  • There have recently been several studies investigating how to apply a privacy preserving technique to publish data. Differential privacy can protect personal information regardless of an attacker's background knowledge by adding probabilistic noise to the original data. To perform differentially private k-means clustering, the existing algorithm builds a differentially private histogram and performs the k-means clustering. Since it constructs an equi-width histogram without considering the distribution of data, there are many buckets to which noise should be added. We propose a k-means clustering algorithm using a quad-tree that captures the distribution of data by using a small number of buckets. Our experiments show that the proposed algorithm shows better performance than the existing algorithm.

  • This study investigates an event detection method with the aim of generating an event-focused news summary from a set of news articles on a certain event using a multi-document summarization technique. The event detection method first classifies news articles into the event related topic categories by employing a SVM classifier and then creates event clusters containing news articles on an event by a modified single pass clustering algorithm. The clustering algorithm applies a time penalty function as well as cluster partitioning to enhance the clustering performance. It was found that the event detection method proposed in this study showed a satisfactory performance in terms of both the F-measure and the detection cost.

  • The photodissociation dynamics of cyclopropyl bromide ($C_3H_5Br$) and cyclobutyl bromide ($C_4H_7Br$) at 234 nm was investigated. A two-dimensional photofragment ion-imaging technique coupled with a [2+1] resonanceenhanced multiphoton ionization scheme was utilized to obtain speed and angular distributions of the nascent $Br(^2P_{3/2})$ and $Br^*(^2P_{1/2})$ atoms. The recoil anisotropies for the Br and $Br^*$ channels were measured to be ${\beta}_{Br}=0.92{\pm}0.03$ and ${\beta}_{Br^*}=1.52{\pm}0.04$ for $C_3H_5Br$ and ${\beta}_{Br}=1.10{\pm}0.03$ and ${\beta}_{Br^*}=1.49{\pm}0.05$ for $C_4H_7Br$. The relative quantum yield for Br was found to be ${\Phi}_{Br}=0.13{\pm}0.03$ and for $C_3H_5Br$ and $C_4H_7Br$, respectively. The soft radical limit of the impulsive model adequately modeled the related energy partitioning. The nonadiabatic transition probability from the 3A' and 4A' potential energy surfaces was estimated and discussed.

  • The research related to testing pupils' achievement in the field of Measurement and Measure in initial teaching of geometry points to an insufficient adoption of the basic components of the length measurement concept among pupils. In order to discover the cause, we looked at the basic components on which the procedure of measuring length using a ruler is based, highlighted the possibilities of introducing the procedure in measuring length, and determined pupils' achievement during the procedure of measuring length using a ruler. The research sample consisted of 145 pupils, out of which 72 were the 2nd grade pupils and 73 were the 4th grade pupils. A descriptive method was applied in the research. The technique we used was testing, and for the statistical data processing we used a χ2 test. The results of the research show that, when drawing a straight line of a given length using a ruler, there is no statistical difference in achievement between the 2nd and 4th grade pupils, nor in the pupils' knowledge regarding drawing a ruler independently, while drawing a straight line of a given length using a "broken" ruler 4th grade pupils are statistically better. The results of the research indicate that pupils' achievement is better in doing standard tasks than in non-standard ones, given that the latter require conceptual knowledge. The components of the concept of length measurement using ruler have not been sufficiently developed yet, and these include: zero-point, partitioning a measured object in a series of consecutive measurement units and their iteration. We shed more light on the critical stage in the procedure of length measurement - the transition from non-standard to standard units and the formation of the length measurement scale. For further research, we propose to look at the formation of the concept of length measurement using the ruler through all its components and their inclusion in the mathematics curriculum, as well as examining the correlation of pupils' achievement in the procedure of measuring length with their achievement in measuring area (and volume).

  • In this paper, a trellis-coded 3-dimensional (3-D) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system is presented and its performance is analyzed. Here, a set-partitioning technique for trellis coding with respect to a 3-D signal constellation is also presented. We show theoretically that the proposed system, which exploits a trellis coding scheme with recursive systematic convolutional codes (RSC) of code rate R = 1/3 and 2/3, can improve symbol error rate (SER) up to 7.8 dB as compared with the uncoded OFDM system in an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. Computer simulation confirms that the theoretical analysis of the proposed system is very accurate. It is, therefore, considered that the proposed trellis-coded 3-D OFDM system is well suited for the high quality digital transmission system without increase in the available bandwidth.

