A Theoretical Investigation of Roll-Off Cleanliness for Hydraulic System and Application to a Tractor (유압시스템 롤-오프 청정도의 이론적 고찰 및 트랙터에의 응용)

  • This study theoretically investigated the roll-off cleanliness operation to eliminate the built-in contaminants which are primarily the result of manufacturing and assembly procedures first. A rigorous analytical examination of the cleaning process associated with hydraulic systems was performed by developing the general filtration process equations. The sloughing process by which built-in contaminant is entrained in the system fluid was examined during the development of a general analytical expression for sloughing rate. This sloughing rate expression in conjunction with the filtration process equations have lead to a relationship rate expression in conjunction with the filtration process equations have lead to a relationship which describes the flushing and clean-up operation for the hydraulic systems. The effects of the primary roll-off cleanliness factors was discussed and illustrated on the figures. Then, the analytical results was shown to be usefully applied into the design of roll-off flushing equipment for the hydraulic system of a tractor.

Performance Evaluation of an Automotive Fuel Filter by Multi-Pass Filtration Test (다순환 여과시험에 의한 자동차용 연료필터의 성능 평가)

  • Filtration performance of an automotive fuel filter was evaluated based on the theory of Beta ratio. This study also introduced the fuel components' contamination performance test stand incorporating the multi-pass filtration test circuit. The theoretical basis of multi-pass test and test procedure were described in detail. The specification of commercial fuel filter currently available was just the maximum pressure drop across the filter assembly and the holding capacity of contaminants. However, test results revealed that the fuel filter tested could not maintain consistent Beta ratio, that is filtration efficiency, although it had the holding capacity close to the specification. Hence the Beta ratio should be specified in service life. The results also showed that filtration system model should be refined including desorption ratio to estimate the variable Beta ratio in the test.

  • We propose a fabrication process of a 3-electrode type reflective display and ascertain the realized color panel. The first design is proceeded with basis on Ti electrode for fast panel fabrication, easy align process, and high reflection of a white image. To observe the particle movement at the lower electrodes and optimize the space between electrodes, we design the second patterns, from which we establish a fabrication process with the mixing of electronic ink, loading of this ink, electronic ink assembly, driving, and packaging. After aging process, we ascertain a normally driving panel with black, white, and blue color.

  • This study presents the comparative filtration performance evaluation of automotive fuel filters based on the theory of Beta ratio. For the experiments, the fuel component's test stand incorporating the multi-pass filtration test circuit was developed. A mathematical description of filtration process in general was derived. And the theoretical basis of multi-pass test and the test procedure were described in detail. Experimental results revealed that domestic fuel filter tested could not maintain consistent Beta ratio, that is filtration efficiency, although it had the holding capacity of contaminants close to the specification at maximum pressure drop across the filter assembly.   • $^{195}Pt$ NMR measurements were performed to deduce the variation of local density of states at the Fermi energy ($E_F$-LDOS) at the surface of carbonsupported Pt catalysts due to the addition of $Nafion^{(R)}$ ionomer in the metalelectrode-assembly for fuel cells. The results showed that the EF-LDOS at the surface of Pt particles was enhanced by the addition of $Nafion^{(R)}$ ionomers whereas it was uninfluenced in the inner (bulk) part of the Pt particles. This suggests that the effects of ionomers on the electronic states of the Pt particle surface are related to the electrochemical activity of the catalysts.

  • The effect of the average particle size and shape of silver nanoparticles for the transparent conductive film (TCF) was studied. Optical and electrical properties of silver conductive lines coated on the polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film was also measured. Silver nanoparticles produced by Ag-CM, Ag-ME, Ag-EE methods showed an excellent conductivity compared to those produced by Ag-EB, Ag-CR and Ag-PL methods, but a little difference in the transparency. In the case of the former three silver nanoparticles, the average particle size was about 80 nm or less and the size was uniform. For the latter case, the severe agglomeration phenomena of particles was observed and the average particle size was 100 nm or more. This result was consistent with the result of the uniformity of the pattern shape and thickness on conductive line patterns observed by SEM. Therefore, it was confirmed that the electrical characteristics could be obtained when the average particle size of silver nanoparticles is smaller and the uniformity of the particles is maintained.

