  • A computer program which can differentiate compounds whose absorbance spectra are very similar was developed. The program. [SPECMAN PLUS], written in Pascal provides automated spectral comparison techniques, utilizing the values of Root Mean of Squares (RMS) of differences. This comparison routine of the program can deal with spectra of compounds different concentrations and different spectral recording resolutions. In addition, the program was designed applicable to any spectral data of digital form. The program was applied to the UV spectra of 13 pencillins and 5 cephalosporins, whose absorbance spectra are so similar. As a result, all compounds examined could be differentiated from each other.

  • Many distributed applications build overlays on top of the Internet. Several unsolved issues at the network layer can explain this trend to implement network services such as multicast, mobility, and security at the application layer. On one hand, overlays creating basic topologies are usually limited in flexibility and scalability. On the other hand, overlays creating complex topologies require some form of application level addressing, routing, and naming mechanisms. Our aim is to design an efficient and robust addressing, routing, and naming infrastructure for these complex overlays. Our only assumption is that they are deployed over the Internet topology. Applications that use our middleware will be relieved from managing their own overlay topologies. Our infrastructure is based on the separation of the naming and the addressing planes and provides a convergence plane for the current heterogeneous Internet environment. To implement this property, we have designed a scalable distributed k-resilient name to address binding system. This paper describes the design of our overlay infrastructure and presents performance results concerning its routing scalability, its path inflation efficiency and its resilience to network dynamics.

  • This paper is concerned with a computer-aided supporting system to a systematic check of mechanical drawings. The problems treated in this paper are limited to the checking of the omissions and mis-writings of dimensioning in the mechanical drawings made by a CAD system. A drawing check system has been made up on a personal computer with Basic and Pascal. The feasibility of the proposed drawing check system is confirmed for omissions and mis-writings of dimensioning in mechanical drawings.

  • Drawing pneumatic circuits by hand and searching for the error when the circuit is not properly constructed are very difficult. In this paper, a graphic simulation program for drawing and evaluating pneumatic circuit systems was developed. The porgram is menu-driven style and pneumatic circuit can be easily drawn by selecting the pneumatic components from the menus. Simulation of the motion of each pneumatic component and testing of whether the circuit is constructed properly are possible with the software. This program was written in Turbo Pascal and also used the Turbo Graphix Toolbox. The system hardware requires IBM PC, XT, AT or compatibles, and Hercules Card.

  • A data structure representing 3-D objects was designed for the personal computer. It is very simple to be used in the personal computers which have small memory and low speed. A homogeneous transformation for developing 3-D objects was derived. Each developing procedure consists of five transformations : one translational-three rotational-one translational. Developing a solid is a creative work. So the results of developing vary with the order of surfaces to be developed. One method to reduce the length of seam was considered. The programs used in this study were written in Pascal and Assembly and a modeller that generates 3-D primitives was included. This program is an interactive dual-screen system. While all the menus in Korean are displayed at the monochrome monitor, the development figures with projective views are drawn at the color monitor. The program has wide applications for plate works.

  • This paper deals with development of a Computer Aided Process Planning System based on knowledge base in addition to database for injection mold as a part of Computer Integrated Manufacturing System for injection mold manufacture. The prposed system consists of four modules such as manufacturing feature code generation module machine tool selection and sequencing module, operation and cutting tool selection mudule and standard time estimation module. The system is programmed by using Turbo Pascal on the IBM-PC/AT. The performance of the system is evaluated by using real problems and the test results indicate that the proposed system is a practical and efficient system.

  • This paper describes a near-optimal standard cell layout strategy which consists of three consecutives steps` partition, placement, and routing. In the partition step, a given network is torn apart into many subnetworks such that each subnetworks contains as many cells as possible with minimum interocnnections between subnetwork. In the placement step, the conventional string placement algorithm was modified. Also, bonding pads were placed such that their connections to the related cells are shortest. As a result for the tested example, the placement time was saved by 60% and the total routing lengths were saved by more than 20% and substantial improvements in the number of feed-through cell and the track density were obtained. The layout program is coded in PASCAL and implemented on a VAX 11-750/UNIX computer.

  • KAERI has developed a two-phase CFD code, CUPID, for a refined calculation of transient two-phase flows related to nuclear reactor thermal hydraulics, and its numerical models have been verified in previous studies. In this paper, the CUPID code is validated against experiments on the downcomer boiling and moderator flow in a Calandria vessel. Physical models relevant to the validation are discussed. Thereafter, multi-scale thermal hydraulic analyses using the CUPID code are introduced. At first, a component-scale calculation for the passive condensate cooling tank (PCCT) of the PASCAL experiment is linked to the CFD-scale calculation for local boiling heat transfer outside the heat exchanger tube. Next, the Rossendorf coolant mixing (ROCOM) test is analyzed by using the CUPID code, which is implicitly coupled with a system-scale code, MARS.

  • An automated classification and coding system for structure of injection mold is developed based on the statistical analysis and the critical evaluation of the results for the sample survey of 200 assembly drawings of injection mold. The proposed system is a mixed code system consisting of 15 digits and each digit consists of 10 numerical codes. An interactive computer program is developed by using TURBO PASCAL on IBM PC/AT compatible system. A case study is discussed to show the procedure and the function of the system. The results for applications of the system to real problems show that the system works well and is useful for design, manufacturing and management of injection mold.

  • This paper sums up all the different steps broached in this project : The NIR spectroscopy technique has been studied and implemented at CTP using a mobile spectrometer device and different optical materials. Methods, based on statistical data analysis (in particular PLS regressions), have been investigated. A laboratory "prototype" using these techniques and methods has been developed in order to control the recovered papers quality, in terms of humidity percentage and sample composition (paper, board, contaminants).
