The uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) of rock is a basic parameter in underground engineering design. The disadvantages of this commonly employed laboratory testing method are untimely testing, difficulty in performing core testing of broken rock mass and long and complicated onsite testing processes. Therefore, the development of a fast and simple in situ rock UCS testing method for field use is urgent. In this study, a multi-function digital rock drilling and testing system and a digital core bit dedicated to the system are independently developed and employed in digital drilling tests on rock specimens with different strengths. The energy analysis is performed during rock cutting to estimate the energy consumed by the drill bit to remove a unit volume of rock. Two quantitative relationship models of energy analysis-based core drilling parameters (ECD) and rock UCS (ECD-UCS models) are established in this manuscript by the methods of regression analysis and support vector machine (SVM). The predictive abilities of the two models are comparatively analysed. The results show that the mean value of relative difference between the predicted rock UCS values and the UCS values measured by the laboratory uniaxial compression test in the prediction set are 3.76 MPa and 4.30 MPa, respectively, and the standard deviations are 2.08 MPa and 4.14 MPa, respectively. The regression analysis-based ECD-UCS model has a more stable predictive ability. The energy analysis-based rock drilling method for the prediction of UCS is proposed. This method realized the quick and convenient in situ test of rock UCS.

This study was performed a series of the isotropic compression-expansion tests and the drained triaxial tests with various the relative densities 25%, 50%, 80% and 100% for Baekma river sand. Using the tests results the characteristic of the parameters of Lade's single hardening constitutive model were investigated. The soil parameters Kur and n representing elastic behavior are not much affected by the change of the relative density. The other parameters such as failure criterion (m, ${\eta}_1$), hardening function (C, p) and plastic potential (${\Psi}_2$, ${\mu}$) are in a positive linear relationship with the relative density. Since the soil parameters h and $\alpha$ representing yield function do not change much to the change of relative density and also closely related to failure criterion, they can be replaced by failure criterion ${\eta}_1$. We also observed that predicted values from the Lade's single hardening constitutive model were well consistent with the observed data.
An extended study was conducted on the fracture criterion by Choung et al. (2011; 2012) and Choung and Nam (2013), and the results are presented in two parts. The theoretical background of the fracture and the results of new experimental studies were reported in Part I, and three-dimensional fracture surface formulations and verifications are reported in Part II. How the corrected true stress can be processed from the extrapolated true stress is first introduced. Numerical simulations using the corrected true stress were conducted for pure shear, shear-tension, and pure compression tests. The numerical results perfectly coincided with test results, except for the pure shear simulations, where volume locking appeared to prevent a load reduction. The average stress triaxialities, average normalized lode parameters, and equivalent plastic strain at fracture initiation were extracted from numerical simulations to formulate a new three-dimensional fracture strain surface. A series of extra tests with asymmetric notch specimens was performed to check the validity of the newly developed fracture strain surface. Then, a new user-subroutine was developed to calculate and transfer the two fracture parameters to commercial finite element code. Simulation results based on the user-subroutine were in good agreement with the test results.
The stress-strain relationship of soil is dependent on a number of factors such as soil type, density, stress level and stress path. Th accurate stress-stain relationship can be predict using a constitutive model incorporated all influencing factors. In this study, an isotropic compression-expansion test and a series of drained conventional triaxial tests with several stress paths were performed on Baekma river sand to investigate parameters characteristics of Lade's single work hardening model depending on the stress path.. Based on test results, the parameters of yield function (h, ${\alpha}$) are not much influenced by stress level and stress path, the these parameters do affect a little bit of stress-strain behavior. The parameters h and ${\alpha}$ are closely related to failure criterion ${\eta}_1$, they can be replaced by failure criterion parament. We also observed that predicted values from the Lade's single hardening constitutive model are well matched with the observed data.
Today, the modeling of concrete as a material within finite element simulations is predominantly done through nonlinear material models of concrete. In current sophisticated computational systems, there are a number of complex concrete material models which are based on theory of plasticity, damage mechanics, linear or nonlinear fracture mechanics or combinations of those theories. These models often include very complex constitutive relations which are suitable for the modeling of practically any continuum mechanics tasks. However, the usability of these models is very often limited by their parameters, whose values must be defined for the proper realization of appropriate constitutive relations. Determination of the material parameter values is very complicated in most material models. This is mainly due to the non-physical nature of most parameters, and also the large number of them that are frequently involved. In such cases, the designer cannot make practical use of the models without having to employ the complex inverse parameter identification process. In continuum mechanics, however, there are also constitutive relations that require the definition of a relatively small number of parameters which are predominantly of a physical nature and which describe the behavior of concrete very well within a particular task. This paper presents an example of such constitutive relations which have the potential for implementation and application in finite element systems. Specifically, constitutive relations for modeling the plane stress state of concrete are presented and subsequently tested and evaluated in this paper. The relations are based on the incremental theory of elastic strain-hardening plasticity in which a non-associated flow rule is used. The calculation result for the case of concrete under uniaxial compression is compared with the experimental data for the purpose of the validation of the constitutive relations used.
Recently, the artificial intelligence deep learning field has been hard to commercialize due to the high computing power and the price problem of computing resources. In this paper, we apply a double pruning techniques to evaluate the performance of the in-depth neural network and various datasets. Double pruning combines basic Network-slimming and Parameter-prunning. Our proposed technique has the advantage of reducing the parameters that are not important to the existing learning and improving the speed without compromising the learning accuracy. After training various datasets, the pruning ratio was increased to reduce the size of the model. We confirmed that MobileNet-V3 showed the highest performance as a result of NetScore performance analysis. We confirmed that the performance after pruning was the highest in MobileNet-V3 consisting of depthwise seperable convolution neural networks in the Cifar 10 dataset, and VGGNet and ResNet in traditional convolutional neural networks also increased significantly.

