Posttraumatic growth (PTG) is the experience of positive change that occurs as a result of the struggle with highly challenging life crises. The need to understand PTG in relation to actual changes in an individual's life has recently been raised. Little is known about the role of social support in the experience of positive outcomes. The purpose of this study is to investigate the role of perceived social support in enhancing PTG in cancer patients. This study involved 105 cancer patients. The data were collected using a questionnaire that determined the socio-demographic features, posttraumatic growth inventory (PTGI) and perceived social support. Participants reported relatively high levels of PTG and social support. Total perceived social support, support from family, and friends were significantly positive associated with the development of PTG among cancer patients. Accordingly, the social surroundings of the patient should be informed about the importance of social support and how it helps the patient; they should be made aware of necessity of social support.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine correlates of depression and perceived health status in patients with atrial fibrillation. Methods: The study utilized a descriptive correlational survey design. A convenience sample of 115 subjects were recruited from 3 tertiary medical centers. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, hierarchical multiple regression. Results: 1) Study subjects perceived the low frequency of symptoms, relatively high social support, low depression, moderately low physical health, and mental health. 2) The 38% of variance in depression was significantly explained by symptom(${\beta}$ = .49), social support(${\beta}$ = -.21), and education(${\beta}$ = -.17). 3) The 40% of variance in physical health was significantly explained by symptom(${\beta}$ = -.55), social support(${\beta}$ = .16), and education(${\beta}$ = .20). 4) the 12% of variance in mental health was significantly explained by symptom(${\beta}$ = -.26), and social support(${\beta}$ = .24). Conclusion: Most health care providers assume atrial fibrillation patients have very few symptoms. However, symptom related to atrial fibrillation was found to be the most important factors in explaining depression and perceived health status. Additionally, higher social support had great influences on the lower depression and higher perceived health status. Based on the findings of this study, directions for nursing practice and further nursing research for patients with atrial fibrillation are suggested.

The result of this study may be summerized as follows. 1) The degrees of the support from situation perceived by pregnant women were: the minimal 20 feints, the maximal 61 points and the mean 40.42 feints. 2) The degrees of stress perceived by pregnant women were: the minimal 32 points, the maximal 109 points and the mean 65.49 points. 3) The results of hypotheses were: the first hypothesis was not supported that the higher the degree of social support from situation perceived by pregnant women, the lower that of stress(r= -0.01129, p=0.8895) the second was supported that the higher the degree if support perceived indirectly by pregnant women, the lower that of stress(r= -0.23832, p=0.0029). the third was supported that the higher the degree of support perceived directly by pregnant women, the lower that of stress. (r= -0.36019, p=0.0001) 4) The fourth shows that in the relationships between the characteristics of socio-popualtion and obstetrics and the degree of social support, there was significant difference; i) the support from situation differs in learning (t= -2.178, p<.05), and satisfaction of marriage (F=5.06, p<.01) ii) the support perceived indirectly differs in learning (t= -3.065, p<.01), month of pregnant(F= 2.78, p <.05), satisfaction of marriage (F=20.08, p<.001) and forms of family (t=2.11, p<.05) iii) the support perceived directly differs in satisfaction of marriage (F=21.00, p <.001) and forms of family (t=2.11, p<.05) 5) the fifth shows that in the relationship between the characteristics of sociopopulation and obstetrics and stress, the degree of satisfaction of marriage only shows the significant statistical difference(F= 0.40, p<.01) 6) The sixth shows that the factor affecting the stress of pregnant women was the support perceived directly and its explanatory power was 12.9%.
Purpose - A lot of preceeding studies have focused on the pains that might be felt in spending money, that is an important role in getting psychological safety. Money and social resources can be all for consumers, and they are likely to form a substituting relationship with one another. Being motivated by the idea that spending money for others can come with joy if one's objective is accomplished by social support, this paper aimed to explore the mediating role of the perceived money importance and gratitude in the relationship between social support and pleasure in spending for other-gift. Research Design, Data, and Methodology - In this empirical study, the experimental group is expected to receive social support while the control group is composed of those who are usually indulged in reminiscences of their sweethearts. From the college students, 160 experiment participants were selected and 80 participants of them were assigned to control group as well as to experimental group respectively at random. Empirical study for each of the two groups was performed respectively by means of questionnaire survey. Experimental group data and control group data were combined together to be used for testing hypotheses. Linear structural equation model in Amos was used to verify the hypotheses, and Bootstrap was also used to examine whether there were the mediating roles of the perceived money importance and gratitude or not. Results - From the empirical study, following conclusions could be drawn: First, social support of others makes one perceive the importance of money less; Second, social support of others makes one perceive gratitude to others; Third, less perceived importance of money and gratitude to others can make one feel pleasure in spending for other-gift; and Fourth, less perceived importance of money and gratitude to others can partially mediate the effect of social support from others on the pleasure in spending for other-gift. Conclusions - The outcomes of this study might offer theoretic and managerial implications as follow: Even though many hitherto studies have asserted that spending money usually comes with pains, this study discovered that social support might reduce perceived the importance of money but make others feel gratitude and, thus, one would feel joy in spending money to buy gift for others, and made a contribution to the progress of the theory of pleasure in spending for other-gift. This paper also made contributions toward the development of emotion marketing theory by showing that the effect of social support on the pleasure in spending for other-gift could be partially mediated by the perceived the importance of money and gratitude to others. Based on the above conclusions, it may be affirmed that marketers should help consumers perceive the importance of money less, and help feel gratitude to others by pointing up the support of others to consumers in an attempt to accelerate spending for other-gift.

For parental variables, parental support and achievement pressure and marital conflict were examined. The sample consisted of 561 fifth and sixth grade children. Statistics and methods used for the data analysis were Cronbach's alpha, Factor analysis, frequency, percentage, Pearson's correlation, and Hierarchical Regression. Several major results were found from the analysis. First, girl's achievement motivation was higher than boys. No age difference was found between fifth and sixth grade. Second, boy's and girl's achievement motivation had a positive correlation with perceived competence, intrinsic locus of control, parental support and achievement pressure but a negative correlation with parental marital conflict. Third, important variables predicting boy's and girl's achievement motivation were perceived academic competence, parental achievement pressure and perceived social competence. Important variables predicting boy's individual and social oriented achievement motivation were perceived academic competence and parental achievement pressure.
