성숙한 쥐의 대퇴골과 요추의 조성과 골격관련 인자에 대한 난소절제와 칼슘섭취 효과 (Effect of Ovariectomy and Calcium Intake on Femur and Lumbar Compositions and Bone Related Factors in Adult Rats)

  • This study explored the effect of calcium levels and/or ovariectomy on bone composition and its related factors using the female Sprague-Dawley rats which achieved peak bone mass in normal(0.5%) calcium intake during growth period. The rats were randomly divided into six groups and fed 0.1%, 0.5% and 1.5% calcium diets for 8 weeks after ovariectomized and sham operation. The results indicated that body weight gain was higher in ovariectomized groups than sham groups, regardless of dietary calcium levels and food intakes. Serum Ca and P concentrations were normal level regardless of dietary calcium levels and operation. Estrogen concentration was decreased in ovariectomized rat groups. Serum alkaline phosphatase activity and urinary hydroxyproline were increased in ovariectomized groups. When rats were fed normal Ca diet during growing period, weight, length and breaking force of femur were not significantly different in all groups but increased the same level. Generally, lipid contents in lumbar and femur were lower in low calcium groups and this effect was more pronounced in femur. In case of femur, the significant decrease in Ca contents of bone was observed in a relatively short period of feeding low Ca diet, even though it appeared th desirable peak bone mass had achieved through the growing period by supplementing the adequate amount of calcium. The marked decrease of estrogen levels after ovariectomy did not seem to influence greatly bone parameters measured except bone wet weight. Therefore, this study indicated that lower intake of Ca might be more important determinating factor against osteoporosis than postmenopausal state stimulated by ovariectomy in female rats. With normal or high intake of Ca it appears possible to prevent bone loss in postmenopausal period, and this might apply only in case of achieving peak bone mass in the growing with the adequate intake of calcium. 선미트롤어선의 운항 형태에 따른 거동 특성 (Characteristics on the response of the stern trawler according to the state of its operation)

  • The aim of this research was to the experimental data using statistical and spectral analyzing method to get the motion reponses of a stern trawler in operation states such as drifting, sailing and trawling according to the wave height. In drifting, the significant and the maximum valuer of roll in beam sea increased according to the wave height, but those of pitch decreased. The response and the period of peak of roll in beam sea were increased, but those of pitch decreased. In navigation, the significant and maximum values of roll increased remarkably according to the wave height, but those of pitch changed a little. The response of roll was highest in quartering sea, beam sea and then following sea, but those of pitch was highest in bow sea, head sea and then beam sea in the order of all wave heights. The period of peak of roll due to the wave height and the wave direction changed from 3.8 to 9.9 seconds, and those of pitch changed from 3.3 to 10.4 seconds. In trawling, the significant and maximum values of roll increased a little according to the wave height, but those of pitch increased significantly. The response of roll was highest in beam sea, bow sea and then quartering sea, but those of pitch was highest in head sea, following sea, and then beam sea in the order. The period of peak of roll due to the wave height and the direction changed from 6.6 to 10.9 seconds, and those of pitch changed from 6.7 to 11.2 seconds.

  • This study explored pattern of train operation between Seoul Cheonan after the introduction of KTX in 2004. Both number of trains and seat capacity per day have increased but maximum number of trains per specific hour hasn't changed much. Demand for train shows that it concentrated in a specific time, so number of trains during the peak hour should be increased. But, it is difficult due to line capacity, so increasing seat capacity per train might be an option. An increase in seat capacity should be considered the characteristics of each train lines.

A Study on the EDT Characteristics of TM Work Roll and Variation of Strip Surface Roughness

  • This paper investigates the correlation between strip surface roughness and the surface of the work roll. As the actual temper mill(TM) is used, this data will be adopted to another actual temper mill for the application and operation of this experiment. Conclusions are as follows: Electro-discharge texturing(EDT) roll has homogeneous roughness distribution and shape, and also a sinuous peak surface and the life is 2 times longer than that of shot blast texturing(SBT) method. And the higher surface roughness of work roll, the more time is necessary at the EDT method. In the SBT method without the correlation of roughness, but impeller rotation speed with an uncontrollable peak count. The roughness of SBT roll is irregularity compared to that of EDT roll because the work roll roughness is transferred to the strip which was temper rolled, and produces a more desirable image and greater clarity to the color painted steel sheet.

  • LED is a promising new generation of green lighting with the advantages of high efficiency, good optical performance, long lifetime and environmental friendliness. A pulsating current can be used to drive LEDs. However, current with a high peak-to-average ratio is unfavorable for LEDs. A novel control scheme for the ac-dc critical conduction mode (CRM) flyback LED driver is proposed in this paper. By using the input voltage, output voltage and average output current to control the turn-on time of the switch, the peak-to-average ratio of the output current can be reduced. The operation principle is analyzed and an implementation circuit is put forward. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

  • 1일 최대전력 부하 예측 자료는 계통의 경제적 운용과 전력 감시에 필수적이므로 정확한 예측기법이 요구된다. 신경회로망이나 퍼지이론을 한 예측비법의 장점은 정도(精度)가 높고 운용하기가 편리한 점은 있으나 학습시간이 길고, 부하가 급변할 때는 예측오차가 크게 발생한다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 단점을 개선하기 위하여 새로운 예측 기법을 제시하였으며 예측결과에서 타당성이 입증되었다.

  • In the design of an electric power plant, the capacity to meet the peak load demand is one of the important factors to be considered. This peak load usually occurs when the most of the cooling air-conditioning systems are being operated during daytime in summer season. Therefore, it is necessary to construct an additional electric power plant and to develop the new air-conditioning system for relieving the peak load. This paper analysed the performance characteristics of this experimental regenerative ice energy system by means of a bundle of the heat-pipes. And the result of this analysis was applied to the simulation of an air-conditioning system model. Also, an operation program of moisture air was made according to air load and in order to computerize the air-conditioning system a CAD program was developed by the properties of moisture air.

  • The power consumption pattern of high-speed railway has rarely during night time. But, during service time, the power is consumed irregularly related to train operation. Especially certain unusual about 1-2 days of service time interval to indicate the power consumption is rapidly growing phenomenon, which causes the capacity of the power contract is the annual electricity bill to rise rapidly as the cause. Normally, amount of peak power consumption bill rate at railway substation is over 20% of total electrical bill. Therefore, high-speed railway substation is expected to be considerably larger savings by reducing the peak power of the default charge(demand power).

  • In this study, a superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) having two magnetic paths was proposed, and its current limiting characteristics were analyzed. For the SFCL to effectively perform the current limiting operation, it must be designed considering the magnetic saturation of the E-I core. Further, the influence of the magnetic flux on its peak current limiting characteristics was investigated. In addition, the magnetic flux curves of the SFCL obtained from the fault current limiting experiments were analyzed, and the subtractive polarity winding case was observed to not only further reduce the saturation potential of the core but also perform the peak current limiting functions well when compared with the additive polarity winding case.

  • In this paper, we propose a new algorithm for task scheduling consisting of subtask partitioning and subtask priority scheduling steps in order to keep the peak power under the system specification. The subtask partitioning stepis performed to minimize the idle operation time for processors by dividing a task into multiple subtasks using the least square method developed with power consumption pattern of tasks. In the subtask priority scheduling step, a priority is assigned to a subtask based on the power requirement and the power variation of subtask so that the peak power violation can be minimized and the task can be completed within the execution time deadline.
