Fire ranks high among the potential risks faced by most buildings and structures. A full understanding of temperature effects on fiber reinforced concrete is still lacking. This investigation focuses on the study of the residual compressive strength, stress strain behavior and surface cracking of structural polypropylene fiber-reinforced concrete subjected to temperatures up to $300^{\circ}C$. A total of 48 cubes was cast with different fiber dosages and tested under compression after exposing to different temperatures. Concrete cubes with varying macro (structural) fiber dosages were exposed to different temperatures and tested to observe the stress-strain behavior. Digital image correlation, an advanced non-contacting method was used for measuring the strain. Trends in the relative residual strengths with respect to different fiber dosages indicate an improvement up to 15 % in the ultimate compressive strengths at all exposure temperatures. The stress-strain curves show an improvement in post peak behavior with increasing fiber dosage at all exposure temperatures considered in this study.
The modularized subunit of an electronic power transformer (EPT) is a series connection of two H-bridge voltage-source converters and a DC-DC converter with a high-frequency isolation transformer (HFIT). On the basis of cascading and paralleling the modularized subunits, EPT can be used in high-voltage and large-current applications in the power system. This paper discusses the steady state analysis of the modularized subunit of EPT. Theoretical analysis considers the influences of the two H-bridge voltage-source converters on the two sides of the DC-DC converter. We deduce the formulas of the theoretical calculation on the internal electrical characteristics of EPT (e.g., the voltages of the DC-bus capacitor and the primary side peak current of the HFIT). This paper provides guidance on the design and selection of EPT key elements (e.g., the DC-bus capacitors and HFIT). Experimental results are obtained from a single subunit of a laboratory model rated at 962 V, 15 kVA. All calculations, simulations, and experiments confirm the theoretical analysis of the subunit of EPT.

Cadmium is an important occupational and environmental pollutant that damages various organs, especially renal proximal tubular cells. We examined the effect of aqueous extract of Buddleja officinalis (ABO) on cadmium chloride ($CdCl_2$)-induced cytotoxicity in HK-2 human renal proximal tubular cells. HK-2 cells were preincubated with ABO (50, 100, 200 and 400 ${\mu}g/ml$) for 3 hr and then treated with 10 ${\mu}M$$CdCl_2$ for 24 hr. The effect of ABO on $CdCl_2$-induced cytotoxicity in HK-2 cells was investigated by using MTT assay, morphological observation, flow cytometric analysis and Western blot. The results of the MTT assay and morphological observation indicated that $CdCl_2$-induced cytotoxicity was prevented by pretreatment with ABO. In flow cytometric analysis, ABO reduced sub-G1 peak (apoptotic peak) in $CdCl_2$-treated cells. $CdCl_2$-induced procaspase-3 proteolysis and PARP cleavage reduced by pretreatment with ABO. These results suggest that ABO effectively inhibited $CdCl_2$-induced cytotoxicity in HK-2 cells.
Granular maize starch was treated with Thermus scotoductus 4-${\alpha}$-glucanotransferase (${\alpha}$-GTase), and its physicochemical properties were determined. The gelatinization and pasting temperatures of ${\alpha}$-GTase-modified starch were decreased by higher enzyme concentrations. ${\alpha}$-GTase treatment lowered the peak, setback, and [mal viscosity of the starch. At a higher level of enzyme treatment, the melting peak of the amylose-lipid complex was undetectable on the DSC thermogram. Also, ${\alpha}$-GTase-modified starch showed a slower retrogradation rate. The enzyme treatment changed the dynamic rheological properties of the starch, leading to decreases in its elastic (G') and viscous (G") moduli. ${\alpha}$-GTase-modified starch showed more liquid-like characteristics, whereas normal maize starch was more elastic and solid-like. Gel permeation chromatography of modified starch showed that amylose was degraded, and a low molecular-weight fraction with $M_w$ of $1.1{\times}10^5$ was produced. Branch chain-length (BCL) distribution of modified starch showed increases in BCL (DP>20), which could result from the glucans degraded from amylose molecules transferred to the branch chains of amylopectin by inter-/intra-molecular transglycosylation of ${\alpha}$-GTase. These new physicochemical functionalities of the modified starch produced by ${\alpha}$-GTase treatment are applicable to starch-based products in various industries.
The physicochemical properties of starches from dry(Suwon 147) and moist type(Hwangmi) sweet potato were investigated and molecular structural properties of their amylopectins were also studied by gel chromatography. Suwon 147 starch bad lower swelling power and higher gelatinization temperature than Hwangmi starch. $\beta-Amylolysis\;limit(%)$ of Suwon 147 and Hwangmi amylopectin were 57.6% and 57.0%, respectively. Average unit chain length of amylopectins were 24.8 glucose units for Suwon 147 and 21.9 for Hwangmi. The elution profiles by Sephadex G-50 after debranched amylopectins of the two starches were similar but DPs of each peak were different.

