아동기 과체중 위험 인자로서의 TV시청시간, 사회계층요인, 부모의 과체중 및 부모의 활동수준 (Television Watering, Family Social Class, Parental Overweight, and Parental Physical Activity Levels in Relation to Childhood Overweight)

  • This study was done to determine the factors associated with childhood overweight in 721 sixth grade elementary school students, in Busan. The students' heights, weights, waist circumferences and triceps-skinfold thicknesses were measured using standard techniques. Other data were collected using a questionnaire that included information about physical activity, television watching, and the amount of exorcise taken during leisure times, family history of diseases related to obesity: social data including family income, parents'education and occupations, eating behaviors; parental weights and heights; and parental activity levels. Childhood overweight was defined as a body mass index at or above the 85th percentile for age and sex. The prevalence of overweight revealed no significant difference between sexes, (24.2% in boys and 22.03% in girls). The risk of childhood overweight was significantly greater if either the mother or the father were overweight. The odds ratio for childhood overweight associated with maternal overweight was 5.045 (94% CI : 3.262-7.801), and 2.727 (95% CI : 1.764-4.218) was the case for parental overweight. Children having a history of hear diseases had higher odds ratios than those who did not. The odds ratios for overweight associated with income were not different. However, a higher odds ratio for overweight was observed in children whose fathers had only an elementary or middle school education than those whore fathers had a high school or college education. Children whose fathers' occupations were service workers or shopkeepers (OR : 3.314, 95% C = 1.851-5.934) or had no occupation (OR = 3.756, 95% CI : 1.898-7.430) had a treater risk of overweight than those whose fathers'were professionals or once workers. The risk of overweight increased in children having more irregular meal times and faster eating times, rather than those having an intake pattern of high energy and sugar containing floods. The amount of exercise taken during leisure times, and daily physical activity showed no difference between overweight and non-overweight children. However, television watching time, especially on weekends, was greater in overweight children than in non-overweight children. Television watching time was positively correlated with BMI, triceps-skin(31d thickness, waist circumference and waist/height ratio. Therefore, television watching was found to be a useful predictor of overweight in children. Television watching in children was negatively related to paternal activity levels, and positively related to parental television watching time. In fact, fathers whose children were overweight were physically less active than fathers whose children were non-overweight. Parents appeared to be a strong influence on their children's physical activity levels. In conclusion, a low family social class, defined on the basis of the father's occupation or education, parental overweight, increased television watching, and unhealthy physical activity levels in parents were all considered risk factors for childhood overweight. Among these, television watching time and lack of physical activity were considered to be the most important risk factors that could be easily modified for the prevention of and intervention in, overweight in children.

부모의 양육 역할 책임 척도 개발 및 타당화 연구 (Development and Validation of the Parental Role Responsibilities Scale)

  • 본 연구는 영유아기 자녀를 양육하고 있는 부모의 부모 역할 책임을 확인할 수 있는 평가 척도를 개발하고자 하였다. 본 연구 조사 대상자는 어린이집에 재원 중인 자녀를 둔 301명의 부모이다. 부모의 양육 책임 척도는 문항 양호도, 타당도, 신뢰도 기준에 따라 11개 하위요인, 총 60문항으로 선정되었다 (i.e., factor load ≥ 0.5; AVE ≥ 0.5; CR ≥ 0.7; Cronbach's alpha ≥ 0.7). 부모의 양육 책임 척도는 '위생관리'(4문항), '신체활동'(6문항), '생존 및 건강관리'(6문항), '인지발달'(5문항), '정서적 안정감'(5문항), '사회적 기술' (6문항), 사회규범 및 가치관' (7문항), '물리적 환경'(5문항), '보호'(5문항), '가족공동체 의식과 가풍'(4문항), '기관이용 부모의 역할과 책임'(7문항)이 최종 확정되었다. 영유아기 자녀를 둔 부모의 양육 역할 책임에 대한 지표를 한국의 실정에 맞도록 검증하여 개발하였다는 데 의의가 있다. 이 척도를 통하여 부모 역할 책임의 특성을 파악할 수 있으며, 부모와 육아 지원 기관과의 원활한 의사소통의 기초자료가 될 수 있을 것이라 기대한다.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the formation of parental beliefs. For this study, 154 unmarried university students were asked to fill in a packet of survey questionnaire about parental beliefs, the internal representation of childhood, and communication with their parents. Data collected were analyzed using correlation and multiple regression by SPSS PC program. It was reported that the internal representation of parenting formed in childhood influences the development of rational authoritative beliefs, distancing beliefs, and direct authoritative beliefs. Also, the open communication with parents affected the distancing beliefs and rational authoritative beliefs.

