ON PARTITION CONGRUENCES FOR OVERCUBIC PARTITION PAIRS

  • In this note, we investigate partition congruences for a certain type of partition function, which is named as the overcubic partition pairs in light of the literature. Let $\bar{cp}(n)$ be the number of overcubic partition pairs. Then we will prove the following congruences: $$\bar{cp}(8n+7){\equiv}0(mod\;64)\;and\;\bar{cp}(9m+3){\equiv}0(mod\;3)$$.

  • A geometric construction of an exact algebraic formula for graded partition functions, of which a special one is the classical unrestricted partition function p(n), from a diophantine point of view is presented. Moreover, the involved process allows us to compute the value of a graded partition function in an inductive manner with a geometrically built-in self-error-checking ability at each step for correctness of the computed values of the partition function under consideration.

  • In this paper, we realize the algebra of ${\mathbb{Z}}_2$ relations, signed partition algebras and partition algebras as tabular algebras and prove the cellularity of these algebras using the method of [2]. Using the results of Graham and Lehrer in [1], we give the modular representations of the algebra of ${\mathbb{Z}}_2$-relations, signed partition algebras and partition algebras.

  • Working spaces in the construction site are much more complicated than completed spaces in the building. There are many researches focus on partition of building spaces. However, few discussed partition sequencing in building construction sites. Space syntax is a set of techniques for analyzing spatial configurations. It has become a useful tool in a variety of researches. Partition sequencing of working spaces should be related to the working direction. However, with convex space and axial line, the partition sequencing became unrelated to the working direction. When critical space is blocked, the partition sequencing with axial line will be changed. It is significant to reveal the impact of the entire spatial structure when some of the working spaces are blocked. This paper discussed the improved partition sequencing theory and highlighted the importance of critical space and analyzed the spatial structure of working space. A real case project was demonstrated in this paper.

Effects of Inclination of Enclosure and Partition on Natural Convective Heat Transfer in a Partitioned Enclosure (격판을 가진 밀폐공간내의 자연대류 열전달에 공간 및 격판의 경사가 미치는 영향)

  • The effects of the inclination of enclosure and partition on natural convective flow and heat transfer were investigated numerically. The enclosure was composed of the lower hot and the upper cold horizontal walls and the adiabatic vertical walls, and a partition was positioned perpendicularly at the mid-height of one vertical insulated wall. The governing equations are solved by using the finite element method with Galerkin method. The computations were performed with the variations of the partition length and Rayleigh number based on the temperature difference between two horizontal walls and the enclosure height with water(Pr=4.95). The effects of the inclination angle of enclosure and partition on the heat transfer within an enclosure were also studied. As the results, the increase of the inclination angle of enclosure rapidly raised the heat transfer rate, while the inclination angle for the maximum Nusselt number was retarded with the increase of the partition length and the decrease of the heat transfer rate became larger in proportion to the increase of the partition length. The Nusselt number obtained by the inclination of partition was smaller than that of the inclination of enclosure. However, the difference of the heat transfer rates was considerably decreased at the longer partition lengths and the trends for the variation of the average Nusselt number were more similar with that of the inclination of enclosure. The upward oriented partition increases the convective heat transfer distinctly in contrast to that of the inclination of enclosure as the partition length increases.

  • Natural convective flow and heat transfer in a two-dimensional square enclosure fitted with a horizontal partition are investigated numerically. The enclosure was composed of the lower hot and the upper cold horizontal walls and the adiabatic vertical walls, and a partition was situated perpendicularly at the one vertical insulated wall. The governing equations are solved by using the finite element method with Galerkin method. The computations were carried out with the variations of length, position and thermal conductivity of the partition, and Rayleigh number based on the temperature difference between two horizontal walls and the enclosure height with water(Pr=4.95). As the results, an oscillatory motion of natural convection is resulted in a sudden rise of overall heat transfer, but the increase of length of partition is significantly restrained the increase of Nusselt number. The maximum heat transfer was shown just before the transition of the direction of oscillating flow. An oscillatory motion of flow was perfectly shown the stability with the decrease of the length of partition and Rayleigh number. Also, the heat transfer was raised with the increase of the thermal conductivity in proportion to the increase of the length of partition. The stability and oscillation of flow are affected by the position of partition.

  • In this study, a computer simulation of the three types of air distribution systems, open type system, aisle partition system and aisle containment system, to evaluate the applicability of the aisle partition system on a data center server room. The variables of the simulation were the height and location of the partition fixed on the top server rack. The energy efficiency of the air distribution systems were confirmed to be excellent in the order of the aisle containment system, aisle partition system, and open type system. In the cold aisle partition system, the height of the partition that can be effective in saving cooling energy by obstructing sufficient air recirculation was found to be more than 0.9m. In the hot aisle partition system, the height of the partition was found to be more than 0.8m.

  • To identify characterization of a simple extension chamber that have the two internal partition, produce the curve to estimate the transmission loss without the computer analysis. For helpful for internal optimum design, identify the characteristic of internal partition on transmission loss. Made estimated transmission loss curve by function of relationship of internal partition and transmission. Check the similarity of predicted transmission loss and analysis transmission loss. Usage of the predicted transmission loss made by relationship of internal partition and transmission loss is good information to place the internal partition so as to maximize the transmission loss on target frequency at optimal design on muffler.

  • This paper presents a new heuristic algorithm for the machine cell(MC) formation problem. MC formation problem is represented as an unbalanced k-way network partition and the proposed algorithm uses four stage-approach to solve the problem. Four stages are natural sub-network formation, determination of intial vertexes for each sub-network, determination of initial partition, and improvement of initial partition. Results of experiments show that the suggested algorithm provides near optimal solutions within very short computational time.
