A Study on Verification of NC Code of Multi-spindles Drilling for Tube Sheet in Heat Exchanger (열교환기 Tube Sheet의 다축드릴가공 검증에 관한 연구)

  • A verification of multi-spindles drilling NC data is presented. The drilling of multi-spindles can offer productivity over three times as fast as that of single spindle. The most important things in machining tube sheet are precision of hole position and machining time. The drilling of multi-spindles has difficulties in controlling many motors to drive spindles and assign a correspondent number to each spindles. Multi-spindles drilling has different codes from CNC milling ; many subroutines, assignment of spindle, and so on. The conventional method, which inspects the NC code of the drilling, is to drill holes on a thin plate or tube sheet previously. The method results in low productivity because it consumed long machining time and welding for correction. This paper describes details of multi-spindles NC code and operation of multi-spindles drilling machine. A verification software of the multi-spindles drilling NC code is developed on the details.

  • Condenser tube has been used as a component of heat exchanger in automobile and air conditioning apparatus. In this paper, porthole die extrusion that is advantageous to form long hollow section tube is analyzed by direct extrusion of condenser tube with 12 holes. A study on extrusion process is performed through the 3D FE simulation at non-steady state and extrusion experiments. Especially, weldability, extrusion load and die defects were estimated try FE-simulation. This study present the redesigned die of direct extrusion in consideration of the results obtained from FE-analysis.

  • In high-speed vehicle, selection of fuel, configuration of components and cooling system are required to solve the heating issue by aerodynamic heating and inner combustion process. This subsystem consists of fuel tank, supply pump, various control valve, heat exchanger, including reactor, connecting line, adiabatic structures and insulations. In this paper, applicable fuel property is considered at flight characteristic of hypersonic vehicles. In this regard, current state of fuel/cooling system technology is identified.

  • If proper design and selection of the working fluid are made the power generation system of temperature difference could achieve more efficient results than others. This paper is to analysis the production of its power generation due to several parameters. Making the power generation system, the characteristics of power output are investigated to obtain its basic data for design. This results of this experiment are as follows. 1. The most proper working fluid in the system is Freon-22 having high stability and difference between the outlet pressure, $P_E$ of evaporator and outlet pressure, $P_c$ of Condenser. 2. With the increase of temperature difference between evaporator and condenser, the output in the system increases linearly. 3. The generation efficiency is largely dependent on the type or form of propeller, nozzle and optimum design of heat exchanger.

  • This paper presents an analysis to predict thermal behaviors of water in ice storage tank during the coldness release process. To deal with complicated transient phenomena due to ice-water phase change and the density inversion, a theoretical model which consists of initial perfectly mixed, stratified and thermal diffusion state was introduced and a criterion on the growth of thermal boundary layer was developed. The analysis includes considerations on the type of ice-making heat exchanger, refrigerator on/off and tank arrangement. Also, discussions on the various parameters and operating conditions which have influence on the performance of the system were made. Finally, simulated results were shown, which agreed with experiments in trends reasonably.

  • Vibration and Noise of air conditioner are entirely determined by compressor vibration. Compressor vibration transmitted to the enclosure of air conditioner or Pipes connected compressor with heat exchanger. Enclosure generated noise and vibration. Therefore, the analysis of compressor vibration analysis is considered significant technical issue. For the reduction of vibration of compressor, it is necessary to grasp correctly vibration transmission paths and excitation sources in the compressor shell. Because, shell (Surface of compressor) shows whole vibration characteristic of compressor mechanism. In this paper, vibration intensity was applied to measure vibration energy flow on the shell. From this technique, it is possible to catch the path of vibration propagation along the one cycle and the location of vibration energy sources may change with time on the shell.

  • The objectives of this paper are to develop an advanced GAX cycle named HGAX (Hybrid Generator Absorber heat exchanger) cycle, and to study the effect of key parameters on the cycle performance and the hot-water temperature from the condenser. New types of the HGAX cycle are developed by adding a compressor between the generator and the condenser- Type C (performance improvement and reduction of the generator temperature) and Type D (Hot-water temperature application). The solution temperature in the generator outlet is reduced to 168$^{\circ}C$ with the COP improvement of 19% compared to the standard GAX cycle. The hot-water temperature from the condenser is raised to 106$^{\circ}C$ for panel heating (Ondol heating) application.

  • Most parts of facilities in domestic petroleum plants and power plants are needed to be abandoned, repaired or replaced, because in Korea they were built in the 1960s and, they have been used under severe conditions and exposed corrosive environments. 2.25Cr- lMo steels have excellent high-temperature mechanical properties. Therefore, the material have been widely used as heat exchanger tubes, boiler headers and its tubes in such industries. But, those microstructural evolutions in high temperature such as precipitation and carbide coarsening give a reason to degrade the material. Especially, in case of this material, carbides induced embrittlement(CIE) is the primary reason for degrading mechanical properties at over 50$0^{\circ}C$. In this paper, we introduce a electrochemical polarization method for detecting CIE quantitatively.

  • This paper deals with analysis of material handling system efficiency of a heat-exchanger manufacturing line. This line is a typical flow shop type assembly line which consists of 10 steps of assembly stations. Each station have one or two workers who assemble and move components for the job, and no special transporters for component's movement. Therfore, all the workers are involoved in unnecessary moving activities which decrease overall production efficiencies of the line. To improve productivities, production outputs and worker's job performances for this assembly line, the several alternatives are considered such as installing new conveyor lines and automatic guided vehicle(AGV) system. Analyzing economic feasibilities and responses of the system alternatives, an experimental simulation model is built suing SIMAN Ver. 3. 5 simulation language with CINEMA package for animation of the process flow. Through this animation process a vivid picturial analysis could performed on the process flow.

  • In this paper, a novel processing technique for fabrication of high-temperature MEMS based on polymer-derived SiCN microstructures is described. PDMS molds are fabricated on SU-8 photoresist using standard UV-photolithographic processes. Liquid precursors are injected into the PDMS mold. And then, the resulting solid polymer structures are crosslinked under isostatic pressure, and pyrolyzed to form a ceramic capable of withstanding over $1500^{\circ}C$. These fabricated SiCN structures would be applied for high-temperature applications, such as heat exchanger and combustion chamber.
