Improve Matching for Rectangular Slot Antenna by Parasitic Slots

  • A perfect matching is the desire of antenna designers. In this paper, we improve the matching of antenna designing. In general, the efficiency of antennas has many improvements. In this paper, we choose to extend matching by adding the slots in the basic microstrip-fed rectangular slot antenna. We called it as "parasitic slots". The dominant characteristic of this addition is double efficient improvement matching and other characteristics of antenna are similar. It means that the microstrip-fed rectangular slot antenna with parasitic slots has all characteristics as same as the microstrip-fed rectangular slot antenna without parasitic slots. The antenna with parasitic slots has better matching better than the antenna without parasitic slots.

Design of a Wideband Antipodal Vivaldi Antenna with an Asymmetric Parasitic Patch

  • An antipodal Vivaldi antenna with a compact parasitic patch to overcome radiation performance degradations in the high-frequency band is proposed. For this purpose, a double asymmetric trapezoidal parasitic patch is designed and added to the aperture of an antipodal Vivaldi antenna. The patch is designed to efficiently focus the beam toward the end-fire direction at high frequencies by utilizing field coupling between the main radiating patch and the inserted parasitic patch. As a result, this technique considerably improves the gain and stability of radiation patterns at high frequencies. The proposed antenna has a peak gain greater than 9 dBi over the frequency range of 6-26.5 GHz.

A Triple-Band Printed Dipole Antenna using Parasitic Elements for Multiple Wireless Services

  • In this paper, a triple-band printed dipole antenna using parasitic elements is proposed for the multiple wireless services. The proposed antenna is designed and experimentally analyzed at the bands of PCS, IMT-2000, and ISM services. To achieve triple frequency operation, the proposed antenna contains two parasitic elements, which act as additional resonators by coupling from the driving dipole antenna. From the measured results, the resonant frequencies of this antenna are 1.79 ㎓, 2.03 ㎓, and 2.41 ㎓ and the measured impedance bandwidths are 90 MHz(1760∼1850 MHz), 210 MHz(1,930∼2,130 MHz), and 30 MHz(2,400∼2,430 MHz) for VSWR<2. The measured antenna gains are 2.14 ㏈i, 0.9 ㏈i, and 0.5 ㏈i, respectively. Antenna parameters for trifle-band operation are investigated and several antenna characteristics are discussed.

  • 본 논문에서는 기생소자 효과를 이용한 이동단말기용 광대역 안테나를 연구하였다. 기생소자에 관한 효과를 관찰하기 위해 기생소자는 급전이 되지 않는 원통형 도체를 사용하였다. 원통 도체의 외경이 증가함에 따라 두 번째, 세 번째 공진 주파수 특성이 급격히 변함을 알 수 있었다. 4.5 w의 외경을 가지는 원통형 도체 기생소자가 삽입된 경우 normal mode 헬리컬 안테나는 반사손실 -5 dB를 기준으로 900 MHz의 밴드폭을 얻었다.

  • 본 논문은 크기가 소형화된 광대역 기생 패치 안테나를 제안한다. 폭이 좁아진 주 패치의 두 방사 모서리부에 U자 형태의 기생 패치를 설계하여 안테나 전체 크기를 감소시키고, 주 패치와 기생 패치 사이의 E-plane 및 H-plane을 통한 electromagnetic coupling에 의해 광대역 특성을 얻는다. 안테나 방사 소자들의 전체 크기는 $18{\times}17.6\;mm^2$ 이고, 접지면과 유전체를 포함한 전체 크기는 $25{\times}30{\times}4\;mm^3$이다. 설계된 안테나는 FR4 유전체를 이용해 제작하였으며, 5.12 GHz와 6.08 GHz의 공진 주파수와 5.5 GHz 중심 주파수를 기준으로 27.3 %(1.5 GHz)의 대역폭을 갖는다. 측정된 안테나의 방사 패턴은 일반적인 마이크로스트립 패치 안테나와 유사하다.

