  • LGP is a key component of LCD back light unit because it determines brightness and sharpness of the display image. Usually, it has optical patterns fabricated on the bottom surface. These optical patterns convert point or line sources placed in the side of LGP to plane source at the top surface by changing the propagating direction of the incident light. In the present paper the LiGA-reflow method was applied to fabricate the LGP mold. Furthermore, the optical simulation considering the replication ratio of pattern height was applied to the pattern design. The optical simulation through systematic correction scheme was adopted to find the optimum distribution of pattern density. Finally, the stamper fabricated by this method was installed in the mold and LGP was produced by injection molding. As a result of luminance measurement for the final product, the average luminance and luminance uniformity was measured 3,180 nit and 84%, respectively. Consequently, the mold fabrication method using the LiGA-reflow and optical simulation(CAE) can save the expense and time compared with the existing fabrication methods(laser ablation and chemical etching).

  • Chemical mechanical polishing(CMP) has been widely accepted for the planarization of multi-layer structures in semiconductor fabrication. But a variety of defects such as abrasive contamination, scratch, dishing, erosion and corrosion are occurred during CMP. Especially, dishing and erosion defects increase the metal resistance because they decrease the interconnect section area, and ultimately reduce the lift time of the semiconductor. Due to this reason dishing and erosion must be prohibited. The pattern density and size in chip have a significant influence on dishing and erosion occurred by over-polishing. The fixed abrasive pad(FAP) was applied and tested to reduce dishing and erosion in this paper. The abrasive concentration decrease of FAP results in advanced pattern selectivity which can lead the uniform removal in chip and declining over-polishing. Consequently, reduced dishing and erosion was observed in CMP of tungsten pattern wafer with proposed FAP and chemicals.

  • Double-sided photovoltaic (PV) modules have received significant attention in recent years as a technology that can achieve higher annual energy production rates than single-sided modules. The shingled technology is a promising method for manufacturing high-density and high-power modules. These modules are divided by laser and joined with electrically conductive adhesives. The output efficiency of the divided cells depends on the division pattern and the electrode pattern, making it important to understand the output characteristics. In this study, the output characteristics of large-area double-sided light-receiving shingled cells with different split patterns and electrode patterns were investigated. The M6 size, with 6 divisions in the electrode pattern, had the highest efficiency when using 142 front fingers and 146 rear fingers. The M10 size, with 7 divisions, had the highest output when using 150 fingers equally in the front and rear. The M12 size, also with 7 divisions, showed the highest output characteristics when using 192 front fingers and 208 rear fingers.

  • In this paper, a mathematical model of describing oxygen density in multi-band type reheating furnaces was presented. Model designed in this paper was composed of majorly two parts. One is a model regarding 'variation of existing gas'. The other is a model of showing 'variation of oxygen content'. Each model is designed by considering four factors related to variation of oxygen density based on chemical reaction, fluid dynamics and fuzzy theory. Four factors to be considered are combustion reaction in burner, fluid transfer between adjacent combustion bands, fluid transfer from furnace's inner space to external space, and input of external air via gates. According to simulation results, it was shown that varying pattern of oxygen density in each combustion band is similar to generally expected operation data in reheating furnace.

  • This paper constructed the 3D real-time numerical model for which predicts the water quality and movement characteristics of the inner bay, which consider the characteristics of the wind-driven current and density current in estuaries which generated by the river discharge from the Hyeong-san river and oceanic water of the Eastern sea. The constructed numerical model reappeared successfully the seawater circulation current of Yeong-il Bay, which used the input conditions of the real-time tidal current, river discharge and weather conditions at March of 2001 year. Also to observe the wind-driven current and density current in estuaries effected to the seawater circulation pattern of the inner bay, we investigated the analyzation for the each impact factors and the relationship with the water quality of Yeong-il bay

  • In this paper a parametric study using an immersed boundary method has been carried out to investigate the effects of stable density stratification on the wakes past two identical three-dimensional hills aligned in tandem. The Reynolds number based on the uniform inlet velocity and twice the hill height was fixed at Re=300 while the Froude number based on the inlet velocity and the hill height was retained at Fr=0.2. Neutral flow without density stratification was also computed for comparison. Under a strong stratification, vertical motion of fluid particles over the three-dimensional hills is suppressed and the wake structures behind the hills become planar. Depending on the distance between the two hills, the flow pattern of each wake is significantly affected by the stratification. There is a critical hill distance at which flow characteristics drastically change. Qualitative and quantitative features of the wake interaction are reported.

  • The purpose of the present study was to investigate the relationship between nutrient status, and bone mineral state which influenced by aging process. The subjects were 196 people over 65 years old(male 72, female124). The present dietary intake was estimated by the 24-hr, recall method, and individual dietary history concerning consumption of meat, fish and dairy products was obtained by questionaires. The syndrome of senility including seniliy was evaluated according to "Cornell Medical Index". The five subjects who showed 'Good' grade in bone senility, and five subjects who showed 'Risk' and 'Danger' grade were selected and their spine and femur bone density was measured by "Dual Photon Absorptiometry". The bone density measurement showed that the subjects with 'Good' grade in bone senility had bone density above that of normal person, and their nutrient status were satisfactory, whereas the subjects with 'Risk' and 'Danger' grade in bone senility had severe osteoporotic pattern, and their nutrient status were very poor. The food consumption score showed that the subject with higher intake of meat rather than milk had good grade in bone senility (p<0.05). Therefore, past meats consumption can be considered to be a significant factor in the present bone status. The nutrient intakes appeared to be significant factors in bone status in male, whereas there was little effect of nutrients intakes in female. Therefore, the risk of osteoporosis can increase as syndrome of bone senility and nutrient intakes were worse, and its is possible to evaluate bone status and predict osteoporosis simply from informations concerning syndrome of bone senility and nutrient intakes in old population over 65.

  • The effect of the temperature, current density and deposit time on hard chromium deposition in trivalent chromium bath was investigated. Cathode current efficiency increased with increasing current density. Increasing bath temperature from $20^{\circ}C$ to $50^{\circ}C$, chromium deposits were produced in higher current density and the maximum current efficiency was increased. At the plating conditions of $40^{\circ}C$, $30A/dm\m^2$, the deposition thickness increased in proportion to increasing electrolysis time The rate is$ 90\mu\textrm{m}$/hrs. for 2 hours. Microhardness of chromium deposits increased with increasing bath temperature and decreasing current density, and it was constant with electrolysis time. All of bath conditions, microstructure of chromium deposits has nodular structure with some cracking pattern and nodule size increased with increasing deposit thickness.

  • Controlling the light energy and major nutrients is important for high cell density culture of cyanobacterial cells. The growth phase of Anabaena variabilis can be divided into an exponential growth phase and a deceleration phase. In this study, the cell growth in the deceleration phase showed a linear growth pattern. Both the period of the exponential growth phase and the average cell growth rate in the deceleration phase increased by controlling the light intensity. To control the light intensity, the specific irradiation rate was maintained above $10\;{\mu}mol/s/g$ dry cell by increasing the incident light intensity stepwise. The final cell density increased by controlling the nutrient supply. For the control of the nutrient supply, nitrate, phosphate, and sulfate were intermittently added based on the growth yield, along with the combined control of light intensity and nutrient concentration. Under these control conditions, both final cell concentration and cell productivity increased, to 8.2 g/l and 1.9 g/l/day, respectively.
