  • In this paper the forming simulations of ellipse bulge have been researched by using $PAM-STAMP_{TM}$ to estimate the sheet metal forming and the plastic deformation characteristic of ellipse bulge. Thin elliptical diaphragms of brass, copper, aluminum, and mild steel are bulged in elliptical dies having aspect ratios of 1.33 and 2. In order to compare the simulation results with the experiment and ellipse bulge's theory derived by using Johnson and Duncan's theory, the relations of hydraulic pressure and polar height, polar thickness strain and polar height, were compared. According to this study, the results of simulation and ellipse bulge's theory derived by using Johnson and Duncan's theory, and the bursting pressure and the bursting polar height are good agreement to the experiment. So, the results of simulation by using $PAM-STAMP_{TM}$ and the ellipse bulge's theory will give engineers good information to make assessment the formability and plastic deformation characteristic of hydraulic ellipse bulge test.

  • This paper presents a new design method of truss bridges using advanced analysis. In this approach, separate member capacity checks encompassed by the specification equations are not required because the stability of separate members and the structure as a whole can be treated rigorously for the determination of the maximum strength of the structures. The method is developed and refined by modifications to the conventional elastic-plastic hinge method. Verification studies are carried out by comparing with the plastic-zone solutions. The load-deflection behavior of the truss shows a good agreement between the plastic-zone analysis. A case study is provided for a truss bridge. Member sizes determined by the proposed method are compared with those determined by the conventional method. It is concluded that the proposed method is suitable for adoption in practice.

  • While spatial plastic mechanism analysis has been widely and successfully applied to thinwalled steel structures to analyse the post-failure behaviour of sections and connections, there remains some contention in the literature as to the basic capacity of an inclined yield line. The simple inclined hinge commonly forms as part of the more complex spatial mechanism, which may involve a number of hinges perpendicular or inclined to the direction of thrust. In this paper some of the existing theories are compared with single inclined yield lines that form in flange outstands, by comparing the theories with plate tests of plates simply supported on three sides with the remaining (longitudinal) edge free. The existing mechanism theories do not account for different in-plane displacement gradients of the loaded edge, nor the slenderness of the plates, and produce conservative results. A modified theory is presented whereby uniform and non-uniform in-plane displacements of the loaded edge of the flange, and the slenderness of the flange, are accounted for. The modified theory is shown to compare well with the plate test data, and its application to flanges that are components of sections in compression and/or bending is presented.

  • In case of an urban tunnel, the displacement of ground base controls the tunnel design because it is built on shallow and unconsolidated ground many times. There are more insufficiency to describe the ground movement which coincides in the measured result of the situ because the design of an urban tunnel is dependent on the method of numerical analysis used to the existing elastic and elasto-plastic models. We studied about the prediction for the ground movement of a shallow tunnel in unconsolidated ground, mechanism of collapse, and settlement. Also this paper shows comparison with the existing elastic and elasto-plastic model using the unlinear analysis of the strain-softening model. We can model the real ground movement as the increasement of ground surface inclination or occurrence of shear band by using strain-softening model for the result of ground movement of an urban NATM tunnel.

  • Reliability of PBGA(Plastic Ball Grid Array) package is very weak compared with normal plastic packages. The reliability are the lower resistance to popcorn cracking, which is reduced by moisture absorption in PCB(Printed Circuit Board). This paper adapts plasma treatment process and analyzes their effect. The contents of C and Cl decrease after plasma treatment but O, Ca and N relatively increase. The Plasma treatment to improve the adhesion between EMC(Epoxy Molding Compound) and PCB(solder mask). The degree of improvement was over 100% Max., which is depend on the properties of EMC. Ar+H$_2$as plasma gas show good result. There is a little difference in RF power and treatment time.

  • The welding residual stresses produced by welding frequently cause a crack and promote stress corrosion etc. in heat affected zone contained with external load and weakness of material. For the purpose pof relaxation of welding residual stress, post welding heat teratment(PWHT) is widely used. In this paper, the computer program which is based on Thermal-Elasto-plastic-creep theory for plane deformation on developed by finite element method (F.E.M) and verified its propriety by experimental measurement and also by using the developed computer program. The mechanical behavior of butt welding joint is clairfied during PWHT.

  • Studies have proved that the mechanical properties of concrete, suddenly is dropped off with employing waste materials as replacements. The effectiveness of fibre addition on the structural stability of concrete has been indicated in recent investigations. There are different waste aggregates and fibres as plastic, rubber tire, coconut, and other natural wastes, which have been evaluated throughout the last decades. The fibres incorporation has a substantial effect on the properties of concrete mix subjected to different loading scenarios. This paper has reviewed different types of wastes and the effect of typical fibres including Poly Ethylene Terephthalate (PET), rubber tire, and waste glass. Furthermore, waste plastic and waste rubber has been especially studied in this review. Although concretes containing PET fibre revealed a reduction in compressive strength at low fibre fractions, using PET is resulted to micro-cracking decrement and increasing flexibility and flexural strength. Finally, according to the reviews, the conventional waste fibres are well-suited to mitigated time-induced damages of concrete and waste fibres and aggregates could be a reliable replacement for concrete.

  • In heavy industrial fields such as power plant and chemical plant, it is often necessary to restore a damaged part of large machinery or structure which is installed in the hazard working place. In this paper, to evaluate the safety of plastic deformed cylindrical beam a finite element technique has been used. The variations of residual stresses on the process of damaging and restoring for surfaces and cross-sections have been examined. The results show that the maximum von Mises stresses occur outer cylinder surfaces of boundary between cylindrical beam support md cylindrical beam when deformation procedure and restoring force is applied. The maximum residual stress remains 158.6MPa in the inner wall and this value correspond to $53\%$ of yield stress then restoration procedure is finished.

  • The transformer tank is pressurized by atmosphere at the time of vacuum oiling and, plastic deformation occurs at the section of stress concentration on transformer tank at this time. It is important to predict where the sections of stress are in order to prevent deformation and to add reinforcement. This paper presents prediction results where the sections of stress are occurred and whether plastic deformation occur or not, using structure analysis program(ANSYS-design program).

  • This paper deals with the fabrication of 4 poles anisotropic Sr·ferrite plastic magnets. After Polyamide6 and polyamlde12 are kneaded respectively with Sr·ferrite powder, silane coupling and calcium stearate of lwt% are added for coating and pelleting. The pelleted specimen are injection-moulded under the magnetic field using 4 poles mould. For 4 poles anisotropic Sr·ferrite plastic magnets with polyamide6 as a binder, the surface magnetic flux density distribution is +943.8∼-943.87kG and the deviation is 5.2%, where as with polyamide12, the distribution is +1040.9∼-1040.9kG and the deviation is 5.4%. It shows that both of the magnet distributions are stable. As the results of the experiments, we find 4 poles anisotropic Sr·ferrite magnets have good properties as the materials appropriate for manufacturing magnet type synchronous motors.
