  • In this study, we investigated the effect of aerosol feedback on $PM_{10}$ simulation using a two-way coupled air quality model (WRF-CMAQ). $PM_{10}$ concentration over Korea in January 2014 was simulated, and the aerosol feedback effect on the simulated solar radiation was intensively examined. Two $PM_{10}$ simulations were conducted using the WRF-CMAQ model with (FB) and without(NFB) the aerosol feedback option. We find that the simulated solar radiation in the west part of Korea decreased by up to $-80MJ/m^2$ due to the aerosol feedback effect. The feedback effect was significant in the west part of Korea, showing high $PM_{10}$ estimates due to dense emissions and its long-range transport from China. The aerosol feedback effect contributed to the decreased rRMSE(relative Root Mean Square Error) for solar radiation (47.58% to 30.75%). Aerosol feedback effect on the simulated solar radiation was mainly affected by concentration of $PM_{10}$. Moreover, FB better matched the observed solar radiation and $PM_{10}$ concentration than NFB, implying that taking into account the aerosol direct effects resulted in the improved modeling performance. These results indicate that aerosol feedback effects can play an important role in the simulation of solar radiation over Korean Peninsula.

  • Recently, cloud data management has been actively studied along with the development of a cloud computing technology that can process large amounts of data at a lower cost. However, the existing cloud computing platforms do not guarantee interoperability according to the construction environments of users because they do not provide technical and political openness. In other words, in order for users to receive the related services, they use services provided by only one vendor. In this paper, we design and implement a storage interface that supports the international standard CDMI in order to retrieve, update, and delete data in could environments. These interfaces provide the functionality required for developers who want to build and use the cloud storage without special restrictions. In addition, we verify the operability and usability of CDMI international standard through the implementation of the proposed system.

  • Among the Shc proteins, p66shc is known to be related to oxidative stress responses and regulation of the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS). The present study was undertaken to investigate the role of p66shc on endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) activity in the mouse embryonic fibroblasts (MEFs). When wild type (WT) or p66shc (-/-) MEFs were transfected with full length of eNOS cDNA, the expression and activity of eNOS protein were higher in the p66shc (-/-) MEFs. These phenomena were reversed by reconstitution of p66shc cDNA transfection in the p66shc (-/-) MEFs. The basal superoxide production in the p66shc (-/-) MEFs was not significantly different from that of WT of MEFs. However, superoxide production induced by NADPH in the p66shc (-/-) MEF was lesser than that in WT MEFs. When compared with WT MEFs, cell lysate of p66shc (-/-) MEFs showed significantly increased H-ras activity without change of endogenous H-ras expression. Our findings suggest the pivotal role of p66shc adaptor protein played in inhibition of endothelial nitric oxide production via modulation of the expression and/or activity of eNOS protein.

  • We have synthesized $CaS:Eu^{2+}$ phosphor by using a sealing vessel and evaluated its photoluminescence properties. The method using a sealing vessel is simple and economical in comparison with other methods reported up to date, As an activator concentration was increased from 0.1 mol to 4 mol, the main emission wavelength of the phosphor was increased from 642 nm to 651 nm due to crystal field splitting of 5d level of $Eu^{2+}$ ions. Although the same amount of $Eu_2O_3$ was used, the concentration of the activator ions which were reduced from $Eu^{3+}$ to $Eu^{2+}$ and substituting $Ca^{2+}$ ions was increased with increase of firing temperature. Therefore, the main emission wavelength was also increased from 645 nm to 651 nm with increase of firing temperature from $1100^{\circ}C$ to $1300^{\circ}C$.

