This study was conducted in Lake Hayq between January and December 2018. The objectives of this study were to determine the growth, condition, sex ratio, fecundity, length at first sexual maturity (L50), and spawning seasons of common carp (Cyprinus carpio). Monthly fish samples of C. carpio were collected using gillnets of stretched mesh sizes of 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, and 13 cm and beach seines of mesh size of 6 cm. Immediately after the fish were captured, total length (TL) and total weight (TW) for each individual were measured in centimeters and grams, respectively, and their relationship was determined using power function. Length at first maturity (L50) was determined for both males and females using the logistic regression model. The spawning season was determined from the frequency of mature gonads and variation of gonadosomatic index (GSI) values of both males and females. Fecundity was analyzed from 67 mature female specimens. The length and weight relationship of C. carpio was TW = 0.015TL2.93 for females and TW = 0.018TL2.87 for males that indicate negative allometric growth in both cases. The mean Fulton condition factor (CF) was 1.23 ± 0.013 for females and 1.21 ± 0.011 for males. The value of CF in both cases was > 1 that shows both sexes are in good condition. Among the total 1055 C. carpio collected from Lake Hayq, 459 (43.5%) were females and 596 (56.5%) were males. The chi-square test showed that there was a significant deviation between male and female numbers from 1:1 ratio (χ2= 22, df = 11, P > 0.05) within sampling months. The length at first sexual maturity (L50) for females and males were 21.5 and 17.5 cm, respectively. Males mature at smaller sizes than females. The spawning season of C. carpio was extended from February to April, and the peak spawning season for both sexes was in April. The average absolute fecundity was 28,100 ± 17,462. C. carpio is currently the commercially important fish while Nile tilapia fishery has declined in Lake Hayq. Therefore, this baseline data on growth, condition, and reproductive biology of common carp will be essential to understand the status of the population of carp and design appropriate management systems for the fish stock of Lake Hayq, Ethiopia, and adjacent countries.
Green-emission intensity of a $Zn_{2-x}Mn_xSiO_4$ phosphor, which is a potential candidate as a green component in PDP device, significantly increases provided that the compound is additionally heat treated at 900$^{\circ}C$ after solid state reaction at 1300$^{\circ}C$. In order to verify origin of such an intensity enhancement after the additional heat treatment in association with the electronic and local structural change at around Mn ions, the Mn K-edge X-ray absorption spectra were recorded. From the analyses of the preedge peak corresponding to $1s{\rightarrow}3d$ bound state transition and XANES spectrum, it is known that most Mn ions are in +2 oxidation state and substitute Zn ion site regardless of the thermal treatment. In addition, EXAFS analyses revealed that Mn ions formed $MnO_4$ tetrahedra with the Mn-O bond length shortened by 0.01${\AA}$ and with reduced Debye-Waller factor in the thermally treated sample.
The variation of magnetic properties with insulating materials(glass frits, talc and polyamide) in compressed powder cores composed of Fe$\sub$73.5/Cu$_1$Nb$_3$Si$\sub$15.5/B$\sub$7/ nanocrystalline alloy powders(size: 250~850 $\mu\textrm{m}$) and 3 wt% insulators has been investigated. Larger permeability was obtained at the frequency lower than 300~400 kHz for the powder cores including ceramic insulators(glass frits and talc) as compared to the cores with polyamide, while at higher frequency than 1 MHz the permeability of the former cores decreased rapidly. Further the cores with ceramic insulators showed larger core loss and smaller peak quality factor attained at lower frequency. On the contrary, the powder cores with polyamide exhibited high stability of permeabilities up to several MHz and superior core-loss and quality-factor properties. Moreover the dc bias property was better in the wide field range for the cores having polyamide. The enhanced magnetic properties of polyamide-added cores were attributed to the more sufficient electrical insulation between magnetic particles, where the higher insulation state was considered to be obtained from the larger volume fraction of polyamide in the powder cores.
The concentration of gaseous mercury (Hg) was measured at hourly intervals along with relevant environmental parameters from two monitoring stations (Hannam and Kwachun) in Seoul metropolitan city during September 1999 to July 2000. Irrespective of the environmental and areal differences in the two locations, the concentrations of observed Hg levels were remarkably compatible each other. The results showed that the mean Hg level in Hannam was measured to be 5.34${\pm}$3.92 ngm$^{-3}$ (N = 2576), while that of Kwachun was 5.25${\pm}$2.53 ngm$^{-3}$ (N = 1992). Using these measurement data, we inspected Hg distribution and behavior at various time scale. When the data were analyzed at 24 hr scale, the distribution patterns for the two areas were distinguished by enrichment in either night(Hannam) or day (Kwachun). The patterns for seasonal distributions were also opposing each other such as the occurrences of peak during winter (Hannam) or summer (Kwachun). In order to analyze the factors affecting Hg distributions between two sites over different time scale, we conducted both correlation and factor analysis on both all data sets and on seasonally divided data groups. Whereas Hg exhibits strong correlations with such parameters as PM (particulate matter), SO$_2$, and NO$_2$, its relationship with meteorological parameters was not significant enough in many cases. The results of factor analysis also indicated that the Hg levels are tightly associated with most pollutants, explaining the largest portions of statistical variance. According to our study, we conclude that patterns of Hg distributions can exhibit variable patterns depending on local source processes which we expect to be diverse among different areas.