This article analyzed the dynamic compaction incuced vibration of man made waste landfill. General dynamic properties and compaction-condition-related dynamic properties were analyzed. from the results, it was turned out that the shear modulus G=17496-58320 t/m2, dannpln ratio D=14~58%, dominant frequency f=6-14Hz. Also, it was turned out that the propagation velocitis of low amplitude shear wave and compressive wave were increased as the number of impact increased, the relation between peak particle velocity, and impact distance was wpp=5.08.[D/r E]-1.4, the peak particle velocity was high at the lower part of the waste fill layer and the range of dynamically improved area was about 6-10m.
Local wall thinning in pipelines affects the structural integrity of industries like nuclear power plants (NPPs). In the present study, a pulsed eddy current (PEC) differential probe with two excitation coils and two Hall-sensors was fabricated to measure the wall thinning in insulated pipelines. A stainless steel test sample was prepared with a thickness that varied from 1 mm to 5 mm and was laminated by plastic insulation to simulate the pipelines in NPPs. The excitation coils in the probe were driven by a rectangular current pulse, the difference of signals from two Hall-sensors was measured as the resultant PEC signal. The peak value of the detected signal is used to describe the wall thinning. The peak value increased as the thickness of the test sample increased. The results were measured at different insulation thicknesses on the sample. Results show that the differential PEC probe has the potential to detect wall thinning in an insulated NPP pipelines.
The thermal properties of chloroprene rubber (CR) with $^{60}Co\;{\gamma}$-ray irradiation has been investigated. The prepared CR was irradiated up to 1000kGy radiation dose by $^{60}Co\;{\gamma}$-ray and the radiation degradation of CR was investigated by thermogravimetric analysis and differential acanning calorimetry. Dynamic mechanical properties measurement and FT-IR observation are carried out as well. From these analyses results, the glass transition temperature($T_g$), decomposition onset temperature(DOT), oxidative induction time(OIT), the peak temperature of loss modulus and mechanical tan ${\delta}$ values were compared for the radiation degradation level of CR. The tendency between $T_g$ and peak temperature of loss modulus and mechanical tan ${\delta}$ agreed well with radiation doses. Decomposition temperature, OIT and DOT showed the same tendencies as increasing radiation doses. It was verified that these analyses are available to estimate the degradation level of CR.

An innovative ozonizer has been developed using a high frequency, surface discharge and a high purity Ti-Si-AI ceramic catalyst as a dielectric component. Using a type of thin film, a thin cylindrical compound ceramic catalyst layer was adhered to the outside surface of its inner electrode. An alternating current (AC) exciting voltage with frequencies from 0.6 KHz to 1.0 KHz and peak-to-peak voltages of 4-6 ㎸ was applied between the electrodes to produce a stable high-frequency silent discharge. A substantial reduction of the exciting voltage was also enabled by means of a thin Ti-Si-Al ceramic catalyst tube. As a result, the ozonizer can effortlessly obtain the required ozone concentration (50-60 g/$m^2$ for oxygen) and high ozone efficiency consumption power (180 g/kWh for oxygen) with-out the assistance of any particular methods. For purposes of this experiment, oxygen gas temperature was set at 2$0^{\circ}C$, with an inner reactor pressure of 1.6 atm at 600 Hz and a flow rate of 2 l/min.

In this study, optical diagnosis of plasma was performed for nitrogen doping in graphene using a horizontal inductively coupled plasma (ICP) system. Graphene was prepared by mechanical exfoliation and the ICP system using nitrogen gas was ignited for plasma-induced and defect-suppressed nitrogen doping. In order to derive the optimum condition for the doping, plasma power, working pressure, and treatment time were changed. Optical emission spectroscopy (OES) was used as plasma diagnosis method. The Boltzmann plot method was adopted to estimate the electron excitation temperature using obtained OES spectra. Ar ion peaks were interpreted as a reference peak. As a result, the change in the concentration of nitrogen active species and electron excitation temperature depending on process parameters were confirmed. Doping characteristics of graphene were quantitatively evaluated by comparison of intensity ratio of graphite (G)-band to 2-D band, peak position, and shape of G-band in Raman profiles. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy also revealed the nitrogen doping in graphene.
