This study, through biomechanical analysis, conducts a risk assessment of injury occurrence in ballet dancers while they perform running and jumping movements. The participants were nine female collegiate students majoring in ballet(age: $20.89{\pm}1.17years$; height: $160.89{\pm}7.01cm$; mass: $48.89{\pm}3.26$). Descriptive data were expressed as $mean{\pm}standard$ deviation(SD) for all variables. An independent t-test was conducted to determine how the following variables differed: duration time, position of the center of gravity, angle of the hip, torque of the hip, and muscle activity. All comparisons were made at the p<0.05 significance level. The results show that the jump time was two times longer than the run time in the duration time. The jump length was also longer than the run. The angle of the hip and the torque at the hip were higher in the right. The vastus medialis muscle was most frequently used. These findings demonstrate that participants' jumps may require more biomechanical variables for performance of better and more correct $jet{\acute{e}}$.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of high-heels (HH) modification on metatarsal stress in female workers. Method: Seven females who work in clothing stores ($heights=160.4{\pm}3.9cm$; $weights=47.4{\pm}4.1kg$; $age=31.3{\pm}11.1yrs$; $HH\;wear\;career=8{\pm}6.5yrs$) wore two types of HH (original and modified). The modified HH had been grooved with 1.5 cm radius and 0.2 cm depth around the first metatarsal area inside of the shoes using the modified shoe-last. Participants were asked to walk for 15 minutes on a treadmill and to stand for 10 minutes with original and modified HH, respectively. Kinetics data were collected by the F-scan in-shoe system. After each test, participants were asked to rate their perceived exertion using the Borg's 15-grade RPE scale and interviewed about their feeling of HH. Nonparametric Wilcoxon signed-rank test and effect size (Cohen's d) were used to determine the difference of the variables of interest between the original and modified HH. Results: In the present study, modified HH of the peak contact pressure of 1st metatarsal (PCP) left, PCP right, pressure time integral (PTI) left, peak pressure gradient (PPG) left during standing and PPG right during walking are greater than original HH. And even it didn't show statistically significant, the average in all pressure values of modified HH showed bigger than original HH. It surmised to be related to awkward with modified HH. Even though they said to feel the comfortable cause of big space inside of HH in the interview, they seemed to be not enough time to adapt with new HH. So their walking and standing postures were unstable. Conclusion: Modified the fore-medial part of HH can reduce the stress in the first metatarsal head and big toe area during standing and walking.
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of an 8-week closed kinetic chain typed Reformer and Chair Pilates exercise on static and dynamic lower limb alignment for healthy female adults. Method: Ten healthy young female adults without musculoskeletal injury history in last 6 months (Age: 29.3 ± 3.5 yrs., Height: 165 ± 3.4 cm, Body mass: 58.2 ± 5.4 kg) participated in this study. All participants asked to join the 8-week closed kinetic chain typed Reformer and Chair Pilates exercise, and the program was conducted for 60 minutes twice a week. Participants were asked to be measure a static Q-angle and performed free squat one week before and after the program. A 3-D motion analysis with 8 infrared cameras and 5 channels of EMG was executed in this study. The effectiveness of the training was evaluated by paired t-test, and the significance level was set at .05. Results: A significantly decreased in internal rotation angles was found at hip joint during free squat after the training. Also, significantly decreased in lateral rotation angles were found at knee and ankle joint during free squat after training. Finally, significantly decreased in muscle activations were found at adductor longus and peroneus longus during free squat after training. Conclusion: From results of our study, it is concluded that an 8-week closed kinetic chain typed Pilates exercise positively effect on lower limb alignment during dynamic movement.
