  • Sequential pattern discovery is one of main interests in web usage mining. the technique of sequential pattern discovery attempts to find inter-session patterns such that the presence of a set of items is followed by another item in a time-ordered set of server sessions. In this paper, a tree-based sequential pattern finding method is proposed in order to discover navigation patterns in server sessions. At each learning process, the suggested method learns about the navigation patterns per server session and summarized into the modified Rymon's tree.

초등 수학 교과서의 규칙성과 함수 영역의 활동 고찰 (An Investigation of Patterns and Functions in Elementary School Mathematics Textbooks)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine contents and activities of patterns and functions in the 7th national curriculum for elementary school mathematics and textbooks developed based on it. Through examination, several conclusions were drawn as follow. First, pattern need to be introduced as a way of doing mathematics not as a subject of mathematics. Finding patterns is one of the most important mean to do mathematics. Second, activities for patterns and functions must be organized coherently. Coherent means that mathematical ideas are linked to and build on one another so that students' understanding and knowledge deepens and their ability to apply mathematics expands. Third, independent lessons for patterns and functions are needed. In these lessons, various activities need finding patterns can be introduced to help students understand mathematics. Fourth, the linkage between patterns and functions should be strengthened.

패턴 인식 알고리즘 기반 휴머노이드 경로 시스템 개발 (Development of Path-Finding System for Humanoid Robots Based on Image Pattern Recognition)

  • 본 논문에서는 패턴 인식 알고리즘을 기반으로 인간 형태를 가진 휴머노이드 로봇의 보행 동작을 제어하는 경로 인식 시스템을 개발하였다. 휴머노이드 로봇이 효과적인 작업 수행을 할 수 있도록 행동 프리미티브를 정의 하였으며, Canny 에지 검출 알고리즘을 적용한 보도 블록의 패턴 및 색상 추출, 이를 기반으로 한 이동 방향을 인식하는 알고리즘 제안하고, 리눅스 운영체제와 영상 카메라가 장착된 소형 휴머노이드 임베디드 시스템에 구현하였다. 제안 알고리즘의 성능 실험을 휴머노이드 로봇의 동작 속도 및 인식율에 관점에서 수행하였으며, 다양한 현실 환경을 반영하기 위해 경사도 및 조도 변화를 적용하였다. 실험 결과 제안 알고리즘은 다양한 환경에서 시각 장애인의 길안내 도우미 로봇으로서 적절한 수준에서 반응함을 확인하였다.

원형배열 안테나의 위상차 패턴을 이용한 방향탐지 기법 (Direction Finding Method of the Uniform Circular Array Antenna Using the Pattern of Phase Differences)

  • 본 논문에서는 원형배열 안테나의 위상차와 위상차 배열 패턴을 비교하여 전파 신호원의 방향을 찾는 방법을 연구하였다. 위상비교 방향탐지 방식에서는 안테나 기준선 길이가 입사신호의 0.5파장보다 길면 같은 위상차에서 두 개 이상의 방위가 계산되는 방위각 모호성이 발생한다. 본 논문에서는 0-360도 방위각에서 전파 신호가 입사될 때 5개 안테나에서 검출된 위상차 패턴을 융합하여 방위각 모호성을 제거한다. 개발된 모호성 제거 기법은 안테나가 5개인 균일원형배열 구조에서 안테나 기준선이 입사신호의 1.236파장 이하이면 방위각 모호성 없이 방향탐지를 정확하게 수행하였다. 본 알고리즘은 조난구조와 전자정보시스템의 방향탐지 장치 설계에 잘 활용할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

A Study on Finding the Rail Space in Elevators Using Matched Filter

  • In this paper, we study on finding the rail space in elevators by analyzing each image captured with CCD camera. We propose a method that applies one-dimensional matched filter to the pixels of a selected search space in the vertical line at a horizontal position and decides the position with the thickness of the space being represented by a black thick line in captured images. The pattern similarity representing how strongly the associated image pixels resemble with the thick line is defined and calculated with respect to each position along the vertical line of pixels. The position and thickness of the line are decided from the point having the maximum in pattern similarity graph. In the experiments of the proposed method under different illuminational conditions, it is observed that all the pattern similarity graphs show similar shape around door area independent of the conditions and the method can effectively detect the rail space if the rails are illuminated with even weak light. The method can be used for real-time embedded systems because of its simple algorithm, in which it is implemented in simple structure of program with small amount of operations in comparison with the conventional approaches using Canny edge detection and Hough transform.

  • Bacause the chatter vibration is a main factor to damage on the quality and integrity, The cure is required peticurity in cykinderical plunge grinding. The chatter vibration relatied with wheel speed, workpiece and infeed rate. Therefore, we expressed more credible normal signal and chatter signal Pattern in accrdiance with wheel speed and acquired RMS signal of the accelerrometer. In thos study, after finding the chatter pattern, we applied two parameters, standard deviation and Kurtosis, to Neural Network.

  • Unification of neural network with a hierarchical pattern recognition is presented for recognizing large set of objects. A two-step identification procedure is developed for pattern recognition: coarse and fine identification. The coarse identification is designed for finding a class of object while the fine identification procedure is to identify a specific object. During the training phase a course neural network is trained for clustering larger set of reference objects into a number of groups. For training a fine neural network, expert neural network is also trained to identify a specific object within a group. The presented idea can be interpreted as two step identification. Experimental results are given to verify the proposed methodology.

  • Nongroup Cellular Automata(CA) having two trees in the state transition diagram of a CA is suitable for pattern classifier which divides pattern set into two classes. Maji et al. [1] classified patterns by using multiple attractor cellular automata as a pattern classifier with dependency vector. In this paper we propose a method of generation of a pattern classifier using feature vector which is the extension of dependency vector. In addition, we propose methods for finding nonreachable states in the 0-tree of the state transition diagram of TPMACA corresponding to the given feature vector for the analysis of the state transition behavior of the generated pattern classifier.

Pattern recognition as a consistent labeling problem

  • This paper discusses a new method of recognizing patterns employing consistent labeling. A consistent labeling problem is a generalized expression of constraint satisfaction problems. When a pattern is recognized by pattern matching, the matching between a reference pattern and an acquired pattern resolves itself into finding correspondence between the pixels on the former and those on the latter. This can be expressed as a consistent labeling problem. Pattern association, a variation of pattern recognition, is also described employing consistent labeling. The proposed technique is supported by experimental results, yet further studies need to be done before its practical use.

  • Membrane structures, a kind of lightweight soft structural system, are used for spatial structures. The design procedure of membrane structures are needed to do shape finding, stress-deformation analysis and cutting pattern generation, because the material property has strong axial stiffness, but little bending stiffness. The problem of cutting pattern is highly varied in their size, curvature and material stiffness. So, the approximation inherent in cutting pattern generation methods is quite different. Therefore the ordinary computer software of structural analysis & design is not suitable for membrane structures. In this study, we develop the program for cutting pattern generation using geodesic line, and investigate the result of example's cutting pattern in detail.