Objective: To investigate the effect of intraoperative glucose fluctuation and postoperative interlukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-${\alpha}$ (TNF-${\alpha}$), C-reactive protein (CRP) levels on the short-term prognosis of patients with intracranial supratentorial neoplasms. Materials and Methods: Eighty-six patients undergoing intracranial excision were selected in The Second Hospital of Jilin University. According to the condition of glucose fluctuation, the patients were divided into group A (glucose fluctuation <2.2 mmol/L, n=57) and group B (glucose fluctuation ${\geq}2.2mmol/L$, n=29). Glucose was assessed by drawing 2 mL blood from internal jugular vein in two groups in the following time points, namely fasting blood glucose 1 d before operation ($T_0$), 5 min after anesthesia induction ($T_1$), intraoperative peak glucose ($T_2$), intraoperative lowest glucose ($T_3$), 5 min after closing the skull ($T_4$), immediately after returning to intensive care unit (ICU) ($T_5$) and 2 h after returning to ICU ($T_6$). 1 d before operation and 1, 3 and 6 d after operation, serum IL-6 and TNF-${\alpha}$ levels were detected with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and CRP level with immunoturbidimetry. Additionally, postoperative adverse reactions were monitored. Results: There was no statistical significance between two groups regarding the operation time, anesthesia time, amount of intraoperative bleeding and blood transfusion (P>0.05). The glucose levels in both groups at $T_1{\sim}T_6$ went up conspicuously compared with that at $T_0$ (P<0.01), and those in group B at $T_2$, $T_4$, $T_5$ and $T_6$ were significantly higher than in group A (P<0.01). Serum IL-6, TNF-${\alpha}$ and CRP levels in both groups 1, 3 and 6 d after operation increased markedly compared with 1 d before operation (P<0.01), but the increased range in group A was notably lower than in group B (P<0.05 or P<0.01). Postoperative incidences of hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia and myocardial ischemia in group A were significantly lower than in group B (P<0.05), and respiratory support time obviously shorter than in group B (P<0.01). Conclusions: The glucose fluctuation of patients undergoing intracranial excision is related to postoperative IL-6, TNF-${\alpha}$ and CRP levels and those with small range of glucose fluctuation have better prognosis.
Compton suppression apparatus using the Compton scattering response, by inhibiting part of the spectrum Compton continuum Compton continuum in the area of the peak analysis of the gamma rays that enables a clearer device. In order to find out the geometry structure of high-purity germanium detector(HPGe) -NaI(TI) and to optimize the effect of movement, Monte Carlo simulation was used to grasp the behavioral characteristics of Compton suppression and compare several layout structures. And applied to the cylinder beaker used for the environmental measurement by using the efficiency according to the distance. For the low-energy source such as 81 keV, the Compton continuum is scarcely developed and the suppression effect is also insignificant because the scattering cross-section of the Compton effect is relatively low. In the spectrum for the remaining energy, it can be seen that the Compton continuum part is suppressed in a certain energy range. Compton suppression effect was not significantly different from positional shift. average reduction factor(ARF) value was about 1.08 for 81 keV and about 1.23 for 1332.4keV energy at the highest value. It can be seen that suppression over the Compton continuum region of the energy spectrum is a more appropriate arrangement. Therefore, it can be applied to various environmental sample measurement through optimized structure.
If an active displacement occurs on a wall with finite size, the ground behind the wall forms shapes of 3-dimensional wedges and 3-dimensional active earth pressure are applied on the wall. In the previous studies, shapes of 3-dimensional wedges were measured and the resultant of 3-dimensional active earth pressure has been calculated. In this study, the magnitude and the distribution of 3-dimensional active earth pressure depending on the size of a rectangular wall, which was defined by the aspect ratio (h/w), that is, the ratio between the height and the width of wall, were measured and compared with previous 3-dimensional models. The result shows that, the horizontal displacement (S) of the wall is approx 0.12% of the height of wall (h). The resultant 3-dimensional active earth pressure is similar to that of Karstedt (1982). The distributions of earth pressures on the wall are parabolic shape. The peak earth pressure was measured at the 0.5~0.55 depth from the ground surface. The reduction factor of 3-dimensional active earth pressure against the 2-dimensional earth pressure (${\alpha}$) depending the aspect ratio (h/w) is presented by the diagram.
