SAC is a compact electro-optical camera for imaging in visible-NIR spectral ranges. SAC provides highresolution images over the wide geometric and spectral ranges: 10 m ground sample distance (GSD) and 50 km swath width in the spectral ranges of 520 ${\sim}$ 890 nm. SAC is designed to produce high quality images: modulation transfer function (MTF) of more than 15 %; signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of more than 100. The missions of SAC incorporate various imaging operations: multi-spectral imaging; super swath-width imaging with cameras in parallel; along-track stereo imaging with slanted 2 cameras.
The aim of this work was to develop the gamma camera system for small animal gamma imaging and environmental radiation monitoring imaging using a parallel hole collimator and pinhole collimator. The small gamma camera system consists of a CsI(Tl) scintillation crystal with 6 mm in thickness and $50{\times}50mm$ in area coupled with a Hamamatsu H8500C PSPMT, are resistive charge divider, pre-amplifiers, charge amplifiers, nuclear instrument modules (NIMs), an analog to digital converter and a computer for control and display. We have developed a radiation monitoring system composed of a combined pinhole gamma camera and a charge-coupled devices (CCD) camera. The results demonstrated that the parallel hole collimator and pinhole collimator gamma camera designed in this study could be utilized to perform small animal imaging and environmental radiation monitoring system. Consequently in this paper, we proved that our gamma detector system is reliable for a gamma camera which can be used as small animal imaging and environmental radiation monitoring system.

Purpose : Motion effects in parallel magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are investigated. Parallel MRI is known to be robust to motion due to its reduced acquisition time. However, if there are some involuntary motions such as heart or respiratory motions involved during the acquisition of the parallel MRI, motion artifacts would be even worse than those in conventional (non-parallel) MRI. In this paper, we defined several types of motions, and their effects in parallel MRI are investigated in comparisons with conventional MRI. Materials and Methods : In order to investigate motion effects in parallel MRI, 5 types of motions are considered. Type-1 and 2 are periodic motions with different amplitudes and periods. Type-3 and 4 are segment-based linear motions, where they are stationary during the segment. Type-5 is a uniform random motion. For the simulation, Cartesian and spiral grid based parallel and non-parallel (conventional) MRI are used. Results : Based on the motions defined, moving artifacts in the parallel and non-parallel MRI are investigated. From the simulation, non-parallel MRI shows smaller root mean square error (RMSE) values than the parallel MRI for the periodic (type-1 and 2) motions. Parallel MRI shows less motion artifacts for linear(type-3 and 4) motions where motions are reduced with shorter acquisition time. Similar motion artifacts are observed for the random motion (type-5). Conclusion : In this paper, we simulate the motion effects in parallel MRI. Parallel MRI is effective in the reduction of motion artifacts when motion is reduced by the shorter acquisition time. However, conventional MRI shows better image quality than the parallel MRI when fast periodic motions are involved.
The method and results of the software implementation of a echo processor for medical ultrasound imaging using a GPU (NVIDIA G80) is presented. The echo signal processing functions are modified in a SIMD manner suitable for the GPU's massively parallel processing architecture so that the GPU's 128 ALUs are utilized nearly 100%. The preliminary result for a frame of image composed of 128 scan lines, each having 10240 16-bit samples, shows that the echo processor can be inplemented at a high rate of 30 frames per second when implemented in C, which is close to the optimized assembly codes running on the TI's TMS320C6416 DSP.
We have designed and constructed a scanner optics for thermal imaging system operating in 8 - 12 /lfll band. The scanner consists of rotating polygon and oscillating mirror for serial-parallel scan using 5 elements SPRITE HgCdTe. A spherical mirror is used for scan relay mirror to minimize size of the scan mirrors and pupil aberration. The scanner has $40^{\circ}\times26.67^{\circ}$ wide scan field of view and the calculated diffraction MTF shows diffraction limited performance. As a result we have obtained high resolution thermal image. image.

Neutron imaging technique was used to investigate the water distribution and movement in Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) at HANARO, KAERI. The Feasibility tests were performed in the first and second exposure rooms at the neutron radiography facility (NRF) at HANARO in order to check the ability of each exposure room, respectively. The feasibility test apparatus was composed of water and pressurized air before making up the actual test apparatus. Due to the low neutron intensity in the second exposure room, the exposure time was too long to investigate the transient phenomena of PEMFC. Although the exposure time was improved to 0.1 sec in the first exposure room, it was difficult to discriminate detail water movement at the channel due to the high noise level. Therefore, the experimental setup must be optimized according to the test conditions. Water discharge characteristics were investigated under different flow field geometries by using feasibility test apparatus and the neutron imaging technique. The water discharge characteristics of a 3-parallel serpentine are superior to those of a 1-parallel serpentine, but water at Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA) was not removed, regardless of the flow field type.

Stereo vision has become an important technical issue in the field of 3D imaging, machine vision, robotics, image analysis, and so on. The depth map extraction from stereo video is a key technology of stereoscopic 3D video requiring stereo correspondence algorithms. This is the matching process of the similarity measure for each disparity value, followed by an aggregation and optimization step. Since it requires a lot of computational power, there are significant speed-performance advantages when exploiting parallel processing available on processors. In this situation, multi-core CPU may allow many parallel programming technologies to be realized in users computing devices. This paper proposes parallel implementations for calculating disparity map using a shared memory programming and exploiting the streaming SIMD extension technology. By doing so, we can take advantage both of the hardware and software features of multi-core processor. For the performance evaluation, we implemented a parallel SAD algorithm with OpenMP and SSE2. Their processing speeds are compared with non parallel version on stereoscopic streaming video. The experimental results show that both technologies have a significant effect on the performance and achieve great improvements on processing speed.
True electronic paper displays are being enabled by the development of two core technologies - plastic electronics for display backplanes and electrophoretic ink for use as the imaging layer. Electrophoretic ink developed by E Ink Corporation continues to advance performance along with parallel technology breakthroughs in flexible TFT backplanes. An overview of these advances in the ink imaging material will be discussed with special emphasis of the expected impact on the emerging flexible display applications.
