  • Purpose - This work tries to analyze the transformation of sectoral innovation pattern as time goes by to enhance the understanding on sectoral innovative activities, particularly considering the change of the nature of knowledge, and the trend of convergence. Research design, data, and methodology - This work tries to identify main factors, which determine the output of technological innovation through the econometric analysis, utilizing the result of Korean Innovation Survey and find a stylized fact on the change of the innovation pattern. Result - As a result of estimation, some major elements show different effects for two discrete years, 2002 and 2010; in chemical industry the open information source and neutral basic research become more important with the appropriation mechanism such as patents, and in machinery industry, the importance of internal information has been getting decreased with rising importance of customers. Conclusion - This work presents that some elements show different effects for two discrete years. Among three major elements, the source of information and appropriation mechanism shows different features for both industries. This means that we should explicit consider the changing nature of innovative environment, which leads to and heavily influence whether the innovative activity would be effective or not when we design innovation strategy and innovation policy.

  • This research aimed to identify the differences, in terms of the pattern, of using wool and jersey for designing jackets and to provide a theorized solution. The object of this study is development of women's tailored jacket pattern by the traits of fabrics with fabrics those are generally used to develop the power of manufacturing technique about fit of jacket. Basic bodies prototype, graphics of sleeves prototype and graphics of jacket pattern those a clothing company at present(on&on, a brand of Beaucre Merchandising Co.,Ltd) is using were used as basics of tailored jacket pattern. Three kinds of fabric(wool, polyester, jersey) were chosen, we made jackets in the same manufacturing process of the clothing company, modified and made up for the weak points and then we compared and analyzed differences of pattern by the traits of fabrics, the results are as follows: 1) We drafted basic tailored style jacket pattern, made a jacket with wool fabric, made wearing experiment, modified and made up for the weak points by the trend, then developed JacketⅠ for study; 2) With JacketⅠ for study as the basic, we made a jacket with polyester fabric, made wearing experiment, modified and made up for the weak points, then developed Jacket II for study; 3) With JacketⅠ for study as the basic, we made a jacket with jersey fabric, made wearing experiment, modified and made up for the weak points, then developed Jacket III for study; 4) We presented final degree of polymerization of pattern with Jacket I II III for study; 5) We compared and analyzed the differences of pattern with the degree of polymerization of pattern with Jacket I(Wool) for study and Jacket II(Polyester), there was no change of size overall except extra amount which happens because of the trait of the fabric in 20 items of body format pattern, there were differences of size in 3 items(height of a sleeve, width of a sleeve, length of a sleeve) among 5 items of sleeves pattern; 6) We compared and analyzed the differences of pattern with the degree of polymerization of pattern with Jacket I(Wool) for study and Jacket III(Jersey) for study, there were differences of size by the kinds of fabric in 11 items(neck point to shoulder point length, Bishoulder point length, back interscye length, front interscye length, armhole circumference, depth of armhole, chest circumference, bust circumference, waist circumference, hip circumference, waist dart) among 20 items of body format pattern, there were differences of size by the kinds of fabric in 5 items(height of a sleeve, circumference of a sleeve, width of a sleeve, length of a sleeve, width of bottom of a sleeve) among 5 items of sleeves pattern.

  • Genetically modified domestic animals have many potential applications ranging from basic research to production agriculture. One of the goals in transgenic animal production schemes is to reliably predict the expression pattern of the foreign gene. Establishing a method to screen genetically modified embryos for transgene expression before transfer to surrogates may improve the likelihood of producing offspring with the desired expressing pattern. • Keystroke dynamics user authentication is a behavior-based authentication method which analyzes patterns in how a user enters passwords and PINs to authenticate the user. Even if a password or PIN is revealed to another user, it analyzes the input pattern to authenticate the user; hence, it can compensate for the drawbacks of knowledge-based (what you know) authentication. However, users' input patterns are not always fixed, and each user's touch method is different. Therefore, there are limitations to extracting the same features for all users to create a user's pattern and perform authentication. In this study, we perform experiments to examine the changes in user authentication performance when using feature vectors customized for each user versus using all features. User customized features show a mean improvement of over 6% in error equal rate, as compared to when all features are used.

  • An academic article is normally cited within a few years of publication, after which interest falls off as the research field moves on. However, an article is sometimes ignored for many years only to attract interest after a long period of dormancy. Such articles are called "Sleeping Beauties." A general characterization of this pattern has recently been defined and is used in this study to identify five Sleeping Beauties that were published by researchers at the University of Waterloo in the 1970s and 1980s. While a handful of studies have examined the occurrence of such Sleeping Beauties in specific fields of research or in a particular journal, none has yet identified these unusual articles in the context of the lasting impact of a university's research. This study is therefore a novel application of the latest technique for identifying Sleeping Beauties. The possibilities for using this unusual citation pattern in raising the profile of a university's research are discussed.

  • It is very hard to control the quality of coating work in shipbuilding process, because it is highly affected by several parameters such as space between object and nozzle tip, spray velocity, pressure, tip size, etc.. Even so a coating work in shipbuilding is done by workers' experience and skill as yet. It causes not only an excessive use of paints but also a decrease of productivity. In order to solve this problem, we developed a formula that predicts the film thickness and determined the proper coating pattern. Also we had done a series of experiments to verify the results of this study.

  • Large area micro pattern replication has promising application potential in many areas. Rolling imprint process has been demonstrated as one of the most competitive processes for such micro pattern replication, because it has advantages in low cost, high throughput and high efficiency. In this paper, we developed a prototype of roll-to-flat(R2F) thermal imprint system for large area micro pattern replication process, which is one of the key processes in the fabrication of flexible displays. Experimental tests were conducted to evaluate the feasibility of system and the parameters' effect on the process, such as flat mold temperature, loading pressure and rolling speed. 100mm $\times$ 100mm stainless steel flat mold and commercially available polycarbonate sheets were used for the tests. The experimental results showed that the developed R2F system is suitable for fabrication of various micro devices with micro pattern over large area.
