  • This study investigated the influence of children's emotional expression and sociability, and their mothers' communication pattern on their prosocial behavior. The participants were 65 preschool children aged between 5 and 6, and their mothers. Each child-mother dyad was observed for 30 minutes in a lab setting, which was designed to evaluate the child's socioemotional competence and the mother's socialization behavior. Videotaped data were analyzed by two coders for aspects of sharing behavior, the expression of happiness, sadness, anger, anxiety, and sociability for children, and mothers' communication strategies. Results showed that children's anger and anxiety expression were the most significant predictors for their prosocial behavior. Mothers' punitive communication pattern negatively affected children's prosocial behavior. However, when compared to the children's emotional expression, its' accountability were not significant. The influence of negative emotions, and its' adverse role in interpersonal interactions are discussed.

  • The present study is aiming at improving the performance of main nozzle of an air jet loom with a modified reed and auxiliary nozzles. The double coaxial pipe jets consisting of a central air jet and an annular air jet have been experimentally investigated. The duter jet has a potential core and a constant velocity. The inner jet through an inner long pipe is induced by the subatmospheric pressure near the inner nozzle edge, and the jet velocity of an inner pipe is always lower than that of a outer pipe. The static pressures of the main nozzle over a wide range of the nozzle tank pressure were measured, and the nozzle velocity and Mach numbers were analytically calculated. Experiment81 results indicate that the critical condition of Mach number of unity to occur at the two positions in a main nozzle; one of them is the needle tip and the other is the acceleration tube exit An increase in the tank pressure causes the critical throat condition to occur at the two positions above. The velocity of acceleration-tube exit is maximum at the critical length L* and flow patter in acceleration-tube over critical lengh remains unstable.

  • In this paper, we design wavelet matched filters using Wavelet Transform available in the field of time-frequency analysis, for the optical patter recognition, and study optical correlation properites according to variations of the dilation factor of wavelet functions, which were compared with conventional matched filter and POF. We have found that the wavelet matched filters depend upon the shapes if used input patterns and dilation factors of the wavelet function in order to have the best dicriminability. Also, we show the edge enhanced effects of 2-D image, which is one of the properities of the wavelet transform. If has been found that the wavelet matched filter can discriminate better than the conventional matched filter and POF owing to their bandpass properties, and found that the proposed wavelet matched filters have more sensitive correlation response than POF.

  • In this paper, pattern classifier is designed to classify precipitation and non-precipitation events from weather radar data. The proposed classifier is based on Fuzzy Neural Network(FNN) and consists of three FNNs which operate in parallel. In the proposed network, the connection weights of the consequent part of fuzzy rules are expressed as two polynomial types such as constant or linear polynomial function, and their coefficients are learned by using Least Square Estimation(LSE). In addition, parametric as well as structural factors of the proposed classifier are optimized through Differential Evolution(DE) algorithm. After event classification between precipitation and non-precipitation echo, non-precipitation event is to get rid of all echo, while precipitation event including non-precipitation echo is to get rid of non-precipitation echo by classifier that is also based on Fuzzy Neural Network. Weather radar data obtained from meteorological office is to analysis and discuss performance of the proposed event and echo patter classifier, result of echo pattern classifier compare to QC(Quality Control) data obtained from meteorological office.

  • This research was performed to study the actual behavior of 1-2W type pipe greenhouse under the influence of typhoon by measuring the vairous strains instructural materials. These results can eventually be utilized in the desgin criteria as well as in the modification of conventional equaltion for calcu more realistic wind loads. Tehfirst data under the influence of Typhoon Olga arrived in Jinju on Aug. 1999. Were obtained by strain gage with 10 sensor points. According to the data obtained, the typical variation ofstrain depending on wind patter could be observed. The strains in structural frame were fluctuated very sensitively depending on the direction and magnitude of wind velocity. But some of the data were lost or missed by system's failure. A kind of inherent vibration pattern of greenhouse pipe frame was observed from the plotted data, but this phenomenon is not so clear as to be separated from the overall fluctuation so far. This experimental research is expected to be continued as a long term project to measure and analyze the strain pattern of structural frame depending on the various locations and section characteristics by wasy of adopting more efficientg instrument with sufficient number of measuring points and accuracy.