  • The purpose of this study is to find the optimum conditions for manufacturing titanium dioxide using a hybrid self-assembly forming method, to confirm the shape, properties and synergy effect of UV protection for hybrid titanium dioxide. Hybrid titanium dioxide, manufactured by forming self-assembly of different sizes consisting of two kinds of titanium dioxides, has micro titanium dioxide (250nm~300nm) for support material, Nano titanium dioxide (20~30nm) for surface material, coating support material. Adjustment experiments of $AlCl_3$ concentration and both titanium dioxide ratio were conducted to find the optimized conditions for the surface coating of titanium dioxide striking a negative charge, a sample made of the optimized process was confirmed through an optical analysis, particle size analysis, and potentiometric analysis. The SPF in-vitro value of the cosmetics samples containing hybrid titanium dioxide showed 15~30% higher levels than the cosmetics samples containing both titanium dioxides mixture.

Molecular Linker Enhanced Assembly of CdSe/ZnS Core-Shell Quantum Dots (분자 끈을 활용한 CdSe/ZnS 양자 점의 향상된 배열)

  • QDs-LEDs(quantum dot light emitting device) should contain well-organized arrays of QDs on an electron transport layer. Thin films of CdSe/ZnS core-shell QDs were successfully fabricated on $TiO_2$ substrates by using PDMS stamp and micro contact printing method. 2-Carboxyethylphosphonic acid(CAPO) and 1,6-hexanedithiol(HDT) were employed as molecular linkers in assembling CdSe/ZnS core-shell QDs with high-density and uniform array. The CAPO increased the binding strength between the QDs and the substrates, and the HDT induced the strong inter-particle attractions of assembled QDs. The assembling properties of QDs thin films were characterized by SEM, AFM, optical microscope and photoluminescence spectroscope(PL).

Investigating Heavy Water Zero Power Reactors with a New Core Configuration Based on Experiment and Calculation Results

  • The heavy water zero power reactor (HWZPR), which is a critical assembly with a maximum power of 100 W, can be used in different lattice pitches. The last change of core configuration was from a lattice pitch of 18-20 cm. Based on regulations, prior to the first operation of the reactor, a new core was simulated with MCNP (Monte Carlo N-Particle)-4C and WIMS (Winfrith Improved Multigroup Scheme)-CITATON codes. To investigate the criticality of this core, the effective multiplication factor ($K_{eff}$) versus heavy water level, and the critical water level were calculated. Then, for safety considerations, the reactivity worth of $D_2O$, the reactivity worth of safety and control rods, and temperature reactivity coefficients for the fuel and the moderator, were calculated. The results show that the relevant criteria in the safety analysis report were satisfied in the new core. Therefore, with the permission of the reactor safety committee, the first criticality operation was conducted, and important physical parameters were measured experimentally. The results were compared with the corresponding values in the original core.

Synthesis of Si-CNT-C Composites and Their Application to Lithium Ion Battery (실리콘-탄소나노튜브-탄소 복합체 제조 및 리튬이온전지 응용)

  • Silicon has attracted extensive attention due to its high theoretical capacity, low discharge potential and non-toxicity as anode material for lithium ion batteries. In this study, Si-CNT-C composites were fabricated for use as a high-efficiency anode material in a lithium ion battery. Aerosol self-assembly and post-heat treatment processes were employed to fabricate the composites. The morphology of the Si-CNT-C composites was spherical and an average particle size was $2.72{\mu}m$. The size of the composite increased as concentration of Si and CNT increased in the precursor solution. In the Si-CNT-C composites, CNT and C carbonized from glucose were attached to the surface of Si particles. Electrochemical measurement showed that the cycle performance of Si-CNT-C composites was better than that of silicon particles.
