  • An indirect concept and method is proposed to predict the paint dry time at the inside wall of ship block. To implement this concept on computer program, optimal hot air supply-exhaust system of paint dry facility was designed by CFD simulation and experiment was performed to get the paint dry time curve according to various paint dry conditions. After combining the block inside environment from the simulation results and the paint dry time prediction curve from the curve-fitting of experimental result, the GUI program which can be executed in general PC OS has been finally developed.

자동차 도장시설에서 발생하는 유해대기오염물질 및 미세먼지의 배출특성에 관한 연구 (The Study on the Emission Characteristics of HAPs and PM from the Motor Vehicle Paint Facility)

  • This study is about emission characteristics of HAPs and particulate matters emitted by spray of paint and organic solvent usually used in vehicle paint facilities. To analyze emission characteristics of HAPs and particulate matters emitted from vehicle paint facilities are calculated based on the measuring emission quantity of pollutants based on the amount of paint used (kg) and unit area ($m^2$) by paint manufacturers (J company, K company, and R company). In cases of paint manufacturers (J, K, and R), average emission factors of VOCs, carbonyl compound, particulate matter, and PAHs per 1 kg of paint were 327.81 g/kg, 5.98 g/kg, 336.70 g/kg, and 0.0078 g/kg respectively. The average emission factors of VOCs, carbonyl compounds, particulate matters, and PAHs by unit area were $171.55g/m^2$, $3.10g/m^2$, $176.27g/m^2$, and $0.0036g/m^2$ respectively.

  • The paint removal of fighter jets is just as important as the painting, because perfect paint removal ensures the quality of the exterior painting on the aircraft. However, the current conditions for paint removal work of the ROKAF's are poor. It is identified that the painting process currently implemented by the ROKAF is not only exposed to harmful compounds such as harmful dust and hexavalent chromium, but also consumes a lot of water. Thus, the introduction of advanced facility is considered. This study compares the fighter jets painting removal process currently applied by the Korean Air Force with the improved laser coating removal process of the US Air Force, and conducts an incremental analysis to perform economic analysis for the introduction of advanced facility. Four scenarios were envisioned on the premise of an increase in the number of fighters in the future, incremental analysis shows that laser coating removal method is advantageous in all scenarios. In addition, it is recommended that paint removal cycle keeps the current 12-year and the outsourcing amount to civilian depot is reduced.

다중이용시설의 피난방화문에 관한 연구 (Study of evacuation fire doors in multiple facilities)

  • 피난방화문이란 기존에 성능을 인정받은 방화문의 전면에 축광도료를 바르고 손잡이 부근에는 시온도료를 발라 제작한 방화문으로 기존에 방화설비로만 사용되었던 방화문에 피난 및 안전 기능을 추가, 방화문 자체가 피난설비로서의 기능을 겸용하는 설비이다. 피난안전방화문의 휘도는 기존의 유도표지 휘도(60분후 7mcd)이상의 성능으로 한국소방산업기술원의 휘도시험을 통과한 설비로, 화재 시 가시성의 면적이 피난구유도등에 비해 크며 연기의 하강에도 방화문 아랫부분의 방광상태가 관찰되어 피난자들의 피난유효 시간을 연장시켜 줄 것으로 사료된다. 손잡이 부근에 발라져 있는 시온도료는 일정온도에 도달하면($70^{\circ}C$) 색상이 변화 위험경고가 방화문 바탕에 나타나게 되어 화재 시 피난자들이 방화문 손잡이에 입을 수 있는 1차 재해를 예방할 수 있으며, 화재공간에 진입을 하여야 하는 소방관들에게는 역화 가능성을 사전에 인지 안전 사고를 예방하는데 도움을 줄 것으로 판단된다.

Unsteady Pressure Measurement of Fan Stator Vane Using Pressure Sensitive Paint

  • The pressure sensitive paint (PSP) technique has been well established in external flow field. However, there are still unresolved issues in internal flow field. This work was focused on the application to unsteady pressure measurement of fan flow field. The PSP measurement system was established and the image processing software was developed. First, the performance of PSP was investigated at the static cell. Then the unsteady PSP measurement was carried out at fan test facility. PSP data images were acquired from the suction and pressure surface of stator vanes. Pressure distributions on the surface of the stator vane were detected non-intrusively. The issues of image acquisition and image processing were clarified through the practical PSP application to fan flow field.

자동차 도장 건조 공정의 건조 성능 향상을 위한 수치해석 연구 (A Numerical Study on the Improvement of the Performance of a Vehicle Paint Drying Process)

  • In the present study, three-dimensional transient numerical simulations were carried out to improve the performance of a vehicle paint drying process. In order to describe the movement of a vehicle, the techniques of moving boundary condition and multiple reference flames (MRF) were used. For the validation of the numerical analysis, the predicted temperature on the surface of a vehicle was compared to the experimental data, and a good agreement was achieved. With validated numerical procedure, various operating conditions of the temperature and the flow rate of the supply air were investigated to improve the drying performance of the facility. It is shown that the optimization of the operating condition can lead to energy savings and faster line speed of the production.