  • The present study was performed to evaluate the hangover relieving effect of germinated buckwheat (GB) and Sanghwang mushroom mycelium cultured in GB (SGB). Both GB and SGB showed 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging activities and significantly increased (p < 0.001) aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) activities; up to 140% increase at concentrations of $16{\mu}L/mL$. Locomotor activity test results from alcohol-SGB and alcohol-GB groups showed improved motor activities over that of the alcohol-water group at 90 min post-administration. Both alcohol-GB and alcohol-SGB groups had significantly reduced (p < 0.001) alcohol ($40.02{\pm}33.38{\mu}g/mL$, $66.01{\pm}22.04{\mu}g/mL$, respectively) and aldehyde ($5.72{\pm}0.47{\mu}g/mL$, $6.72{\pm}1.70{\mu}g/mL$, respectively) concentrations in blood compared to those in the alcohol-water group ($199.75{\pm}33.83{\mu}g/mL$, $50.43{\pm}13.88{\mu}g/mL$, respectively) at 90 min post-administration. Based on cDNA microarray analysis, expressions of ALDH genes ALDH1a7 and ALDH18a1 and cytochrome P450 (CY450) gene CYP4a30b were upregulated in the alcohol-GB and alcohol-SGB groups compared to levels in the control group. Overall, the results suggest that both GB and SGB have hangover relieving effects by reducing blood acetaldehyde levels. The molecular mechanisms may involve ALDH activation and upregulated expression of alcohol metabolism-related genes such as ALDH and CYP450.

  • This paper deals with a study on mission analysis considering the effectiveness measurement of UAV system operations. This mission analysis process is composed of 5 steps; (1) creation of a base model in MANA, (2) design of input parameter set using experiment design, (3) mapping input parameter set to the MANA scenario file, (4) data farming and model run in batch process, and (5) statistical analysis of the simulation result. In the result of this study, the effect of input parameter to the dependent parameter was shown to decrease in the order classification range, sweep width, height, speed, FOV(Field of view), and classification probability. The study also shows that the operational effectiveness of an improved scenario proposed can increase 10.2% from the base scenario.

  • In this study, In this study, the Datum Level-based hydrography surveying system and the ellipsoid-based system were analyzed to acquire more consistent depth data. For the study, the ellipsoid-based surveying for hydrography was conducted twice for the same track line. And the depth was calculated by correcting rise and fall of water level (water level change by tidal energy and other marine environmental energies) respectively by the traditional water level correction method and ellipsoidally referenced water level correction method. there is able to check that Ellipsoid-based hydrographic surveying data is more improved than Datum Level-based hydrographic surveying data in aspect of level difference phenomenon in the same area (surveying line). This result shows that if the Ellipsoid-based hydrographic surveying is performed, the sea level change (tidal energy and other marine environmental energy) of the survey area in real time could be reflected to more consistent generating bathymetric data.

  • This paper is results of experimental and nunerical works on the behavior of the cut-and-cover tunnel. Centrifuge model tests were performed to simulate the behavior of the cut-and-cover tunnels having cross sections of national road and subway tunnels. Model experiments were carried out with changing the cut slope and the slope of filling ground surface. Displacements of tunnel lining resulted from artificially accelerated gravitational force up to 40g of covered material used in model tests, were measured during centrifuge model tests. In model tests, Jumunjin Standard Sand with the relative density of 80 % and the zinc plates were used for the covered material and the flexible tunnel lining, respectively. Basic soil property tests were performed to obtain it's the property of Jumumjin Standard Sand. Shear strength parameters of Jumunjin Standard Sand were obtained by performing the triaxial compression tests. Direct shear tests were also carried out to find the mechanical properties of the interface between the lining and the covered material. Numerical analysis with the commercially available program of FLAC were performed to compare with results of centrifuge model experiment In numerical modelling. Mohr-Coulomb elasto-plastic constitutive model was used to simulaye the behavoor of Jumunjin Standard Sand and the interface element between the lining and the covered material was implemented to simulate the interaction between them. Compared results between model tests and numerical estimation with respect to displacement of the lining showed in good agreements.

  • HC-SCR was conducted using Fe/ZSM5 catalyst coated over 200 cpi cordierite in the conditions of atomspheric pressure and $200^{\circ}C-500^{\circ}C$. Among the tested hydrocarbon reductants, isobutane (i-$C_4H_{10}$) showed the highest de-$NO_x$ yield of 69% at $320^{\circ}C$ with the mole ratio of reductant/$NO_x$ =1.0. De-$NO_x$ yield resulted by the change of alkane reductant was increased as the carbon number of alkane reductant was increased. The order of increase of de-$NO_x$ yield was proportional to the order of decrease of bonding energy between C and H of reductant, where the H abstraction step from alkane molecule could be the rate controlling step of HC-SCR.
