The sealing Characteristics of sealing glasses and Mn-Zn single crystal ferrite (봉착용 유리와 Mn-Zn 단결정 Ferrite와의 봉착특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study we have investigated the sealing characteristics of glasses suitable for producing the magnetic gap of the ferrite head cores which have been widely used for VTR and computer magnetic heads. $PbO-B_2O_3$ g1asses were evaluated by measuring microhardness, thermal expansion coefficient and sliding wear resistance. Concentration distribution of elements at the interface was observed by WDS. wettability was measured by high temperature microscopy. The results were as follows ; 1. In sealing glasses of $PbO-B_2O_3$ system, thermal expansion coefficient and wear volume were increased with increasing PbO content, and were decreased with increasing $B_2O_3$ content. 2. The contact angle of $PbO-B_2O_3$ Systems was mainly influenced by PbO content. 3. The sealing temperature showed a tendency to decrease proportionally with the increase of the coefficient of thermal expansion. 4. The diffusion at the interface between Mn-Zn single crystal ferrite and sealing glasses of $PbO-B_2O_3$ system was dominated by small amount of diffusion of ferrite content into glass part, which was very little affected by sealing heat treatment time.

  • The principal problems in development of dielectric paste materials for PDP(plasma display panel)are PbO free paste and low melting temperature. We prepared PbO free paste from glasses in the system $BaO-ZnO-B_2O_3-V_2O_5$. DTA, XRD and SEM were used to study and characterize $BaO-ZnO-B_2O_3-V_2O_5$ glasses. PbO free paste developed at this paper has thermal expansion of $74{\times}10^{-7}/^{\circ}C$, DTA transformation point of $460^{\circ}C$, and firing condition of $560^{\circ}C$, 10min.

  • 본 연구에서는 초음파 센서에 응용 가능한 $0.4Pb(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-0.6Pb(Zr_xTi_{1-x})O_3+0.5Wt%$ $MnO_2$ 세라믹스에 Zr/(Ti+Zr)비를 0.37에서 0.41로 변화시킨 조성을 1175 $\sim$ 1200$^{\circ}C$ 온도에서 소결하여 이의 결정구조 및 미세조직을 분석하였고, 압전, 유전 특성을 고찰하였다. 본조성에서 x=0.385 조성에서 최대 유전상수 값 3490 이 나타났으며, 그 이상의 첨가에서는 감소하였다. 상경계 영역인 x=0.385 조성에서 $\varepsilon$r, $K_p$, $d_{33}$ 값이 최대값을 나타내었다. $0.4Pb(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-0.6Pb(Zr_xTi_{1-x})O_3+0.5Wt%$ $MnO_2$, 세라믹스에서는 kp 와 $d_{33}$ 는 Zr/(Ti+Zr)비 0.385조성까지 증가하였다가 그 이상 조성에서 감소하였다. $1175^{\circ}C$에서 2시간 소결한 x=0.385조성에서 $\varepsilon$r=3490, kp=0.71, Qm=476의 우수한 압전 특성을 나타내었다.

  • Dielectric and piezoelectric properties of (Pb1-1.5xLnx)(Ti0.98Mn0.02)O3 ceramics with x=0~0.2 have been investigated. Pb(Ti0.98Mn0.02)O3 showed poor sinterability and cracking on cooling, but the substitution of Nd3+ ions into Pb2+ sites resulted in dense microstructures without cracking through reducing crystallographic anisotropy. The Nd3+ substitution, however, deteriorated the temperature stability of the piezoelectric properties because of lowering the Curie point. Electromechanical anisotropy(Kt/Kp) indicated a maximum value of 10 when x=0.1. This result might be attributed to the counteracting effects that with increasing x, the lattice anisotropy decreases while the poling becomes easier due to the increase in O2- vacancy concentration. Thickness-shear mode resonators with (Pb0.85Nd0.1)(Ti0.98Mn0.02)O3 composition showed good resonant characteristics around 4.5 MHz.