Kinematic and kinetic analysis has been performed for Soft Golf swings utilizing realistic three dimensional computer simulations based on three dimensional motion tracking data. Soft Golf is a newly developed recreational sport in South Korea aimed to become a safe and easy-to-learn sport for all ages. The advantage of Soft Golf stems from lighter weight of the club and much larger area of the sweet spot. This paper tries to look into kinematic and kinetic aspects of soft golf swings compared to regular golf swing and find the advantages of lighter Soft Golf clubs. For this purpose, swing motions of older aged participants were captured and kinematic analysis was performed for various kinematic parameters such as club head velocity, joint angular velocity, and joint range of motions as a pilot study. Kinetic analysis was performed by applying kinematic data to computer simulation models constructed from anthropometric database and the measurements from the participants. The simulations were solved using multi-body dynamics solver. Firstly, the kinematic parameters such as joint angles were obtained by solving inverse dynamics problem based on motion tracking data. Secondly, the kinetic parameters such as joint torques were obtained by solving control dynamics problem of making joint torque to follow pre-defined joint angle data. The results showed that mechanical loadings to major joints were reduced with lighter Soft Golf club.
Objective: The incidence rate of elbow ulnar collateral ligament injuries is dependent on the throwing speed or pitching type, especially in adolescent baseball players. However, mixed results have been reported due to a lack of controlled biomechanical analysis. Thus, the purpose of this study was to investigate the biomechanical analysis of the elbow in relation to throwing speed and pitching type. Method: Four overhead type high-school baseball players were recruited for this study. The participants were asked to throw balls with different types of pitch and speed. While the throwing speeds were measured, each pitching moment of the elbow was recorded. Descriptive statistics, frequency analysis, mean comparison analysis, and Pearson's correlation analysis were performed in order to examine differences in peak varus and valgus moment during pitching motion in the elbow in all throwing speed and pitching types. Results: There was no significant difference in physical characteristics, throwing speed, and momentum variability among all players. The mean varus moments were 44.38±1.55 Nm, 48.83±1.66 Nm, and 48.94±0.95 Nm, and the moment gaps between varus and valgus were 7.36±3.25 Nm, 7.44±2.02 Nm, and 7.36±2.62 Nm in fastball, curveball, and slider ball, respectively. The varus moment was higher in the curved and slider balls than in the fastballs, and there was no significant differences between the varus moments regarding the pitching type. However, the increase in valgus moment and decrease in moment gap according to throwing speed was significantly increased in the slider ball (r=0.718 and -0.591, respectively). Conclusion: The possibility of elbow injury caused by the valgus moment or moment gapincreases more rapidly in slider balls as the speed increases. Based on our results, appropriate pitching guidelines should be suggested to prevent ulnarligament injuries, especially in adolescent baseball players.
Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of a body alignment correction program on asymmetrically developed squash players. Method : 30 experienced squash players who showed asymmetric body development, after evaluation of moire topography contour line shape, were involved in the experiment. All of them were right-handed and had more than five years of experience playing squash. Variables of body composition, moire topography and EMG were statistically compared between pre- and post- application of the 12-week body alignment correction program. The program consisted of 10-minute, left-handed forehand and backhand drive movements and 36 minutes performing 12 different yoga postures. Results : First, the body alignment correction program showed significant effects on the total weight, body fat percentage, and body mass index of the participants. Second, a decrease of right side inclined angles and an increase of left side inclined angles might result in a higher left-right symmetry rate and a better left-right balance; however the data was not statistically significant. Third, the EMG left-right deviation of erector spinae and latissimus decreased and the erector spinae muscle was thought to be more essential for vertebral movement and left-right asymmetry correction. Conclusion : A body alignment correction program, including yoga and opposite side exercises, could reduce left-right asymmetry.

