Photocatalytic Oxidation of Humic Acid by various commerical TiO2: A Comparative Study (부식산의 광촉매 산화 공정에 도입된 여러 종류의 상용 TiO2 비교연구)

  • In this study, the effects of crystalinity, composition and particle size of $TiO_2$ catalysts on the degradations of humic acid in aqueous solution was assessed using the commercially avaliable $TiO_2$ particles. Photocatalytic oxidations of humic acid (HA, Aldrich Co.) solution were carried out in case of adding different types of $TiO_2$ catalysts and their decomposition efficiencies were analyzed with respect to pH, DOC and UV absorbances values for the HA solutions and compared one another. The experimental results showed that $TiO_2$ particles(Degussa P-25) mixed with anataze and rutile gave the highest degradation efficiencies, respectively and much lower degradation efficiency in $TiO_2$ paticles of rutile only type. In comparing among ST series of anataze types, it was observed that the degradation efficiencies generally were increased with increasing $TiO_2$ contents and surface area of the particles. Higher degradation efficiency of HA was also found in zeolite type(D-TZ) of $TiO_2$ paticles compared with hydroxyapatite type (D-TH) of $TiO_2$ particles.

  • 각종 산업에 있어서 분체는 여러가지 형태로 다량 사용되고 있으며 분체 취급시 정전기에 의한 폭발, 화재 등 많은 재해가 발생되고 있다. 분진폭발은 과거에 탄광에서 탄진폭발에 의한 것이 대부분 이었지만 최근 플라스틱 공업, 유기합성 공업, 분말 공업 등 원재료와 제품을 분체로 취급하는 공정이 증가하면서 분진폭발 사고가 현저히 증가하였다. 그러나 현재 이러한 재해 방지를 위한 충분한 검토 및 대책이 잘 이루어지지 않고 있는 실정이다.

A Fundamental Properties of Microcement in Earth Concreting (지반보강용 마이크로시멘트의 기초적 특성)

  • Generally speaking, grouting on the base stabilizes the ground as the aspects of mechanic and engineering properties, with drilling hole at any depth of the earth, and pressuring the cement milk or special chemical grouting material in it. The purpose of grouting on the base is waterproofness and solidification of the ground by earth concreting that the cement milk pass through paticles of soil or crack of rock. This report shows the fundamental properties of microcement compared with those of ordinary portland cement in a point of grouting. It also describes that experimental applications on the treatment of the weathered rock at the constructior of Taegu subway and Boryong earth filled dam site, south of chungchung province, resulted in success.

  • A study was performed to measure the heavy metal concentrations of suspended particles in iron castings during February, 1990. The heavy metal concentrations were analyzed using patricles atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The results were as fellows 1. The concentrations of suspended paticles by casting process were at furnace 4.19mg/m$^{3}$ at pouring 2.93mg/m$^{3}$ at nonferrous furnace 3.90mg/m$^{3}$, at molding 1.17mg/m$^{3}$, jung ja 2.23mg/m$^{3}$, desanding 5.42mg/m$^{3}$, sand treatment 4.82mg/m$^{3}$, finishing 1,20mg/m$^{3}$. 2. Among the total of 8 iron casting workplaces, the concentrations Fe of furnace was 0.36mg/m$^{3}$, Cu of nonferrous furnace 0.02mg/m$^{3}$, Pb of pouring 0.02mg/m$^{3}$, Cr of desanding 0.01mg/m$^{3}$ and Mn of furnace 0.03mg/m$^{3}$.

Autogenous Calvarial Particulate Bone Grafting in Craniosynostosis (머리뼈 붙음증에서의의 자가 두개 미립뼈 이식술)

  • Purpose: Autogenous particulate bone grafting is a type of autogenous bone graft that consists of small particles of cortical and cancellous bone. Autogenous particulate bone grafting has been used for calvarial bone defect after calvarial defect of craniosynostosis and prevention of temporal depression after fronto-orbital advancement. The results were followed up and studied for effectiveness of autogenous calvarial particulate bone grafting. Methods: Cranial vault remodeling and fronto-orbital advancement was performed for six craniosynostosis patient from August 2005 to October 2007. Autogenous particulate bone grafting was harvested from endocortex of separated cranial vault and if insufficient, from extocortex of occipital region using Hudson brace & D'Errico craniotomy bit and was grafted on the calvarial bone defect of cranial vault and temporal hollow. Fibrin glues were added to the harvested particulated bone for adherence and shaping of paticles. Results: Autogenous particulate bone grafting was followed-up at least longer than I year. The calvarial bony defects following primary cranial remodeling were successfully covered and postoperative temporal depressions after fronto-orbital advancement were also well prevented by grafted particulated bone. Conclusion: Autogenous calvarial particulate bone graft can be harvested in infants and young children with minimal donor site morbidity. It effectively heals cranial defects in children and during fronto-orbital advancement reduces the prevalence of osseous defects independent of patient age. It's easy and effective method of reconstruction of calvarial defect.