Novel Design of A Wideband Folded Monopole Antenna with Parasitic Element for DVB-H Application

  • Novel design of a wideband monopole antenna for DVB-H service is presented. The proposed antenna is designed based on a monopole antenna. It consists of folded monopole and parallel parasitic element. The folded segment of the folded monopole makes the antenna shorter. The length of the parasitic element obtains additional resonance frequencies. The gap distance between the folded monopole and the parasitic element is a key parameter to control impedance matching for wideband operation. The antenna has wide band performance, good impedance and radiation characteristics from 470 MHz to 870 MHz. The measured return loss for operating frequencies over DVB-H band is better than 10 dB. Good radiation patterns are also obtained. The measured results are compared with calculated results using Ansoft HFSS(High Frequency Structure Simulator).

Passive parasitic UWB antenna capable of switched beam-forming in the WLAN frequency band using an optimal reactance load algorithm

  • We propose a switched beam-forming antenna that satisfies not only ultra-wideband characteristics but also beam-forming in the WLAN frequency band using an ultra-wideband antenna and passive parasitic elements applying a broadband optimal reactance load algorithm. We design a power and phase estimation function and an error correction function by re-analyzing and normalizing all the components of the parasitic array using control system engineering. The proposed antenna is compared with an antenna with a pin diode and reactance load value, respectively. The pin diode is located between the passive parasitic elements and ground plane. An antenna beam can be formed in eight directions according to the pin diode ON (reflector)/OFF (director) state. The antenna with a reactance load value achieves a better VSWR and gain than the antenna with a pin diode. We confirm that a beam is formed in eight directions owing to the RF switch operation, and the measured peak gain is 7 dBi at 2.45 GHz and 10 dBi at 5.8 GHz.

기생소자를 이용한 광대역 마이크로스트립 안테나의 설계 (Design of wideband microstrip antennas using parasitic element)

  • In this paper, the microstrip anntenna with broad bandwidth is designed using parasitic element. In the designed cofiguration, parasitic element of the same resonating length but different width which is coupled to the nonradiating edge of a rectangular patch antenna. The driven element aloe is fed and the other part is operated as parasitic element. So the different patchs are resonating at differnt frequencies and this multiple resonance increase the bandwidth. The overall size of the antenna is not increased by adding parasitic element to a driven patch. Compared to the available wideband microstrip antennas, the designed antenna structure is bery compact. A theoretical explanation of the rectangular patch antenna coupled with prarsitic is analyzed by extending the theory of coupled microstrip lines. The theoretical and experimental results for a patch coupled with a single parasitic are presented.

  • 본 논문에서는 직사각형 및 삼각형 기생 패치를 이용한 광대역 마이크로스트립 패치 안테나를 제안하였다. 직사각형 마이크로스트립 패치 위에 직사각형 및 삼각형 모양의 기생 패치들을 적층하여 860MHz대역에서 광대역 특성을 얻었다. 주 방사부인 마이크로스트립안테나와 기생 패치와의 효과적인 결합은 이들 사이에 두꺼운 공기층을 두어 구현하였다. 또한, 이들 공기층 두께와 기생 패치의 위치는 광대역 정합에 중요한 요소임을 알 수 있었다. 제안된 안테나는 $119mm{\times}109mm$ 크기의 소형 접지면 위에 설계되었으며, 안테나의 임피던스 대역은 780MHz~890MHz로 CDMA 대역을 만족한다.

TACAN용 광대역 안테나 기생소자 최적화 (Optimization of Broadband Antenna Parasitic Elements for TACAN)

  • 본 논문은 전술항법장비(Tactical Air Navigation)용 광대역 안테나에 대한 기생소자의 최적화에 대하여 연구하였다. 방위정보를 포함하는 15 Hz와 135 Hz가 합성된 방사 패턴을 생성하고, 규격 MIL-STD-291C에서 요구하는 하모닉 성분 규격을 만족하기 위하여 모터를 이용한 종전의 기계식 회전 안테나 대신 전자적으로 안테나를 회전시키기 위하여 기생소자를 원형 배열로 배치하였다. 기생소자 개수의 최적화에 대하여 전산모의실험을 수행하고, 16개의 15 Hz 기생소자와 63개의 135 Hz 기생소자로 구성된 안테나를 제작하였다. 반사기의 벡터 합성을 이용하여 스텝 수를 증가시킴으로써 하모닉 성분을 줄이고, MIL-STD-291C 규격을 만족한다.
