A study on Parallel Interference Cancellation scheme based sorting method for a Multi-carrier DS/CDMA System (MC-DS/CDMA 시스템에서 정렬기법을 이용한 병렬형 간섭제거기법의 성능개선에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we introduce a Parallel Interference Canceller (PIC) based sorting method to improve performance in the MC-DS/CDMA environment. A conventional PIC estimates and subtracts out all of the MAI (Multiple Access Interference) for each user in parallel. The parallel process ensures the low delay for the detection of all users. Also this scheme requires more stages for having better performance. Since the performance of PIC is strongly related to the correct MAI estimation, we introduce the IC (Interference Cancellation) scheme to estimate the accurate weaker signal group than the desired signal using conventional PIC. The principle of the proposed receiver sorts in descending order by the strength of signal and subtracts the MAI of the strong interferers from the desired signal for the accurate estimate of the weaker signals. Following this, the proposed scheme cancels out the improved weaker interference from the desired signal, using the output of the pre-step. In this result, the proposed system obtains better BER performance than the conventional PIC because the accuracy of the strong signal is improved. However, a disadvantage exists in that the processing time has slightly longer delay than the PIC owing to the power sorting and the MAI estimation process. The system performance evaluates and compares other non-liner It according to the number of sub-carriers in the limited-bandwidth.

An Multiple Access Interference Mitigation Technique Using Linearly Constrained Constant Modulus Algorithm in MC-CDMA Systems (Linearly Constrained Constant Modulus Algorithm을 이용한 MC-CDMA 시스템에서의 MAI 완화 기법)

  • In this paper, two interference suppression schemes (LCCMA, HIC) applied to the MC-CDMA system were proposed. The proposed schemes have advantages that it don't requires the other's spreading code and can be used even in mobile. The proposed HIC combines the proposed interference suppressor with PIC. Simulation is performed in various environments using the Monte Carlo method. Simulation results show that there is 1.4~3 times capacity increase in corresponding simulation environments. Also this scheme can take advantage of path diversity whereas the system using EGC, MRC, and PIC cannot. Therefore, as the number of path increase, a considerable performance improvement can be attained.

  • A Multicarrier code division multiple access(MC-CDMA) is a scheme that combines multicarrier modulation with CDMA. It offers robustness to frequency selective fading effect and can support higher rate data transmission with higher spectral efficiency. The objective of this article is proposed and analyzed a new asynchronous MC-CDMA system with various kinds of data rates which employs a multiple access interference (MAI) canceller. The proposed multirate MC-CDMA system can be accomplished by changing the number of Parallel branch(P) according to their data rate and hybrid interference canceller(HIC) are used for MAI cancellation. We compare the performance of proposed system in terms of average bit error rate(BER) with that of a single rate MC-CDMA system. The results show the large improvement in performance that can be attained by the cancellation scheme under multipath environments.

  • In this paper, we introduce a modified interference cancellation scheme for multiuser detection in CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access). This detector uses SIC(Successive Interference Canceller) scheme and divides the received signals to reduce the delay time. In this proposed structure, the active users are divided into a number of groups. Within each group, parallel detection is performed to estimate the output signal of that group. The estimated output signal due to that group is then subtracted from the received signal and the resulting residual signal is used for the parallel detection of the next group. This parallel and serial cancellation process is repeated until the last group in the stage is completed. The estimated output signals due to all groups except -th group are MAI for the user signals in -th group. Therefore, the estimated output signals due to all groups except th group are subtracted from the received signal, and then the obtained signal becomes the input signal of -th SIC. The proposed RDSIC (Reduced Delay time of Successive Interference Canceller) has performance and complexity close to the SIC, but with much less detection delay.

