다공질 금속의 제조와 응용 (Production Processes of Porous Metals and Their Applications)

  • Porous metals are called as a new material of 21th century because they show not only extremely low density, but also novel physical, thermal, mechanical, electrical, and acoustic properties. Since the late in the 1990's, considerable progress has been made in the production technologies of many kinds of porous metals such as aluminum, titanium, nickel, copper, stainless steel, etc. The commercial applications of porous metals have been increased in the field of light weight structures, sound absorption, mechanical damping, bio-materials, thermal management for heat exchanger and heat sink. Especially, the porous metals are promising in automotive applications for light-weighting body sheets and various structural components due to the good relation between weight and stiffness. This paper reviews the recent progress of production techniques using molten metal bubbling, metal foaming, gas expansion, hollow sphere structure, unidirectional solidification, etc, which have been commercialized or under developing, and finally introduces several case studies on the potential applications of porous metals in the area of heat sink, automotive pannel, cathod for Ni-MH battery, golf putter and medical implant.

태양광열 시스템의 신뢰성 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Reliability Assesment of Solar Photovoltaic and Thermal Collector System)

  • Photovoltaic and Thermal collector (PV/T) systems are renewable energy devices that can produce electricity and heat energy simultaneously using solar panels and heat exchangers. Since PV/T systems are exposed to the outdoors, their reliability is affected by various environmental factors. This paper presents a reliability test for a PV/T system and evaluates the test results. The reliability assessment entails performance, environment, safety, and life tests. The factor that had the greatest influence on the life of the system was the hydraulic pressure applied to the heat exchanger. A test was conducted by repeatedly applying pressure to the PV/T system, and a reliability analysis was conducted based on the test results. As a result, the shape parameter (β) value of 5.6658 and the B10life 308,577 cycles at the lower 95% confidence interval were obtained.

환상유로에 있어서 수직고온관의 과도적 냉각과정에 관한 연구 (A study on the transient cooling process of a vertical-high temperature tube in an annular flow channel)

  • In the case of boiling on high temperature wall, vapor film covers fully or parcially the surface. This phenomenon, film boiling or transition boiling, is very important in the surface heat treatment of metal, design of cryogenic heat exchanger and emergency cooling of nuclear reactor. Mainly supposed hydraulic-thermal accidents in nuclear reactor are LCCA (Loss of Coolant Accident) and PCM (Power-Cooling Mismatch). Recently, world-wide studies on reflooding of high temperature rod bundles after the occurrence of the above accidents focus attention on wall temperature history and required time in transient cooling process, wall superheat at rewet point, heat flux-wall superheat relationship beyond the transition boiling region, and two-phase flow state near the surface. It is considered that the further systematical study in this field will be in need in spite of the previous results in ref. (2), (3), (4). The paper is the study about the fast transient cooling process following the wall temperature excursion under the CHF (Critical Heat Flux) condition in a forced convective subcooled boiling system. The test section is a vertically arranged concentric annulus of 800 mm long and 10 mm hydraulic diameter. The inner tube, SUS 304 of 400 mm long, 8 mm I.D, and 7 mm O.D., is heated uniformly by the low voltage AC power. The wall temperature measurements were performed at the axial distance from the inlet of the heating tube, z=390 mm. 6 chromel- alumel thermocouples of 76 .mu.m were press fitted to the inner surface of the heating tube periphery. To investigate the heat transfer characteristics during the fast transient cooling process, the outer surface (fluid side) temperature and the surface heat flux are computed from the measured inner surface temperature history by means of a numerical method for inverse problems of transient heat conduction. Present cooling (boiling) curve is sufficiently compared with the previous results.

지중 열교환기용 멘토나이트 뒤채움재의 화학적, 물리적 영향 요소에 관한 연구 (Chemical and Physical Influence Factors on Performance of Bentonite Grouts for Backfilling Ground Heat Exchanger)

  • 벤토나이트는 팽윤성이 좋고 투수계수가 낮아 수직 밀폐형 지중 열교환기 시공 시 보어홀(borehole)의 뒤채움재로 널리 사용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 국내에서 사용되는 3가지 벤토나이트를 선정하여 배합비에 따른 점도와 열전도도를 평가하였다. 시공 조건에 따라 다양한 벤토나이트 뒤채움재의 함수비를 고려하여 점도와 열전도도 특성을 규명하기 위해 벤토나이트를 배합비(벤토나이트 무게/(벤토나이트+물) 무게) 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%로 배합하고 시간에 따른 점도와 열전도도를 측정하였다. 그리고 벤토나이트 뒤채움재가 해안지역에서 시공될 경우 지하수의 염도에 의한 영향을 검토하기 위해 배합수의 NaCl 농도가 0.1M, 0.25M, 0.5M일 때 벤토나이트 뒤채움재의 침강 특성을 관찰하였다. 벤토나이트 뒤채움재의 낮은 점도로 인해 천연규사와 같은 첨가재가 지중 열교환기 바닥에 침전될 경우 발생할 수 있는 재료분리 현상을 저점도 벤토나이트 뒤채움재를 사용하여 실험을 통해 규명하였으며 그 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻을 수 있었다. (1) 벤토나이트 뒤채움재의 점도는 시간이 지남에 따라 또는 배합비가 증가함에 따라 상승하는 경향을 나타내며 벤토나이트 뒤채움재의 열전도도는 배합비가 증가하면 상승하지만 통일한 배합비에서는 시간에 따른 변화가 미미하다. (2) 벤토나이트 뒤채움재의 팽창지수가 높을수록 배합수의 NaCl 농도에 따른 침강율은 상대적으로 낮게 나타난다. (3) 저점도 벤토나이트 뒤채움재는 첨가재의 재료분리로 인해 보어홀 내의 깊이별 첨가재 분포를 비균질하게 하므로 보어홀 상부의 열전도도가 하부에 비해 작게 나타날 수 있는 가능성이 있다.