어린이집 이용 부모의 역할 책임에 대한 부모의 인식과 실행 차이 (Differences Between Parental Perceptions and Practices of Parental Role Responsibilities for Children Enrolled in Preschools)

  • Objective: This study aims to examine the level of parental perceptions and practices on parental role responsibilities for children enrolled in preschools and to verify the differences. Methods: A total of 301 parents whose children were attending preschools participated in this study. The collected data were analyzed for frequency, factor analysis, and reliability. In addition, the t-test and the Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) were performed. Results: First, there are relatively high levels of perception and practices of parental role responsibilities. Second, parental perception of parental role responsibilities is higher than the level of actual performance. Third, although parents were highly aware of their role responsibilities, there is a great expectation of the role of preschools for the development of the social competence of children. Fourth, parents value the level of practice of role responsibilities in preschools relatively high. Conclusion/Implications: Support systems are needed to reduce the gap between parental perception and practice of their role responsibilities for children enrolled in preschools.

저소득층 가정 부모의 아동안전사고 예방행위 실천에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Factors Affecting Parental Practices of In-home Injury Prevention for Young Children in Low-Income Families)

  • Purpose: This study examined the characteristics of in-home injuries of children in low-income families and sought to identify the factors affecting parental in-home injury prevention practices. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive survey design was applied, using questionnaires on in-home injury characteristics in children, parental in-home injury prevention practices, parental perceptions and knowledge on childhood injuries, and the Parental Stress Index. We queried 169 parents of children less than 5years of age who were enrolled in Nutrition Plus Projects at community health centers. Results: Overall, 92.7% of children had experienced in-home injuries, with sliding crashes and bumping injuries as the most frequent type of injury. The recovery rate with a scar after injury was 26.3%. Parental practices for in-home injury prevention were higher according parental age, educational status, and previous learning experiences regarding in-home safety and injury prevention. The two most significant factors affecting parental in-home injury prevention practices were age and parental perception of childhood injuries as being controllable and preventable. Conclusions: Considering the high risk of in-home childhood injuries in low-income families, safety education and the promotion of injury prevention practices for parents are recommended. The strategy to enhance the parental perception on preventing childhood injuries needs to be addressed.

유아기 자녀를 둔 가정의 취업모를 대상으로 한 부모교육 프로그램의 효과: 부모존경-자녀존중 부모교육 프로그램을 중심으로 (The Effect of a Parent Education Program for Working Mothers of Dual-income Families with Young Children: Focusing on the Parents and Respected Children Parent Education Program)

  • Objective: This study employed a pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design to evaluate the effectiveness of the Respected Parents & Respected Children(RPRC) parent education program developed for working mothers of dual-income families with young children. Methods: A total of 32 working mothers were randomly assigned to two groups, an intervention group (n = 16) and a control group (n = 16). Mothers in the intervention group participated in the parent education program. After the termination of the program, differences between the pretest and posttest in terms of mothers'parenting behaviors, parenting efficacy and parental role satisfaction were compared in both groups. Results: Mothers in the intervention group were significantly improved in their parenting behaviors and parenting efficacy, whereas mothers in the control group did not show any significant differences between pretest and posttest scores. However, there was no significant difference in parental role satisfaction between the intervention group and the control group. Conclusion/Implications: These findings suggest that RPRC parent education program is effective in bringing about positive changes in working mothers'parenting confidence, which can be crucial for the future developmental outcomes of their children.

