Pedestrian-based camera self-calibration methods are suitable for video surveillance systems since they do not require complex calibration devices or procedures. However, using arbitrary pedestrians as calibration targets may result in poor calibration accuracy due to the unknown height of each pedestrian. To solve this problem in the real surveillance environments, this paper proposes a novel Bayesian approach. By assuming known statistics on the height of pedestrians, we construct a probabilistic model that takes into account uncertainties in both the foot/head locations and the pedestrian heights, using foot-head homology. Since solving the model directly is infeasible, we use variational Bayesian inference, an approximate inference algorithm. Accordingly, this makes it possible to estimate the height of pedestrians and to obtain accurate camera parameters simultaneously. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is robust to noise and provides accurate confidence in the calibration.
In this paper, we implemented a convolution neural network using GP-GPU. After defining the structure, CNN performed inferencing using the GP-GPU with 256 threads, which was the previous study, using the weight obtained from the training. Training used Intel i7-4470 CPU and Matlab. Dataset used Daimler Pedestrian Dataset. The GP-GPU is controlled by the PC using PCIe and operates as an FPGA. We assigned a thread according to the depth and size of each layer. In the case of the pooling layer, we used over warpping pooling to perform additional operations on the horizontal and vertical regions. One inferencing takes about 12 ms.

In this paper, we propose the fusion design methodology of both pedestrian detection and object tracking system realized with the aid of HOG-PCA based RBFNN pattern classifier. The proposed system includes detection and tracking parts. In the detection part, HOG features are extracted from input images for pedestrian detection. Dimension reduction is also dealt with in order to improve detection performance as well as processing speed by using PCA which is known as a typical dimension reduction method. The reduced features can be used as the input of the FCM-based RBFNNs pattern classifier to carry out the pedestrian detection. FCM-based RBFNNs pattern classifier consists of condition, conclusion, and inference parts. FCM clustering algorithm is used as the activation function of hidden layer. In the conclusion part of network, polynomial functions such as constant, linear, quadratic and modified quadratic are regarded as connection weights and their coefficients of polynomial function are estimated by LSE-based learning. In the tracking part, object tracking algorithms such as mean shift(MS) and cam shift(CS) leads to trace one of the pedestrian candidates nominated in the detection part. Finally, INRIA person database is used in order to evaluate the performance of the pedestrian detection of the proposed system while MIT pedestrian video as well as indoor and outdoor videos obtained from IC&CI laboratory in Suwon University are exploited to evaluate the performance of tracking.
Recently, human attribute recognition (HAR) attracts a lot of attention due to its wide application in video surveillance systems. Recent deep-learning-based solutions for HAR require time-consuming training processes. In this paper, we propose a post-processing technique that utilizes the historical video frames to improve prediction results without invoking re-training or modifying existing deep-learning-based classifiers. Experiment results on a large-scale benchmark dataset show the effectiveness of our proposed method.

The correlation between regional Walkability Index and their physical socio-economic characteristics has evaluated by the spatial statistical analysis to understand the urban pedestrian environments, where has been emerging the significance, recently. Following to the study, the Walkability Indexes were calculated quantitatively from two administrative districts of Busan and measured Global Local spatial autocorrelation indices. Additionally, the Geographically Weighted Regression model was applied to define the correlation between Walkability Indexes and urban environmental variables. The spatial autocorrelation values and clusters on the Walkability Indexes were derived in statistically significant level. Furthermore, the Geographically Weighted Regression model has been derived more improved inference than the OLS regression model, so as the influence of local level pedestrian environment was identified. The results of this study suggest that the spatial statistical approach can be effective on quantitative assessing the pedestrian environment and navigating their associated factors.

There are two destinations to aware the risk of common life. Recognition of the condition of pedestrian's own and the environmental factor awareness both are beneficial for risk awareness. It is good way of advancing the crime prevention effectivity that including IoT technology at the crime prevention research. The purpose of this research is that advanced way of crime prevention with multi-sensor data fusion of the condition of pedestrian and environmental factors. The 3-axis acceleration sensor is available to recognize the gait and the illumination sensor also useful to infer the road state. This research suggest a novel way of assess these factors and the result is the degree of danger.

Currently our country has very serious problems of traffic congestion and urban environment due to increasing automobile ownership. Recently, our concern about environmentally sustainable transportation and green transportation is increasing, so the government is pushing ahead the policy of bicycle using activation. So it is needed to develop a model to analyze the service level of bicycle roads more realistically. In this study, a neuro-fuzzy inference model to analyze the service level of bicycle roads was built selecting the width of bicycle roads, the number of conflicts during cycling and pedestrian volume, which have fuzzy characteristics, as input variables. The predictability of the model was evaluated comparing the surveyed and the estimated. The values of the statistics, $R^2$, MAE and MSE were 0.987, 0.142, 0.032. Therefore, It may be judged that the explainability of the model is very high. The service levels of bicyle roads estimated by the model are 1~3 steps lower than KHCM assessments. The reason may be explained that the model estimates the service level considering the width of bicycle roads and the number of conflicts simultaneously besides pedestrian volume.

This paper focuses on the design of an intelligent control system. The used techniques are based on Neuro Fuzzy approaches applied to a magnetorheological damper in order to reduce the vibrations over footbridges; it has been applied to the Science Museum Footbridge of Valladolid, particularly. A model of the footbridge and of the damper has been built using different simulation tools, and a successful comparison with the real footbridge and the real damper has been carried out. This simulated model has allowed the reproduction of the behaviour of the footbridge and damper when a pedestrian walks across the footbridge. Once it is determined that the simulation results are similar to real data, the control system is introduced into the model. In this sense, different strategies based on Neuro Fuzzy systems have been studied. In fact, an ANFIS (Artificial Neuro Fuzzy Inference System) method has also been used, in addition to an alternative Neuro Fuzzy approach. Several trials have been carried out, using both techniques, obtaining satisfactory results after using these techniques.

The critical lag of crosswalk pedestrians is an important parameter in analyzing traffic operation at unsignalized crosswalks, however there is few research in this field in Korea. The purpose of this study is to develop a model to estimate the critical lag. Among the elements which influence the critical lag, the age of pedestrians and the length of crosswalks, which have fuzzy characteristics, and the each lag which is rejected or accepted are collected on crosswalks of which lengths range from 3.5 m to 10.5 m. The values of the critical lag range from 2.56 sec. to 5.56 sec. The age and the length are divided to the 3 fuzzy variables each, and the critical lag of each case is estimated according to Raff's technique, so a total of 9 fuzzy rules are established. Based on the rules, an ANFIS (Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System) model to estimate the critical lag is built. The predictability of the model is evaluated comparing the observed with the estimated critical lags by the model. Statistics of $R^2$, MAE, MSE are 0.96, 0.097, 0.015 respectively. Therefore, the model is evaluated to explain the result well. During this study, it is found that the critical lag increases rapidly over the pedestrian's age of 40 years.