ALD와 PEALD 공정에서의 파티클 형성과 박막 특성 비교

  • 본 실험에서는 전구체(Precursor)로 TMA (Tris methyl Aluminum)를 사용한 ALD (Atomic Layer Deposition)와 PEALD (Plasma Enhanced Atomic Layer Deposition) 공정 중 발생하는 입자(particle)를 ISPM (In-Situ Particle Mornitor)로 관찰하였다. ALD과 PEALD 공정에서 Al2O3 박막을 형성하기 위해서 반응가스(Reactant)로 각 각 H2O와 O2 plasma를 사용하였다. 이러한 차이로 인해서 진공 챔버(Vacuum Chamber) 안에서의 각기 다른 매커니즘에 의해서 Al2O3의 박막이 형성된다. 또한 공정 중 발생할 수 있는 파티클(Particle) 생성 매커니즘의 차이점을 가진다. ALD의 경우 전구체와 반응가스 사이에 충분한 purge가 이루어지지 않거나 dead zone이 존재할 경우 라인과 챔버 상에 잔류한 전구체와 반응가스에 의해서 불완전한 반응물로 파티클이 생성될 수 있다. 반면 PEALD 경우는 반응가스(Reactant)로 O2 plasma를 극부(localization)적으로 형성하여 박막을 형성하므로 반응가스의 잔류의 영향은 없으나 고에너지의 플라즈마에 의해서 물리적 영향에 의한 파티클이 생성될 수 있다. 공정 중 발생하는 입자(Particle)은 수율 감소와 박막의 물성에 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 그러므로 두 공정 중 발생하는 파티클을 ISPM으로 관찰하였고, 각 공정에서 형성된 박막의 두께 균일도, 표면의 형상(morphology), 화학적 조성 및 전기적 특성을 측정하였다. 이를 통해서 ALD와 PEALD의 파티클과 박막특성을 비교하였다.

STUDIES ON THE VIRUSES OF RADISH MOSAIC

  • A mosaic diseased radish collected from the suburb of Seoul, in November, 1961 was used for studing the host range, physical properteis, purificaitiion, insect transmission, and electron microscopy. A Japanese strain of radish mosaic(RPV) was also used with Korean strain of radish mosaic (KRMV) for a comparative study. The two viruses, KRMA and RPV, were identified by the difference in host range, insect transmission and electron microscopy. The KRMA was severely infective on tobacco and Nicotiana glutinosa, while on Gomphrena globsa was immune to the virus. RPV produces necrotic local lesions on Gomphrena globosa but did not infect tobacco and N. glutinosa. Among varieties of radish, Seoul, Akamaroo, Akanagea, Koong-Joong showed more severe symptoms than Simoo, Minong, Paek-soo, which appeared to be fainly resistant. In a number of tests, it was found that the virus KRMA retained its infectivity until to a dilution of 1:2,000, heating at $58^{\circ}$ for 10 minutes, adn aging in vitro for 7 days at room temperature. The RPV was not inactivated until it was diluted to 1:2,000, heated to $56^{\circ}$, and aged for 6 days. The KRMV was readily transmitted by the aphid(Myzus persicae Sulz). The virus RPV was not transmitted by the aphid in a number of tests. Partialy purified viruses using ammonium acetate buffer, salting-out by ammonium sulfate and centrifugation of high and low speed were highly infective. Electron micrographs showed that the KRMV paticles are of spherical particles whereas the RPV particles are rod-shaped.

  • We have prepared microcolumns made of stainless steel tubing, glass-lined stainless steel tubing, and silica-lined stainless steel tubing and examined their performances comparatively. The length of columns was fixed as 30 cm, and the I.D.'s, either 1 mm or 0.5 mm. Octadecyl bonded silica paticles $(5\mu)$ were used as the stationary phases. p-Nitroaniline, N,N-dimethyl-o-nitro-p-toluidine,and ethylbenzene were used as the test solutes. The glass-lined or silica-lined stainless steel columns showed better performances than the plain stainless steel column did. The number of theoretical plates over 10,000 were obtained even for the 0.5 mm I.D. (30 cm long) column as long as the glass-lined stainless steel tubing was used.
