  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the frequency band pass filter on the P300 event-related potential in the working memory. Methods : The subjects were 20 women in their 20s who applied for participation in the experiment. Event-related potentials (ERPs) were elicited using 3-back tasks for the working memory, and were recorded from Fz, Cz, and Pz scalp electrodes. The high-pass filters were set to 0.01, 0.1, and 0.3 Hz for analysis purposes, and the low-pass filters were set to 30 and 15 Hz. The 3-back task was presented for a total of 100 times, among which 30 times were designated for the target stimulation (a matched number) and 70 times for the non-target stimulation (an unmatched number). The temporal interval between each stimulation was set at 1 second, while each time duration was randomly presented between 2 to 4 seconds. ERP were analyzed for the P300 recorded from Fz, Pz and Cz scalp electrodes. Results : Latency and amplitude had no significant interaction effects in both the high- and low-pass filters. For the main effects, the latency and amplitude of the P300 event-related potential had no significant difference in the high-pass filters, but the latency had a significant difference in the low-pass filter of Fz, and the amplitude had a significant difference in the low-pass filter of Pz. Conclusion : The results of this study showed that the less than 0.3 Hz high filters had no effects on the differences between the latency and amplitude of the P300 event-related potential in the working memory. The 30Hz low-pass filter, however, was found to be useful for recording the P300 event-related potential in the working memory.

  • The aim of this study was to investigate correlations of the Trunk Control Test (TCT), Postural Assessment Scale for Stroke (PASS-TC), and Trunk Impairment Scale (TIS) and to compare the TCT, PASS-TC, TIS and its subscales in relation to balance, gait and functional performance ability after stroke. Sixty-two stroke patients attending a rehabilitation program participated in the study. Trunk control was measured with the use of TCT, PASS-TC, TIS balance (Berg Balance scale; BSS), gait ability (10 m walk test), functional performance ability (Tuned Up and Go Test TUG) and the mobility part of the Modified Barthel index (MBI), Fugl Meyer-Upper/Lower Extremity ($FM-U{\cdot}L/E$), The scatter-plot (correlation coefficient) was composed for the total scores of the TCT, PASS-TC, and TIS. The multiple regression analysis was performed to evaluate the impact of trunk control on balance, gait, and functional performance ability. Twenty eight participants (45.2%) and twenty participants (32.3%) obtained the maximum score on the TCT and PASS-TC respectively; no subject reached the maximum score on the Trunk Impairment Scale. There were significant correlations between the TIS and TCT (r=.38, p<.01), PASS-TC (r=.30, p<.05), TCT and PASS-TC (r=.59, p<.01). Stepwise multiple regression analysis showed that the BBS score (${\beta}=.420{\sim}.832$) had slightly more power in predicting trunk control than the $FM-U{\cdot}L/E$. TIS-dynamic sitting balance, TUG and the MBI-mobility part. This study 치early indicates that trunk control is still impaired in stroke patients. Measures of trunk control were significantly related with values of balance, gait and functional performance ability. The results imply that management of trunk rehabilitation after stroke should be emphasized.

  • In this paper, a unit cell for low pass filter design by using composite right and left-handed transmission line in conductor-backed coplanar waveguide is proposed. The characteristics of the unit cell are analyzed in order to design a low pass filter in small sizes. By changing the sizes of the unit cell, the parameters of right-handed and left-handed immittance components are changed and the desired characteristics of the unit cell are achieved. The equivalent circuit of the unit cell is extracted and analyzed either. As a result, the simulation results of the unit cell and the equivalent circuit are almost identified. The movement and energy distributions of electromagnetic field are shown to confirm the property of the unit cell. In the end, a low pass filter is demonstrated by cascading three proposed unit cells, which shows cutoff frequency of 1.53GHz and deep attenuation from 2.23GHz to 4.49GHz lower than -50dB.

  • Ship Blocks are assembled by welding, and among them, welding between large blocks (Pre-erection stage) is used as feature of butt. In this process, local material has a experience of thermal cycle and become finally shrunk. As for inconsistency of shrunk weldments and adjacent regions, ship structure would be deformed locally and globally. Thermal distortion analyses are done for control of these processes, and methodologies capable of ship block size among them are using 2-D shell element in FEM. A shell element takes charge of plate, so it has its thickness which is important for angular distortion by welding. By the way, a butt-welding consists normally of several passes, and weldment thickness are different at each pass. If a calculated final one-time welding shrinkage is acting on the shell element whose thickness is same as it of plate, then deformation value must be underestimated. This research developed a methodology that total deformation after multi-pass welding can be analyzed by one time at shell element having original thickness of its plate. We use the SDB thermal distortion analysis method and verified by several experiment. The both experimental and analysis results showed good agreements.

  • This study investigated the method for obtaining 3-dimensional terrain information on inaccessable areas by evaluating geometric accuracy of the EOC pass image and scene image acquired from the KOMPSAT-1 satellite. For this purpose, the following four experiments were conducted to evaluate the accuracy of the KOMPSAT-1 EOC satellite data. 1) Calculation of ground coordinates by using ancillary data and image coordinates on Level 1R that were processed by the pre-processing system of KOMPSAT-1. 2) Calculation of 3-dimensional ground coordinates from the ground coordinates of stereo images calculated by using ancillary data, based on space intersections. 3) Execution of bundle adjustment by using GCP (Ground Control Point) extracted in a part of the stereo pass image (KOMPSAT-1 EOC, 1 scene size); and then, evaluation of the ground coordinates from the calculated exterior orientation. 4) Evaluation of accuracy by applying the exterior orientation calculated from 3) To the whole pass image.

  • Analysis of the contribution of each pass-by noise source to the overall pass-by noise is an important issue for reduction of pass-by noise. A technical approach for predicting tailpipe noise is used to identify the contribution of tailpipe noise to the pass-by noise in this study. Simulation program with a time domain engine modeling program called 'WAVE' and wave propagation theory of moving noise source are employed. Since the Doppler phenomenon causes a frequency shift during a pass-by noise test, the Doppler correction and time delay effects are incorporated into the estimation of tailpipe noise. The developed program can furnish an in-depth understanding of the effect of tailpipe to pass-by noise.

  • Multi-pass shape drawing is very important to produce steel profiles in round samples. In the current study, a process design system is developed for a multi-pass shape drawing. In general, the number of passes for a multi-pass shape drawing is 2 to 3 when the reduction ratio, drawing stress, and productivity are considered. Therefore, calculating the drawing stress and designing the intermediated die shapes are very important. In order to calculate the drawing stress, a shape drawing load prediction method is proposed using a general axisymmetric drawing load prediction model. An intermediate die shape design method is proposed using the initial and the final product shapes. Based on this analysis, a process design system is developed for multi-pass shape drawing for steel profiles. The system works with AutoCAD. The system was applied to design a shape drawing of a spline.

  • Multi-pass shape rolling is performed to produce long products of arbitrary cross-sectional shapes. In the past, the multi-pass shape rolling process has been designed by the trial and error method or the experience of experts based on the empirical approach. Particularly, the design of roll caliber in shape rolling is important to improve product quality and dimensional accuracy. In this paper, the caliber design and pass schedule of multi-pass shape rolling were proposed for manufacturing piston ring wire. In order to design roll caliber, major shape parameter and dimension was determined by analysis of various caliber design. FE-simulation was conducted to verify effectiveness of proposed process design. At first, forming simulation was performed to predict shape of the product. Then, fracture of the wire was evaluated by critical damage value using normalized Cockcroft-Latham criteria. The experiment was carried out and the results are within the allowable tolerance.