This study was to analyze the Physical Activity Therapy Programs (PATPs) in U rban-rural region before and after COVID-19 in order to suggest a way of activating program. The subjects were the 43 PATPs performed in 4 Community Health Centers of Gimcheon, Jeongeup, and Pyeongtaek. The basic data was collected by official documents, expenditure budget, the homepage of the centers, national information disclosure portal, telephone interview, and e-mail with the person in charge of the programs. All the data were classified to the administrative districts, the health-related fitness variables, and the life cycles. The American College Sports Medicine Guidelines were used to evaluate the PATPs. As a results, the number of the PATPs was too small compared to the population of the regions. Also, the PATPs were not considered to the characteristics of participants such as Life-Cycle and regional facilities so on. The organization and management of the PATPs were principally deficient in improving health-related fitness variables. In 2020 as the period of COVID-19 pandemic, the number of programs and participants with face-to-face PATPs was significantlry decreased compared to 2019, while that was increased with non-face-to-face PATPs. In conclusion, PATPs should be increased and operated in accordance with scientific exercise prescription guidelines. Also, the programs should be considered with the proportion and characteristics of Life-Cycle population. Further, the various with non-face-to-face PATPs should be developed and screened with based on scientific data for post-corona virus pandemic. Further, non-face-to-face PATPs programs should include a kind of practical way to promote the individual physical activity.

This study is to investigate the effects of sensation seeking propensity of sports participants on the social support and exercise obsession. In order to achieve the objective of this study was to collect data to target the 250 people who regularly participate in sport in Seoul. The data collected by utilizing SPSS WIN 18.0 and AMOS 18.0 statistical reliability and to perform confirmatory factor analysis, a multivariate analysis, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, the following results were obtained. As a result of the analysis, First, there were statistically significant differences among the variables according to demographic characteristics. Second, there was a statistically or negatively related relationship among the measured variables. Third, the sensory pursuit propensity had a statistically significant effect on social support and exercise obsession. Finally, social support had a statistically significant effect on exercise obsession.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of 12 weeks of circuit training on inflammatory markers, blood lipids, and body composition of obese middle-aged women. Methods : Twenty-four obese women were randomly divided into three groups (circuit exercise training, CT; aerobic exercise training, AT; resistance exercise training, RT). All the subjects participated in the exercise program for 60 minutes, 3 times a week for 12 weeks. Results : Significant differences found in the participants pre-and post exercise training C-reactive protein (CRP), fibrinogen, and adiponectin levels. The CT participants experience an expected increase in their adiponectin levels. Significantly improved blood TC, LDL-C, HDL-C, and TG levels were found after 12 weeks of exercise. The AT and CT groups showed greater improvements in their HDL-C, LDL-C, and TG levels than the RT group. Significant differences were found in the participants pre-and post-exercise training body weight, body fat percentage, and body mass index (BMI). Conclusion : The CT participants body fat percentages decreased more than the RT group's percentages. In conclusion, obese women who completed 12 weeks of circuit exercise training (aerobics + resistance exercise) had significant improvements in their inflammatory markers, blood lipids, and body fat percentage.

The purpose of this study was to investigate self-esteem item goodness-of-fit in sports talented children with socio-psychological aspect, which may be a basis of developing global sports leaders. Fifty children who were selected by 2010 sports talent identification program at Korea National Sport University participated in this study. All participants were asked to answer the questionnaire using Rogenberg (1965) self-esteem scale. Total 8 questions were used with 4 point Likert scale and high point stands for higher self-esteem status. Reliability of Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ was.785 in this study. Frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, and reliability analysis were conducted with SPSS 18.0. WINSTEPS 3.70 (Linacre, 2010) was used for calculating item goodness-of-fit and subject reliability, scale propriety, item goodness-of-fit and item level of difficulty, and level of difficulty were calculated. Statistical analysis showed results as follows. First, it was reported to be suitable for subject reliability in self-esteem as 1.01~1.03 and item reliability as 1.01~1.01. Second, 4 scale was suitable for scale propriety resulting from stage index judgment. Third, 2,7,8 and 3 question showed problems in item goodness-of-fit and item level of difficulty. Finally, scale propriety was reported to be inappropriate for considering sports talented children's ability distribution and scale level of difficulty.
