classification Ⅱ+ have been administered. Results : There were significant correlations between body mass index, percent of body fat and body size. Regardless of body mass index, they had high phlegm and heat pattern. Most of them are classified as Tae-um type person. Conclusions : High-school girls with localized fat had pattern of high phlegm, heat and characteristics of Tae-um person.

식이 섬유소 및 실크 펩타이드 보충이 영양소 섭취상태 , 체적지수 및 복부 비만에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (Study on Consequent Nutrient Intake Status , Body Mass Index , and Fat Distribution after Silk Amino Peptide and Dietary Fiber Supplementation)

  • This study is to investigate consequent nutrient intake status, influence of body mass index(BMI), and fat distribution on the silk amino peptide(SAP) and dietary fiber supplementation. During 2 months of this research (January to March, 2002), 45 women aged 20yr – 30yr (average age 24.6yr) were selected as subjects. Nutrient intake was investigated by questionnaire, 24-hr recall method. Antropometric assessments of the subjects were investigated by SBIA method(Segmental bioimpedance assay, In body 3.0). The results are as follows: mean body weight 57.7kg, mean body height 161.9cm mean BMI 22.0, and mean food habit score was 8.47. Defecation frequency was increased by dietary fiber supplementation. Frequency of pain during defecation was significantly decreased by dietary fiber supplementation (p<0.01). Feeling of residual feces was significantly improved by dietary fiber supplementation(p<0.001). Status of energy and carbohydrate intakes significantly decreased after dietary fiber supplementation(P<0.05). Body fat and WHR(waist hip ratio) significantly decreased after dietary fiber supplementation(P<0.001), and percent body fat was decreased by dietary fiber supplementation, significantly(P<0.05). Above results of this study show that dietary fiber-added routine diet improves defecation condition, and lessens body fat, percent body fat without losing body muscle. Especially, declination of abdominal fat and WHR were notable. That meant decreased risk factor.

공군사관학교 여생도의 신체조성 및 체력에 관한 연구 (An Analysis of Body Composition and Physical Fitness of KAFA Female Cadets)

  • 대한민국 영공을 수호하게 될 공군사관학교 생도들의 체력은 주어진 임무를 완수하기 위하여 무엇보다 중요하다. 따라서 본 연구는 공군사관학교 여생도의 학년별 신체조성과 체력의 특성을 확인하고, 전체 여생도의 체지방률 수준에 따른 체력과의 관계를 검증하는데 그 목적이 있었다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 공군사관학교 전체 여생도 50명(1학년 13명, 2학년 18명, 3학년 9명, 4학년 10명)을 대상으로 신체조성(골격근량, 체지방량, 체질량지수, 체지방률, 복부지방률, 기초대사량)과 체력(근력, 근지구력, 순발력, 민첩성, 유연성, 평형성)을 측정하였다. 자료처리는 학년별 신체조성과 체력의 특성을 파악하고 체지방률 수준에 따른 체력의 차이를 알아보기 위하여 일원변량분석을 하였다. 연구결과 여생도의 학년별 신체조성 중 체지방량, 체지방률에서 1학년이 4학년에 비해 낮았고, 2학년이 3-4학년에 비해 낮은 수치를 보였으며, 체질량지수는 2학년이 3-4학년에 비해 낮은 수치를 보였다. 여생도의 학년별 체력에는 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 체지방률에 따른 집단 간 체력은 순발력에서 20%미만 집단이 20~25%집단, 25.1~30%집단에 비해 높은 수치를 나타냈으며, 평형성은 20%미만인 집단이 25.1~30%집단에 비해 높은 수치를 나타냈다. 본 연구결과 여생도들의 학년별 신체조성에서 차이가 나타났으며, 특히 체지방률에 따라 순발력과 평형성에서 차이를 보였다. 따라서 공군사관학교 여생도는 공중 임무환경과 관련이 있는 순발력과 평형성 능력을 갖추기 위한 체지방의 관리의 필요성이 제기된다.

운동프로그램이 중년비만여성의 체구성, 체력 및 지질대사에 미치는 영향 (Effects of a Exercise Program on Body Composition, Physical Fitness and Lipid Metabolism for Middle-Aged Obese Women)

  • Purpose: This study was to examine the effects of an exercise program for middle-aged obese women. Method: The exercise program combined folk dance and resistance training. The subjects group consisted of 85 middle-aged obese women between 40 and 60 years of age. Three 8 week sessions consisted of a $55-80\%$ maximum heart rate (MHR) exercise for 60-90 minutes a day and 3 times a week from March to November, 2004. Data was collected through a pre- and post-exercise test before and after each session. Data was collected with Inbody, dynamometer and blood. This data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, and a paired t-test with an SPSS/PC(10.0 version) program. Results: There were significant positive changes in body weight, body fat mass, body mass index, percent body fat, muscle strength, muscle endurance, flexibility, and balance quality, but no significant positive changes in skeletal mass, fat free mass, percent abdominal fat(waist-hip ratio), visceral fat area, agility, total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein cholesterol, or triglycerides. Conclusion: This study showed that an exercise program has partially positive effects for middle-aged obese women. The results of this study show that exercise at community health centers should continue for middle-aged obese women's health.
