We propose semi-analytic models for the electron momentum distribution in weak shocks that accounts for both in situ acceleration and reacceleration through diffusive shock acceleration (DSA). In the former case, a small fraction of incoming electrons is assumed to be reflected at the shock ramp and pre-accelerated to the so-called injection momentum, pinj, above which particles can diffuse across the shock transition and participate in the DSA process. This leads to the DSA power-law distribution extending from the smallest momentum of reflected electrons, pref, all the way to the cutoff momentum, peq, constrained by radiative cooling. In the latter case, fossil electrons, specified by a power-law spectrum with a cutoff, are assumed to be re-accelerated from pref up to peq via DSA. We show that, in the in situ acceleration model, the amplitude of radio synchrotron emission depends strongly on the shock Mach number, whereas it varies rather weakly in the re-acceleration model.
In particle-based fluid simulation, applying sudden power to particle raise unnatural flow when wave is breaking. To solve this problem, we have used an linear interpolation technique that interpolate between fluid particle by subdividing the time interval in the previous work. Acceleration vector of the particle with increased pressure in boundary could change smoothly. However, particle looks like flow with viscosity because the number of the minimum samples to interpolate increases. We propose an weighted-interpolation technique to represent the realistic movement of fluid. it is accumulating that has added and assigned different weights to the previous acceleration vector and current one repeatedly. weighted-interpolation technique using less minium samples to flow than linear interpolation, so it can solve the problem which particle looks like flow with viscosity.
The intracluster medium (ICM) is expected to experience on average about three passages of weak shocks with low sonic Mach numbers, M ≲ 3, during the formation of galaxy clusters. Both protons and electrons could be accelerated to become high energy cosmic rays (CRs) at such ICM shocks via diffusive shock acceleration (DSA). We examine the effects of DSA by multiple shocks on the spectrum of accelerated CRs by including in situ injection/acceleration at each shock, followed by repeated re-acceleration at successive shocks in the test-particle regime. For simplicity, the accelerated particles are assumed to undergo adiabatic decompression without energy loss and escape from the system, before they encounter subsequent shocks. We show that in general the CR spectrum is flattened by multiple shock passages, compared to a single episode of DSA, and that the acceleration efficiency increases with successive shock passages. However, the decompression due to the expansion of shocks into the cluster outskirts may reduce the amplification and flattening of the CR spectrum by multiple shock passages. The final CR spectrum behind the last shock is determined by the accumulated effects of repeated re-acceleration by all previous shocks, but it is relatively insensitive to the ordering of the shock Mach numbers. Thus multiple passages of shocks may cause the slope of the CR spectrum to deviate from the canonical DSA power-law slope of the current shock.
We calculate the probability to form giant radio halos (${\~}$ 1 Mpc size) as a function of the mass of the host clusters by using a Statistical Magneto-Turbulent Model (Cassano & Brunetti, these proceedings). We show that the expectations of this model are in good agreement with the observations for viable values of the parameters. In particular, the abrupt increase of the probability to find radio halos in the more massive galaxy clusters ($M {\ge} 2{\times}10^{15} M_{\bigodot}$) can be well reproduced. We calculate the evolution with redshift of such a probability and find that giant radio halos can be powered by particle acceleration due to MHD turbulence up to z${\~}$0.5 in a ACDM cosmology. Finally, we calculate the expected Luminosity Functions of radio halos (RHLFs). At variance with previous studies, the shape of our RHLFs is characterized by the presence of a cut-off at low synchrotron powers which reflects the inefficiency of particle acceleration in the case of less massive galaxy clusters.

The burning characteristics of interacting coal particles in a convective flow are numerically investigated at various Reynolds numbers. The transient combustion of 2-dimensionally arranged particles, both the fixed particle distances of 5 radii to 20 radii horizontally and 4 radii to 24 radii vertically, is studied. The results obtained from the present numerical analysis indicate that the transient flame configuration and retardation of particle temperature augmentation with the horizontal or vertical particle spacing substantially influence devolatilization process and carbon conversion ratio of interacting particles. Volatile release and carbon conversion ratio of the second particle with decreasing horizontal and vertical particle spacing decrease gradually, whereas those of the first particle with decreasing vertical particle spacing increase due to flow acceleration. When the vertical particle spacing is smaller than $6R_0$, volatile release and carbon conversion ratio of the second particle decrease due to reduction of flame penetration depth and interference of oxygen diffusion by the first particle.
Among the many techniques available to synthesis metal matrix composites, liquid phase processing, especially, conventional casting process such as stir-casting process is particularly attractive for their simplicity, economy and flexibility, In the present study, A356/20%SiCp composites were fabricated by gas-particle co-injection method. The gas-particle co-injection method is a modified stir-casting method and the corporation of particle could be improved by acceleration of particles due to rotation of impeller and gas purging. The microstructures and mechanical properties such as tensile properties and resistance to wear of fabricated materials were examined. Further, the particle injection mechanism in gas-particle co-injection method was discussed.

A micro particle manipulator, which is devised for trapping particles at fixed positions by negative dielectrophoretic force (DEP force), has been fabricated and experimented. It is composed of square type electrode arrays fabricated by nickel electroplating with the height of 28 ${\mu}m$. To improve the quality of electroplated nickel electrodes, plating conditions have been optimized. Micro particles used in this study are polystyrene spheres and their to the specific position and trapped. The DEP force along the moving path of the particles has been estimated by the motion equation of a single particle. The displacement of a particle with an elapsed time was measured using a high-speed camera (1000 frames/sec). The velocity and acceleration of the particle were calculated from the measured data. The DEP force acting on the particle was estimated.
Magnetic reconnection is a fundamental process occurring in a wide range of astrophysical, heliospheric and laboratory plasmas. This process alters magnetic topology and triggers rapid conversion of magnetic energy into thermal heating and nonthermal particle acceleration. Efforts to understand the physics of magnetic reconnection have been made across multiple disciplines using remote observations of solar flares and in-situ measurements of geomagnetic storms and substorms as well as laboratory and numerical experiments. This review focuses on the progress achieved with solar flare observations in which most reconnection-related signatures could be resolved in both space and time. The emphasis is on various observable emission features in the low solar atmosphere which manifest the coronal magnetic reconnection because these two regions are magnetically connected to each other. The research and application perspectives of solar magnetic reconnection are briefly discussed and compared with those in other plasma environments.
I discuss implications of gamma-ray emission from blazars based on electron acceleration by shock waves in a relativistic jet. The number spectrum of electrons turns out to be a broken power law; while at low energies the power law index has a universal value of 2, at high energies it steepens to an index of 3 because of strong radiative cooling. This spectrum can basically reproduce the observed spectral break between X-rays and gamma-rays. I show that energetics of relativistic jets can be well explained by this model. I estimate physical quantities of the relativistic jets by comparing the prediction with observations. The results show that the jets are particle dominated and are comprised of electron-positron pairs. A connection between gamma-ray emission and radiation drag is also discussed.

Recently, the biolistic process is emerging as an effective needle-free drug delivery technique to transfer adequate concentrations of pharmacologic agents to soft living tissues with minimum side effects. We have started developing an effective method for delivering drug coated particles using laser ablation. A thin metal foil with deposited micro-particles on one side is irradiated with laser beam on the opposite side so that a shock wave is generated. This shock wave travels through the foil and is reflected, which causes and instantaneous deformation of the foil. Due to such a sudden deformation, the micro-particles are ejected at a very high speed. Here we present the experimental results of direct and confined laser ablation, which correspond to the initial stage of the whole experiment.
