LED visible light communication and their application (LED 가시광 통신시스템과 그 응용)

  • LED(Light Emitting Diode) is an emitting device which energy is same to the bandgap energy of p-type and n-type semiconductor junction. Recently high brightness LED is used in fish-luring light and traffic signal light alternative of normal light bulb, and widely used in the area of display pannel. Moreover nowadays LED has been used as a back light of LCD display. Recently, visible light communication(VLC) using LED, that allow two-way serial data communication between LEDs over a distance of sveral centimeters or meters, has been widely studied in the area of digital information transmission along with illumination and display. In this paper, we present LED communication system and their applications.

Prevention of Oil Stain on Steel Induced by Fat and Oil Compounds (유지화합물에 의해 생성된 철판의 기름얼룩 방지)

  • An oil stain on the steel induced by metal working oil was studied on the six kinds of fat and oil compounds(rapeseed oil, oleic acid, methyl oleate, oleyl alcohol, lauryl amino, and lanolin) by MIL-C-22235A test. The samples used for the printing on the oil stain plates were prepared by the addition of fat and oil compounds(10wt% ) and antioxidants(B. H. T, B. T, T. C. P; 0.5wt%) to base oil(spindle oil; 1.5wt% of sulfur). An analysis based on the experimental data indicated that B.T was more effective than B. H. T and T. C. P as antioxidant for inhibiting oil stains. And acid values exerted a bad influence upon the preventation of oil stains. As expected by the chemical structure of fat and oil compound, oleic acid that could react with iron ions produced more stains on the steel pannel.

The Influence of the Social Participation on the Suicide Ideation of the Elderly : Focused on the Mediating Effects of the Life Satisfaction and the Depression (사회참여가 노인의 자살생각에 미치는 영향 : 생활만족도와 우울의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • This study's aim was to prove the mediating effects of the life satisfaction and the depression in the path which the social participant has predicted the suicide ideation of the elderly. To do so, a total of 1,429 cases above 65 years old were selected as a analysis object form the Seoul Welfare Pannel Data(2010). And this study has applied the Structural Equation Modeling of AMOS 18.0 as analysis method. The analysis results were as below through presented analysis method. Firstly, this study has proved the effect of the direct path that the social participant predicted the depression of the elderly. Secondly, this study has demonstrated the effect of the mediating paths through the life satisfaction and the depression. On the basis of presented analysis results, this study proposed the intervention plan about the suicide of the elderly and the suggestion for follow-up study.

Effects of Depression and Self-Esteem on Life Satisfaction of the Elderly: Comparison between Elderly People Who Live Alone and Those Who Live with Others (노인의 우울감과 자아존중감이 생활만족도에 미치는 영향: 독거노인과 비독거노인의 비교를 중심으로)

  • This study examined the effects of antecedent variables on life satisfaction of elderly people who live alone and who live with others by comparing the levels of depression, self-esteem, and life satisfaction. Using the 15th data of the Korean Welfare Panel held in 2020, independent sample t-test and hierarchical regression analysis were conducted. Elderly people who live alone had a high sense of depression, low self-esteem, and low life satisfaction. For both of them, the older the age and the higher the income level, the higher the life satisfaction. The regression model, which added depression and self-esteem, had a significant effect on both of them, but the effect of self-esteem was higher (𝛽=.40, .41) than that of depression (𝛽=-.28, -.29). The effects of depression and self-esteem on life satisfaction were higher in elderly people who live alone (R2=.409) than in elderly people who live with others (R2=.398). Based on the research results, this study suggested appropriate policies and practice directions to enhance self-esteem and improve life satisfaction of elderly people who live alone.

A Study on the Financial Performance for Nonprofit Performing Arts Organizations: Focusing on American Symphony Orchestras (비영리 공연조직의 재정성과에 관한 연구 - 미국오케스트라를 중심으로 -)

  • This study examines financial performance of nonprofit performing arts organizations to provide concrete suggestions and improve their financial performance so that they can build strategies to continue organizational activities. This study investigates empirical data of IRS 990 tax form of top 73 US orchestras and analyzed GLS pannel. Dependent variables are measured as contributions and ticket sales, and independent variables are measured as economic environment, cultural capital, orchestra characters, government grants, and social capital. Based on the finding from the research, determination of contribution outcomes is positively affected by state employment and orchestra's internal characteristics including age, size and conductor's US nationality, government grants, and volunteer. Ticket sales are affected by employment, education level, orchestra's resources, government grants, and volunteer. However, a size of cultural market negatively influences on financial outcomes and cultural capital doesn't influence on results. Interesting finding is a relationship between volunteers and organizations is vital of their fiscal achievement. This is significant in empirical analysis on nonprofit performing arts organizations from an economic view point, and will contribute on organizations to improve their strategic plan to sustain a business.

An Iterative, Interactive and Unified Seismic Velocity Analysis (반복적 대화식 통합 탄성파 속도분석)

  • Among the various seismic data processing sequences, the velocity analysis is the most time consuming and man-hour intensive processing steps. For the production seismic data processing, a good velocity analysis tool as well as the high performance computer is required. The tool must give fast and accurate velocity analysis. There are two different approches in the velocity analysis, batch and interactive. In the batch processing, a velocity plot is made at every analysis point. Generally, the plot consisted of a semblance contour, super gather, and a stack pannel. The interpreter chooses the velocity function by analyzing the velocity plot. The technique is highly dependent on the interpreters skill and requires human efforts. As the high speed graphic workstations are becoming more popular, various interactive velocity analysis programs are developed. Although, the programs enabled faster picking of the velocity nodes using mouse, the main improvement of these programs is simply the replacement of the paper plot by the graphic screen. The velocity spectrum is highly sensitive to the presence of the noise, especially the coherent noise often found in the shallow region of the marine seismic data. For the accurate velocity analysis, these noise must be removed before the spectrum is computed. Also, the velocity analysis must be carried out by carefully choosing the location of the analysis point and accuarate computation of the spectrum. The analyzed velocity function must be verified by the mute and stack, and the sequence must be repeated most time. Therefore an iterative, interactive, and unified velocity analysis tool is highly required. An interactive velocity analysis program, xva(X-Window based Velocity Analysis) was invented. The program handles all processes required in the velocity analysis such as composing the super gather, computing the velocity spectrum, NMO correction, mute, and stack. Most of the parameter changes give the final stack via a few mouse clicks thereby enabling the iterative and interactive processing. A simple trace indexing scheme is introduced and a program to nike the index of the Geobit seismic disk file was invented. The index is used to reference the original input, i.e., CDP sort, directly A transformation techinique of the mute function between the T-X domain and NMOC domain is introduced and adopted to the program. The result of the transform is simliar to the remove-NMO technique in suppressing the shallow noise such as direct wave and refracted wave. However, it has two improvements, i.e., no interpolation error and very high speed computing time. By the introduction of the technique, the mute times can be easily designed from the NMOC domain and applied to the super gather in the T-X domain, thereby producing more accurate velocity spectrum interactively. The xva program consists of 28 files, 12,029 lines, 34,990 words and 304,073 characters. The program references Geobit utility libraries and can be installed under Geobit preinstalled environment. The program runs on X-Window/Motif environment. The program menu is designed according to the Motif style guide. A brief usage of the program has been discussed. The program allows fast and accurate seismic velocity analysis, which is necessary computing the AVO (Amplitude Versus Offset) based DHI (Direct Hydrocarn Indicator), and making the high quality seismic sections.