Characterization of RTMOCVD Fabricated PbO/ZrO2/TiO2 Multilayer Thin Films (RTMOCVD로 제조된 PbO/TiO2/ZrO2 다층박막의 특성 연구)

  • In this study, the fabrication of PZT films was performed from a multilayer structure comprising $TiO_2$, $ZrO_2$ and PbO thin films prepared by rapid themal chemical vapor deposition(RTMOCVD). $TiO_2$, $ZrO_2$ and PbO are the component layers of oxide multilayer system for a single phase PZT thin film. The composition control of PZT thin film was done by the thickness control of individual component layer. The composition ratio of Pb:Ti:Zr with thickness were 1:0.94:0.55. Occurrence of a single-phase of PZT was initiated at around $550^{\circ}C$ and almost completed at $750^{\circ}C$ under the fixed time of 1hr. As the concentration of Pb increased, the roughness and crystallization in the film increased. From the as result of using XPS and TEM, the single phase formation through annealing is evident. The electrical properites of the prepared PZT thin film(Zr/Ti=40/60, 300 nm) on a Pt-coated substrate were as follow: dielectric constant ${\varepsilon}_r=475$, coercive field Ec=320 kV/cm, and remanant polarization $P_r=11{\mu}C/cm^2$ at an applied voltage of 18 V.

Growth of $PbMg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3}O_3$ Single Crystals by Flux Method (융제법에 의한 $PbMg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3}O_3$단결정 성장)

  • A perovskite relaxor ferroelectrics PMN is used as an important material to investigate the diffusive phase transition phenomena. In this study PMN single crystals were grown and the microstructure were observed. For the growth of PMN single crystals, the spontaneous nucleation technique and the TSSG technique were used. 2-5mm single crystals were grown from PbO self flux and it was observed that only PMN crystals were grown when excess MgO was added over 100% as flux. Single crystals with well developed (001) faces were obtained from PbO-B2O3 flux. single crystals larger than 1 cm were grown from PbO-B2O3 flux by TXXG technique. For higher quality crystals, optimization of the variables such as the rotation speed of seed crystal, the orientation of seed crystal, and cooling rate is needed. With grown crystals, it was confirmed by TEM diffraction pattern of thin plate crystal that the 1:1 ordering of Mg2+ and Nb5+ with small volume exists.

  • Dielectric and electrostrictive properties of 0.99Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-0.01Pb(Mn2/3W1/3)O3 system using KCl-NaCl salts have been investigated as a function of the amount of excess MgO. For the specimens calcined at $700^{\circ}C$ for 1h and then sintered at 115$0^{\circ}C$ for 4h, the perovskite phase and the relative density were about 98% and 95%, respectively. With the addition of excess MgO up to 10mol%, the dielectric constant and the electrostrictive strain increased due to the increase of density and grain size, and these properties were degraded by the further addition of excess MgO. For the 10mol% excess MgO added specimen, the maximum electrostrictive strain, Xmax, and the electrostrictive coefficient, Q11, were 4.5$\times$10-4, 3.5$\times$10-2m4/C2, respectively. These results were correlated with the property of PMW and microstructure.

Pyrometallurgy Process for a Low Graded Gold Alloy with PbO and CaO (저품위 금합금의 PbO와 CaO를 이용한 건식 정련 공정)

  • We proposed a pyrometallurgical process to achieve gold alloy with an Au content of more than 80wt% from low grade (<35wt%) gold alloys. We performed the heat treatment at a temperature of $1200^{\circ}C$ for 5 hrs using Au35wt%-Ag5wt%-Cu60wt% gold alloys mixed with 1/2 weighed PbO and CaO flux by varying the ratio of PbO/(PbO+CaO) from 0 to 1. We investigated the change in content of the samples with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and time of flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (ToF-SIMS). The EDS results showed that the Au content increased from 35.0wt% in the PbO-only sample to 86.7wt% (in the PbO/(PbO+CaO) 1:1 sample), while the other samples achieved more that 84wt%. In addition, the 2/3 flux ratio sample showed the lowest Ag loss into the flux. In the ToF-SIMS results, the PbO only and CaO only fluxes had Au+ peak intensities of 349 and 37, respectively. Although the CaO-only flux might be more favorable considering the loss of Au into the flux, we concluded that the amount of Au lost into the flux could be ignored. Our results imply that that the pyrometallurgical process using a mixed flux is an effective hydrometallurgical process.