In this paper, we propose the bit-rate control algorithm for the block based image compression like H.263, H.263+ or MPEG-4. The proposed algorithm is designed to identify the quantization parameter set through the Lagrangian optimization technique based on the well-known linear source model. We set the Lagrangian cost function with the rates and distortion calculated from the linear source model. We calculate the quantization parameter set using the Vitervi algorithm to solve the Lagrangian optimization problem considering the Dquant method of H.263 and MPEG-4. The proposed algorithm improves the video quality by up to 1.5 dB compared with the TMN8 scheme, and is more effective in the video sources with dynamic activities than the consistent quality approaches.

Polyurethane Foam(PUF), a outstanding thermal insulation material, is used for various structures as being composed with other materials. These days, PUF composed with glass fiber, Reinforced PUF(R-PUF), is used for a insulation system of LNG Carrier and performs function of not only the thermal insulation but also a structural member for compressive loads like a sloshing load. As PUF is a porous material made by mixing and foaming, mechanical properties depend on volume fraction of voids which is a dominant parameter on density. Thus, In this study, density is considered as the effect parameter on mechanical properties of Polyurethane Foam, and mechanical behavior for compression of the material is described by using modified Gurson damage model.
The high temperature deformation behavior of microalloyed hot forging steels has been examined as a function of the temperature, the strain rate, and the alloying element by using high temperature compression test. The high temperature deformation mechanism, which was obtained by analyzing the flow stress-strain curve and microstructure, could be considered to dynamic recrystallization. The peak stress of Nb-V-Mo steel was more increased and the dynamic recrystallization of Nb-V-Mo steel was faster than those of Nb-V steel. The peak stress of 1.2Mn-0.09Nb steel was more increased and the dynamic recrystallization of 1.2Mn-0.09Nb was delayed a little bit than those of 1.0Mn-0.05Nb. The peak stress of C-Nb-V steel was more increased and the dynamic recrystallization of C-Nb-V steel was delayed than those of C-steel. The constitutive equation of high temperature deformation had a power law type. The grain size of dynamic recrystallization was refined as the Zener-Hollomon parameter was increased. The relation of the dynamic recrystallization grain size and Zener-Hollomon parameter could be quantified to power law.
Band parameters and superconductivity of yttrium hypocarbide ($Y_2C$) have been investigated. The computations are performed using first-principles pseudopotential method within a generalized gradient approximation. The equilibrium lattice parameters have been determined and compared with experiment. Moreover, the material of interest is found to be stiffer for strains along the a-axis than those along the c-axis. A band-structure analysis of $Y_2C$ implied that the latter has a metallic character. The examination of Eliashberg Spectral Function indicates that Y-related phonon modes as well as C-related phonon modes are considerably involved in the progress of scattering of electrons. By integrating this function, the value of the average electron-phonon coupling parameter (${\lambda}$) is found to be 0.362 suggesting thus that $Y_2C$ is a weak coupling Bardeen-Copper-Schrieffer superconductor. The use of a reasonable value for the effective Coulomb repulsion parameter (${\mu}^*=0.10$) yielded a superconducting critical temperature $T_c$ of 0.59 K which is comparable with a previous theoretical value of 0.33 K. Upon compression (at pressure of 10 GPa) ${\lambda}$ and $T_c$ are increased to be 0.366 and 0.89 K, respectively, showing thus the pressure effect on the superconductivity in $Y_2C$. The spin-polarization calculations showed that the difference in the total energy between the magnetic and non-magnetic $Y_2C$ is weak.