Studies have been carried out on the fabrication of PPy/GC and PPy/Pt electrode modified with polypyrrole film and determination of Cr(VI) by using 3-electrode system with modified electrodes. Modified electrodes were able to easily fabricated by cyclic voltammetry scanned from +1.0V to -1.0V(vs. Ag/AgCl) at 50 mV/sec. Film thickness could be controlled at same condition by the number of cycling up to 26 times. Reduction behaviour of Cr(VI) at PPy/GC electrode could be seen at wide potential ranges from +0.6V to -0.5V(vs. Ag/AgCl), and maximum reduction peak potential of the ion was observed at -0.25V(vs.Ag/AgCl). Calibration graph at its potential was linear from 0.1 ppm to 80.O ppm. Slope factor and relative coefficient were 1.75 mA/ppm and 0.998, respectively. Reduction behaviour of Cr(VI) at PPy/Pt electrode was similar to PPy/GC electrode, Calibration graph was linear from l.0 ppm to 60.0 ppm. Slope factor and relative coefficient were 0.5mA/ppm and 0.923, respectively. But PPy/GC modified electrode had about 3 times higher sensitivity than PPy/Pt modified electrode. Reduction behaviour of Cu(II), As(IlI), Pb(II), and Cd(II) couldn't be seen at PPy/GC electrode,Its metals had not lnterfered with Cr (VI) determination.

In this paper, experimental investigations on high strength steel (HSS) stud connected steel-concrete composite (SCC) girders to understand the effect of shear connector density on their flexural behaviour is presented. SCC girder specimens were designed for three different shear capacities (100%, 85%, and 70%), by varying the number of stud connectors in the shear span. Three SCC girder specimens were tested under monotonic/quasi-static loading, while three similar girder specimens were subjected to non-reversal cyclic loading under simply supported end conditions. Details of casting the specimens, experimental set-up, and method of testing, instrumentation for the measurement of deflection, interface-slip and strain are discussed. It is found that SCC girder specimen designed for full shear capacity exhibits interface slip for loads beyond 25% of the ultimate load capacity. Specimens with lesser degree of shear connection show lower values of load at initiation of slip. Very good ductility is exhibited by all the HSS stud connected SCC girder specimens. It is observed that the ultimate moment of resistance as well as ductility gets reduced for HSS stud connected SCC girder with reduction in stud shear connector density. Efficiency factor indicating the effectiveness of high strength stud connectors in resisting interface forces is estimated to be 0.8 from the analysis. Failure mode is primarily flexure with fracturing of stud connectors and characterised by flexural cracking and crushing of concrete at top in the pure bending region. Local buckling in the top flange of steel beam was also observed at the loads near to failure, which is influenced by spacing of studs and top flange thickness of rolled steel section. One of the recommendations is that the ultimate load capacity can be limited to 1.5 times the plastic moment capacity of the section such that the post peak load reduction is kept within limits. Load-deflection behaviour for monotonic tests compared well with the envelope of load-deflection curves for cyclic tests. It is concluded from the experimental investigations that use of HSS studs will reduce their numbers for given loading, which is advantageous in case of long spans. Buckling of top flange of rolled section is observed at failure stage. Provision of lips in the top flange is suggested to avoid this buckling. This is possible in case of longer spans, where normally built-up sections are used.

In this paper, we present the design of Schottky diodes and voltage multiplier for UHF-band passive RFID applications. The Schottky diodes were fabricated using Titanium (Ti/Al/Ta/Al)-Silicon (n-type) junction in $0.35\;{\mu}m$ CMOS process. The Schottky diode having $4{\times}10{\times}10\;{\mu}m^{2}$ contact area showed a turn-on voltage of about 150 mV for the forward diode current of $20\;{\mu}A$. The breakdown voltage is about -9 V, which provides sufficient peak inverse voltage necessary for the voltage multiplier in the RFID tag chip. The effect of the size of Schottky diode on the turn-on voltage and the input impedance at 900 MHz was investigated using small-signal equivalent model. Also, the effect or qualify factor of the diode on the input voltage to the tag chip is examined, which indicates that high qualify factor Schottky diode is desirable to minimize loss. The fabricated voltage multiplier resulted in a output voltage of more than 1.3 V for the input RF signal of 200mV, which is suitable for long-range RFID applications.