  • 벤츠(현 다임-클라이슬러)자동차회사는 새로운 공장을 미국 앨라배마 주 Vance 지역에 건설하고 이곳 공장으로부터 스포츠-레저용의 4륜 구동 M-class 자동차를 생산하고 있다. 이 벤츠공장의 생산라인은 차체형성공정, 도장공정, 그리고 엔진조립 공정으로 나누어져 있고 이들 생산라인사이에는 한 라인에서의 고장(down)이 다른 라인에 파급되지 않도록 완충라인(Buffer)이 설치되어 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 일정한 비율의 고장률을 각 생산라인에 적용시켰을 때 주어진 생산목표(270대)를 달성할 수 있는지, 만약 달성할 수 없다면 가장 문제가 되는 생산라인은 어디인지, 또 생산라인 사이에 존재하는 완충라인이 어느 정도의 완충역할을 하는지, 최적의 생산능력을 유지하기 위한 완충라인의 크기는 어느 정도인지 등, 각종 생산라인의 운영지침(operation policy)들을 시뮬레이션 기법을 이용하여 탐색한 후 병목생산시설(bottleneck)을 찾아내는 것이다. 본 연구를 위한 시뮬레이션 도구로는 ARENA를 이용했고 20일 간의 시뮬레이션 결과를 종합하여 분석하였다. 또 신뢰구간 95% 범위에서 각 생산라인의 최대 생산능력도 측정하여 실제 생산대수와의 차이를 규명할 수 있는 근거를 제공하였다.

  • Drying and curing characteristics of PCM resins using the induction heater and short-wave infrared emitter module was studied to develop a compact oven system for the high speed CCL and post-treatment equipment. Drying of the polyester resins using the induction heater and infrared heater showed that the blistering tendency of polyester resin coating increased regardless of additives and colors of resins as the heating rate and/or dry film thickness increased. The blistering of polyester resin coating layer occurred when the heating speed was over than $25^{\circ}C/sec$ for the dry film thickness of $19\~20um$, which is the typical thickness of finish coating in CCL. So did it when the heating speed was over than $40^{\circ}C/sec$ for the dry film thickness over than 10 um. The heating efficiency of paint coated steels by the infrared heating was strongly dependent on the colors of paint coating and generally increased for the dark surface and/or coating. But the faster drying of the PCM resin coatings increased the blistering tendency of coating layer. The blistering limit for the typical finish coating by the infrared heating was estimated as the heating rate slower than $20^{\circ}C/sec$ regardless of colors of PCM resins.

Influences of Coatings and Solution Corrosivity on Cathodic Protection of Metallic Materials

  • Painting has protected metallic stack but the paint films may be degraded and corrosion problem can be arisen. To protect the painted metal stack, cathodic protection can be applied. If cathodic protection is applied to bare metal, only small area may be protected. However, if cathodic protection is applied to painted metal surface, large area can be protected and the lifetime of paint films can be extended. High corrosion resistant alloys were corroded at a Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) facility of power plant within a short period and thus cathodic protection can be used to protect these metals. On the base of computer simulation, if cathodic protection is applied to bare metal in a FGD environment, it was estimated that applied current could almost be spent to protect area near the anode. However, if cathodic protection is applied to high resistant-coated metal, the much larger area from the anode could be effectively protected.

  • 본 연구에서는 현재 설계단계에 있는 대전 철도 차량 검수시설 중 도장장에 대한 시뮬레이션 모델링과 DEA기법을 이용하여 작업에 필요한 최적 인력배치방안을 연구하였다. 이를 위해 먼저, 열차 대기시간과 처리량, 그리고 주요설비의 가동률 등을 주요 반응변수로 선정하여 시스템을 시뮬레이션 하였다. 그 후 인력배치 정책과 작업인원수 및 숙련공비율 등의 다양한 의사결정요소들로 설계된 대안들을 DEA기법을 사용하여 필요인력과 그 배치방안을 설계하였다. 총 27개의 대안들 중 기술 및 규모의 효율성(SE)을 모두 만족시키는 4개의 최종 대안을 선정하였으며, 이를 의사결정자들에게 제시하고 인력수급 및 조직개편과 연계하여 추후 운영설계 시 고려하도록 하였다. 이러한 절차를 통해 신규시설 건설시 의사결정자들이 고려해야하는 다양한 요소들을 과학적인 절차를 통해 해결할 수 있는 연구방법을 제시하였다.