  • In this work, we propose a novel bit allocation method that is to minimize overall distortions subject ot the bit rate constraint. We partition the original bitallocation problem into 'macroblock level bit allocation' problems that can be solved by conventional Lagrangian mutiplier methods and a 'frame level bit allocation' problem. To tackle the frame level problem, 'two-phase optimization' algorithm is used with iter-frame dependency model. While the existing approaches are almost impossible to find the macroblock-unit result for the moving picture coding system due to high computational complexity, the proposed algorithm can drastically reduce the computational loads by the problem partitioning and can obtain the result close to the optimal solution. Because the optimally allocated results can be used as a benchmark for bit allocation methods, the upper performance limit, or a basis for approximation method development, we expect that the proposed algorithm can be very useful for the bit allocation related works.

  • In this paper, new architectures and comprehensive design methodologies of Genetic Algorithms(GAs) based Genetically optimized Neurofuzzy Networks(GoNFN) are introduced, and a series of numeric experiments are carried out. The proposed GoNFN is based on the rule-based Neurofuzzy Networks(NFN) with the extended structure of the premise and the consequence parts of fuzzy rules being formed within the networks. The premise part of the fuzzy rules are designed by using space partitioning in terms of fuzzy sets defined in individual variables. In the consequence part of the fuzzy rules, three different forms of the regression polynomials such as constant, linear and quadratic are taken into consideration. The structure and parameters of the proposed GoNFN are optimized by GAs. GAs being a global optimization technique determines optimal parameters in a vast search space. But it cannot effectively avoid a large amount of time-consuming iteration because GAs finds optimal parameters by using a given space. To alleviate the problems, the dynamic search-based GAs is introduced to lead to rapidly optimal convergence over a limited region or a boundary condition. In a nutshell, the objective of this study is to develop a general design methodology o GAs-based GoNFN modeling, come up a logic-based structure of such model and propose a comprehensive evolutionary development environment in which the optimization of the model can be efficiently carried out both at the structural as well as parametric level for overall optimization by utilizing the separate or consecutive tuning technology. To evaluate the performance of the proposed GoNFN, the models are experimented with the use of several representative numerical examples.

  • Selectivity estimation for spatial query is very important process used in finding the most efficient execution plan. Many works have been performed to estimate accurate selectivity. Although they deal with some problems such as false-count, multi-count, they can not get such effects in little memory space. Therefore, we propose a new technique called MW Histogram which is able to compress summary data and get reasonable results and has a flexible structure to react dynamic update. Our method is based on two techniques : (a) MinSkew partitioning algorithm which deal with skewed spatial datasets efficiently (b) Wavelet transformation which compression effect is proven. The experimental results showed that the MW Histogram which the buckets and wavelet coefficients ratio is 0.3 is lower relative error than MinSkew Histogram about 5%-20% queries, demonstrates that MW histogram gets a good selectivity in little memory.

  • Precipitation evapotranspiration and runoff are three key parameters of regional water balance. Problems exist in the traditional methods for calculating such factors , such as explaining of the geographic rationality of spatial interpolating methods and lacking of enough observation stations in many important area for bad natural conditions. With the development of modern spatial info-techniques, new efficient shifts arose for traditional studies. Guided by theories on energy flow and materials exchange within Soil-Atmosphere-Plant Continuant (SPAC), retrieval models of key hydrological parameters were established in the Yellow River basin using CMS-5 and FengYun-2 meteorological satellite data. Precipitation and evapotranspiration were then estimated: (1) Estimating tile amount of solar energy that is absorbed by the ground with surface reflectivity, which is measured in the visible wavelength band (VIS): (2) Assessing the partitioning of the absorbed energy between sensible and latent heat with the surface temperature, which was measured in the thermal infrared band (TIR), the latent heat representing the evapotranspiration of water; (3) Clouds are identified and cloud top levels are classified using both VIS and TIR data. Hereafter precipitation will be calculated pixel by pixel with retrieval model. Daily results are first obtained, which are then processed to decade, monthly and yearly products. Precipitation model has been has been and tested with ground truth data; meanwhile, the evapotranspiration result has been verified with Large Aperture Scintillometry (LAS) presented by Wageningen University of the Netherlands. Further studies may concentrate on the application of models, i.e., establish a hydrological model of the Yellow river basin to make the accurate estimation of river volume and even monitor the whole hydrological progress.

  • In this paper, we implement viewport dependent tile partitioning for high quality 360 video transmission and rendering method to present a HMD (Head Mounted Display) screen for 360 video quality evaluation. As a method for high-quality video transmission based on a user's viewport, this paper introduces MCTS (Motion Constrained Tile Sets) technique for solving the motion reference problem and EIS (Extraction Information Sets) SEI including pre-configured tile information, and extractor that extracts tiles. In addition, it explains tile extraction method based on user's viewport and implementation contents of the method of expressing on an HMD. Therefore, if 360 video is transferred by the proposed implementation which only transfers video from the user viewport area, it is possible to express higher quality video with lower bandwidth while avoiding unnecessary image transmission.
