  • There are many free applications that need users to sign up before they can use the applications nowadays. It is difficult to choose a suitable password for your account. If the password is too complicated, then it is hard to remember it. However, it is easy to be intruded by other users if we use a very simple password. Therefore, biometric-based approach is one of the solutions to solve the issue. The biometric-based approach includes keystroke dynamics on keyboard, mice, or mobile devices, gait analysis and many more. The approach can integrate with any appropriate machine learning algorithm to learn a user typing behavior for authentication system. Preprocessing phase is one the important role to increase the performance of the algorithm. In this paper, we have proposed ensemble-by-session (EBS) method which to operate the preprocessing phase before the training phase. EBS distributes the dataset into multiple sub-datasets based on the session. In other words, we split the dataset into session by session instead of assemble them all into one dataset. If a session is considered as one day, then the sub-dataset has all the information on the particular day. Each sub-dataset will have different information for different day. The sub-datasets are then trained by a machine learning algorithm. From the experimental result, we have shown the improvement of the performance for each base algorithm after the preprocessing phase.

  • This paper proposes a password-based mutual authentication and key agreement protocol, which is designed by applying ECDSA and ECDH. The proposed protocol, AKE-ECC, computes 2 times of point multiplication over ECC on each of client and server, and generates the key pairs(public key. private key) and a common session key using ECDH that is different compare to previously proposed protocol. It is against common attacks include a dictionary attack and the security of proposed protocol is based on the ECDLP, ECDH.

  • In recent rears. web portal system has received much attention as a user interface for the grid environment. Grid system uses symmetric key for authenticating user identity while the traditional portal system does a password-based authentication. Regarding this, many researches are progressing to integrate portal accounts with symmetric key. Specially. researches such as GAMA and PURSE are active and those focus on easy usability for users who familiar with password-based authentication. However the protection of data and resources is a critical issue in Grid environment, because those are shared through a wide-area network. In this paper, we suggest a new authentication mechanism which unify authentication mechanisms between portal system and grid service by using symmetric key. It will improve a security level in UI layer as much as in grid service.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the behavioral factors affecting the security attitude and intention to use biometrics password based on the protection motivation theory. This study also investigates security awareness training to understand trust, privacy, and security vulnerability regarding biometric authentication password. This empirical analysis reveals security awareness training boosts the protection motivational factors that affect on the behavior and intention of using biometric authentication passwords. This study also indicates that biometric authentication passwords can be used when the overall belief in a biometric system is present. After all, security awareness training enhances the belief of biometric passwords and increase the motivation to protect security threats. The study will provide insights into protecting security vulnerability with security awareness training.

  • Password with a combination of 4-digit numbers has been widely adopted for various authentication systems (such as credit card authentication, digital door lock systems and so on). However, this system could not be safe because the 4-digit password can easily be stolen by predicting it from the fingermarks on the keypad or display screen. Furthermore, due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, contactless method has been preferred over contact method in authentication. This paper suggests a new password input method based on eyeblink pattern analysis in video sequence. In the proposed method, when someone stands in front of a camera, the sequence of eyeblink motions is captured (according to counting signal from 0 to 9 or 9 to 0), analyzed and encoded, producing the desired 4-digit decimal numbers. One does not need to touch something like keypad or perform an exaggerated action, which can become a very important clue for intruders to predict the password.

  • Knowledge Based Authentication is the most well-known technique for user authentication in a computer security framework. Most frameworks utilize a straightforward PIN (Personal Identification Number) or psssword as an data authenticator. Since password based authenticators typically will be software based, they are inclined to different attacks and weaknesses, from both human and software. Some of the attacks are talked about in this paper.

  • Password checking is the most popular user authentication method. The keystroke dynamics can be combined to result in a more secure system. We propose an autoassociator multilayer perceptron which is trained with the timing vectors of the owner's keystroke dynamics and then used to discriminate between the owner and an imposter. An imposter typing the correct password can be detected with a very high accuracy using the proposed approach. The approach can also be used over the internet such as World Wide Web when implemented using a Java applet.

  • Inspired by the rapid development of deep learning and online biometrics-based authentication, we propose a handwritten one-time password authentication system which employs deep learning-based handwriting recognition and writer verification techniques. We design a convolutional neural network to recognize handwritten digits and a Siamese network to compute the similarity between the input handwriting and the genuine user's handwriting. We propose the first application of the second edition of NIST Special Database 19 for a writer verification task. Our system achieves 98.58% accuracy in the handwriting recognition task, and about 93% accuracy in the writer verification task based on four input images. We believe the proposed handwriting-based biometric technique has potential for use in a variety of online authentication services under the FIDO framework.

  • The two factor authentication capability, private key possession and key protection password knowledge, and the strong public key cryptography protocol of PKI authentication have largely contributed to the rapid construction of Internet transaction trusted infrastructure. The reusability of a certificate-based identity for every PKI site was another contribution factor of the spread of PKI authentication. Nevertheless, the PKI authentication has been criticised mainly for the cost of PKI construction, inconvenience of individual certificate management, and difficulties of password management. Recently FIDO authentication has received high attention as an alternative of the PKI authentication. The FIDO authentication is also based on the public key cryptography which provides strong authentication services, but it does not require individual certificate issuance and provides user-friendly and secure authentication services by integrating biometric technologies. The purpose of this paper is to concretely compare the PKI-authentication and FIDO-authentication and, based on the analysis result, to propose their corresponding applications.

  • In this paper, we propose a user friendly password input method for mobile devices which is secure against SSA. The proposed method is a numeric password input method such as a conventional PIN method. One of the buttons, numbers and colors, so as to display the two pieces of information to double. The user can select one of the colors or numbers within one button to type in the password. Because an attacker does not know whether the user has entered any color and number, the proposed technique is safe from the SSA. Also to be secure for smudge attacks and password guessing attacks through random changes in the number and color information.