  • This paper describes the analysis of extrusion process and integrity for the condenser tube which is component of the heat exchanger in automobile and air conditioning apparatus. As development of the analysis method using computer, recently. It have been applied to the 3-dimensional hot extrusion process with complex section area of the non-steady statement and then results of the analysis have been applied to optimal die design and process design. As the result, this paper confirmed that used extrusion die of the research is satisfactorily designed to dimensional accuracy. And the stress point of view, condenser tube confirmed that it was influenced by the flow pressure of alternative regrigerants.

패턴 인식에 의한 새로운 자동조정 PI제어기 (A New Auto-Tuning PI Controller by Pattern Recognition)

  • This paper describes the procedures for pre-tuning and re-tuning the gains of PI controller based on output patterns -output error integral- of the unknown process which may not have any information, for example, system order, deadtime, time constant, etc. The key ideas of the proposed adaptive scheme are as follows. The scheme determines the initial gains by using ZNM (Ziegler-Nichols Method) with relay feedback, and then the adaptive algorithms by pattern recognition are introduced for re-runing the PI gains with on-line scheme whenever control conditions are changed. Because, among the various auto-tuning procedures, ANM with relay feedback has the difficulty in re-tuning with on-line and Bristol method has no comment on initial settings and has variables to pre-determine, which makes the algorithm comples, the proposed methods have the combined scheme with above two procedures to recover those problems. And this paper proposes a simple way to determine adaptive constant in Bristol method. To show the validity of the proposed method, an example is illustrated by computer simulation and a laboratory process, heat exchanger, is experimented.

  • This paper reviews the latest studies of the expander cycle Air Turbo Ramjet engine (ATREX) conducted in JAXA. First, a system analysis including the vehicle and trajectory was conducted to optimize the engine cycle and turbo-machine configuration. We selected the precooled turbo-jet cycle for a prototype engine using the near term technologies. Second, a system ground-firing test was conducted to verify a defrosting system for the precooler. Methanol injection with its particles atomization could compensate 80 % of pressure loss caused by the frost. Thirdly, a feasibility of carbon/carbon composites for the engine components was investigated by making complex shapes such as a heat exchanger and a plug nozzle. Basic technologies on the gas leakage, the junction and bonding were also studied. The end of the paper, some basic studies such as wind tunnel tests of a new type air inlet and a plug nozzle are described.

  • Cold start driving cycles exhibit an increases in friction losses due to the low temperatures of metal components and media compared to the normal operating engine conditions. These friction losses are adversely affected to fuel economy. Therefore, in recent years, various techniques for the improvement of fuel economy at cold start driving cycles have been introduced. The main techniques are the upward control of coolant temperature and the fast warm-up techniques. In particular, the fast warm-up techniques are implemented with the coolant flow-controlled water pump and the WHRS (waste heat recovery system). This paper deals with an effect of fast ATF (automatic transmission fluid) warm-up on fuel economy using a recovery system of EGR gas waste heat in a diesel engine. On a conventional diesel engine, two ATF coolers have been connected in series, i.e., an air-cooled ATF cooler is placed in front of the condenser of air conditioning system and a water-cooled one is embedded into the radiator header. However, the new system consists of only a water-cooled heat exchanger that has been changed into the integrated structure with an EGR cooler to have the engine coolant directly from the EGR cooler. The ATF cooler becomes the ATF warmer and cooler, i.e., it plays a role of an ATF warmer if the temperature of ATF is lower than that of coolant, and plays a role of an ATF cooler otherwise. Chassis dynamometer experiments demonstrated the fuel economy improvement of over 2.5% with rapid increase in the ATF temperature.

태양열 이용 비프레온계 $CF_3CH_2F$(R-134a)적용 열펌프시스템에 의한 학교교실 난방에 관한 연구(II) (The performance of solar heat pump with non-freon refrigerant $CF_3CH_2F$(R-134a) for school classroom heating[II])

  • 본 연구는 R-12($CF_2Cl_2F$) 대체냉매인 R-134a($CF_3CH_2F$) 적용 태양열 열펌프시스템에 의하여 학교교실($20{\sim}25$평형)이나 학교 화장실($13{\sim}17$평형)의 난방에 관한 것으로서 대체냉매 적용할 때 시스템의 안정성과 성능에 관해 실험되어졌다. 학교교실 난방을 위한 방법 중에서 온풍난방을 택하여 실험하였는데 대체냉매 적용 실제와 모형시스템의 난방성능을 비교 해석하였다. 이 결과를 근거로 R-22($CHClF_2$)와 그 대체냉매들에 대한 성능을 예측하였다. 서울지방 봄 가을철, 겨울철의 외기 온도에서 실내온도가 $18{\sim}20^{\circ}C,\;23{\sim}25^{\circ}C$로 유지할 수 있도록 설계 제작되었다.

USING LOW-VOLTAGE-HIGH-FREQUENCY ELECTRIC FIELD TO MITIGATE MINERAL FOULING IN A HEAT EXCHANGER

  • This paper presents an investigative study on the efficacy of a new physical water treatment (PWT) technology using an oscillating electric field to mitigate mineral fouling in heat exchangers. Parallel graphite electrode plates immersed in water were used to generate the electric field directly in water. Artificial hard water at 500 ppm hardness was used in all fouling tests. The inlet temperatures were maintained at 23.5${\pm}$0.5$^{\circ}C$ and 85${\pm}$0.5$^{\circ}C$ for cold and hot water sides, respectively. The results at a cold water-side velocity of 0.3 m/s showed a 16-60% drop in fouling resistances from the baseline test depending on the frequency of the electric field for the PWT-treated cases.