A Simple Multi-rate Parallel Interference Canceller for the IMT-2000 3GPP System (IMT-2000 3GPP 시스템을 위한 간단한 다중 전송률 병렬형 간섭제거기)

  • In this paper, we propose an effective but simple multi-rate parallel interference canceller(PIC) for the international mobile telecommunications-2000(IMT-2000) 3rd generation partnership project (3GPP) system. For effective multi-rate processing, we define the basic block as one symbol period of the dedicated physical control channel(DPCCH) having the lowest data rate and common to all users. Then, decision and interference cancellation are performed at every basic block. For an asynchronous channel, we propose an advance removal scheme that removes in advance multiple access interference(MAI) due to the next blockof other users with shorter delay. Introducing a pipeline structure at a sample base, we can implement efficiently the PIC using the advance removal scheme with a minimum hardware and no extra computations. Through computer simulations, we analyze the bit error rate(BER) performance of the proposed PIC with respect to signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) and the number of users.

  • IMT-2000 system is the third generation mobile communication system which aims at mobile multimedia services with global roaming. Like 2nd generation system, the IMT-2000 system is also under strong influence of interferences among active subscribers in the multiple access environment. That is, in multiple access environment, signals from one subscriber could interfere with others in the same cell or in the neighboring cells. The interference control in the IMT-2000 systems is much more difficult then the interference control in the 2ndgeneration CDMA cellular systems, since the transmitted power of a subcriber might be different that of others in the IMT-2000 system. In this paper, a parallel interference cancellation with traffic discrimination is proposed which can effectively cancel interferences by grouping the subscribers into several equi-power classes. As a conclusion, simulation results show that the proposed method outperforms the conventional partial PIC scheme in several aspects.

  • In this paper, the new algorithm for blind adaptive decorrelating parallel interference canceller detector in direct-sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) synchronous communication systems is proposed. The goal of this paper is to improve the performance of the blind adaptive decorrelating parallel interference cancellation detector (BAD/PIC). The proposed blind adaptive decorrelating detector is using optimum step-size technique bootstrap algorithm as an initial stage of PIC, which does not require a training sequence. Therefore, this algorithm has a superior view of utilizing bandwidth and reduces the complexity of computation of inversion cross-correlation matrix. The computer simulation results show that the bit error rate performance of the proposed algorithm for the new structure of detector is better than that of the other detectors such as matched filters, the conventional PIC, and the blind adaptive decorrelating PIC detector.

  • DS-CDMA 시스템에서 다중 사용자간섭에 의한 성능 저하를 방지하기 위하여 비교적 구조가 간단하고, 성능이 우수한 병렬 간섭제거기가 이용된다. 본 논문에서는 병렬간섭제거기에 이용되는 기존 검파기의 파라미터의 최적화를 통하여 적응 병렬간섭제거기의 성능을 분석하고, 새로운 시험검파기인 HTNZ 검파방식을 제안한다. 적응 병렬간섭제거기는 기존의 부분 병렬간섭제거기에서 사용하는 고정된 값의 가중치를 NLMS 적응 알고리즘을 이용하여 적응적으로 계산하는 방법을 사용하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과 제안하는 방법이 기존의 hard 검파방식에 비해 사용자 용량이 57% 증가하는 향상된 결과를 얻었다.

  • This paper studies the channel estimation schemes of Time Division Duplex (TDD) Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) system with a parallel interference canceller (PIC) in multi-path fading channels. furthermore, the effective interpolation method which maintains the flexibility of UTRA TDD mode is proposed. By Monte Carlo simulations, it is verified that the proposed interpolation method can be used in order to obtain the proper performance of a multi-stage PIC and in order to reduce the required Eb/No for a given bit error rate (BER).

  • 본 논문에서는 MAI 제거 기법으로서 다단병렬간섭제거기 (MPIC : Multistage Parallel Interference Canceller) 와 부분 다단병렬간섭제거기 (partial MPIC) 및 다치진폭계수를 이용한 MPIC를 채용한 비동기 (asynchronous) DS-CDMA/M-ary QAM 시스템의 성능 개선을 이론적으로 분석하고 이를 검증하기 위한 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다.연구결과에서 MPIC, partial MPIC 및 다치진폭계수를 이용한 MPIC를 실제 시스템에 적용하여 구현할 경우 BER 성능, 채널용량 개선, 신호처리 계산량 및 하드웨어 복잡도 사이에 타협 (trade-off) 이 필요하다.