어린이집 원장의 기관유형에 따른 부모교육에 대한 인식 (A Comparison Study on the Perceptions of Parents and Directors of Child-Care Centers regarding Parent Education)

  • 본 연구는 어린이집 원장을 대상으로 기관유형에 따른 부모교육 인식의 차이를 알아본 연구이다. 연구 대상은 충북, 세종, 전북에 거주하는 어린이집 원장 147명이며 자료조사는 설문지법을 사용하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 18을 이용하였으며 원장의 인식과 그 차이를 알아보기 위하여 빈도분석과 교차분석, ANOVA 및 사후검증으로는 Tukey를 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과 기관 유형에 따라 어린이집 원장의 부모교육의 필요성에 대한 인식에는 차이가 나타나지 않았으며 부모교육의 주제, 부모교육의 운영방법, 부모교육의 평가 영역에서는 어린이집 유형에 따라 원장의 인식에 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다.

부모의 용서와 부모-자녀 의사소통이 남녀 아동의 용서에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Parental Forgiveness and Parent-Child Communication on School-Age Boys' and Girls' Forgiveness)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of parental forgiveness and parent-child communication on school-age children's forgiveness in late childhood. Methods: A total of 231 fifth and sixth graders (122 boys and 109 girls) living in Daegu participated in the study. They responded to questionnaires regarding parental forgiveness, parent-child communication and children's forgiveness. The data were analyzed by t-tests, Pearson's correlations, and SEM using SPSS 18.0 and LISREL 9.1. Results: First, paternal forgiveness had a direct effect on children's forgiveness. Second, parental forgiveness had an indirect effect on children's forgiveness through parent-child communication. Finally, multigroup analyses revealed that paternal forgiveness had a direct effect and an indirect effect through father-child communication on boys' forgiveness, whereas maternal forgiveness had an indirect effect on girls' forgiveness through mother-child communication. Conclusion: These findings suggest that the gender of parents and children needs to be considered to explain school-age children's forgiveness. In addition, these findings have implications for future research and practice by highlighting the importance of parental forgiveness and parent-child communication in forgiveness education programs for children and parent education programs.

어머니의 현대적 양육관과 아동의 행동문제가 어머니의 양육 스트레스에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Parental Modernity and Children's Misbehavior on Parenting Stress of Mothers)

  • 본 연구에서는 유아기 자녀를 둔 어머니를 대상으로 어머니가 지각하는 양육스트레스에 영향을 미치는 변인들을 파악하고자 어머니의 양육스트레스를 설명하는 아동관련 변인으로 아동의 행동문제를 분석하고자 하며, 또한 어머니의 현대적 양육관이 양육스트레스에 미치는 영향을 밝히고자 한다. 어머니의 현대적 양육관, 아동의 행동문제, 어머니의 양육스트레스에서 아동의 성별에 따른 차이가 있는지 살펴본 결과 이들 변인 중 아동의 행동문제에서만이 성별에 따른 차이가 있었고, 여아들보다 남아들에게서 과잉활동을 보이는 행동문제가 더 많은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 어머니의 학력이 높을수록 현대적 양육관이 높았고, 어머니의 현대적 양육관이 높을수록 아동에 대한 양육스트레스를 덜 지각하였으며 아동의 과잉활동이 많을수록 양육스트레스를 더 많이 지각하였다. 또한 어머니의 양육스트레스에 가장 큰 영향을 주는 요인은 아동의 행동문제였다.

간호 대학생이 지각한 부모의 양육태도와 성격과의 관계 (Relationship between Personality and Parental Rearing Attitudes perceived by Nursing College Students)

  • Purpose: This study was to identify the relationship between parental rearing attitudes and personality in nursing college students. Methods: A total of 297 subjects aged between 18 and 28 were selected through convenient sampling. Data were collected with a self-reported questionnaire from March 2 to 25, 2011. Collected data were analyzed with SpSS/pC Win 15.0. Results: Differences in parental rearing attitudes according to general characteristics were as follows. In parental rearing attitudes, acceptance were significantly different according to school record of their children. In maternal rearing attitudes, acceptance was significantly different according to economic status and paternal rearing attitudes perceived acceptance was significantly different according to parental education level. All of parental rearing attitudes perceived denial were significantly different according to the gender, grade, parental economic status, blood type, two income family. There was a positive correlation between parental rearing attitudes perceived acceptance and personality of their children except paternal rearing attitude perceived denial. 26.3% of variance in personality was explained by maternal rearing attitude perceived acceptance only. Conclusion: The findings of this study may be useful in understanding the personality of nursing college students and developing more specific personality and parental rearing attitudes programs.
