  • Background : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of the kinesio taping on the forward head posture and to reduce secondary pain and attitude transformation by applying kinesio taping. Methods : The subjects were the C university students(n = 30) in Chung-buk district without medical history. They were divided into two groups:experimental group(N = 15) and control group(N = 15). Control group was heard verbal instructions to keep right attitude and Experimental group was applied to kinesio taping. Change of an attitude, such as an angle, distance, CROM, CVA, CRA prices, before and after experiment was measured respectively. Result : The results of this study showed that in comparison of pre and post changes, experimental group noticeable changes in angle, CROMSI and CVA(p<.05). Angle, CROMSI and CVA were significant differed between groups(p<.05). Conclusion : Kinesio taping application was seemed to be effective on the improvement of forward head position. Therefore, it is suggested that Kinesio taping application should be one the potential methods to facillitate the forward head position. Comprehensive research is required about a point of time and duration for intervention in clinical approach for subjects.

Methods: We used herbal medicine, acupuncture, and moxibustion to treat a patient during hospitalization. We observed the changes in symptoms using the European League against Rheumatism $Sj{\ddot{o}}gren^{\prime}s$ Syndrome Patient Reports Index (ESSPRI) and a visual analogue scale (VAS). Results: After treatment for 17 days, the patient's symptoms showed improvement in joint pain, dry eye, and dry mouth. The ESSPRI score was decreased from 10 to 5.3. The VAS for dry mouth and dry eye were decreased from 10 to 6 and from 10 to 5, respectively. Conclusion: This clinical case study suggests that Korean medicine treatment that includes Insamyangyoung-tang-gami could be effective in the treatment of $Sj{\ddot{o}}gren^{\prime}s$ Syndrome.

  • Objectives: This study investigated the effectiveness of acupuncture for improving polycythemia-vera-related symptoms and quality of life. Methods: A 56-year-old woman diagnosed with polycythemia vera received acupuncture treatment between February 19, 2021, and August 26, 2021. We observed the changes in subjective symptoms and conducted myeloproliferative neoplasm symptom assessment form total symptom score (MPN-SAF TSS) questionnaire. Results: After 13 acupuncture treatment sessions over six months, symptoms of polycythemia vera, such as fatigue, bone pain, itching, and headache, improved. Conclusion: This study suggests that acupuncture may be a helpful treatment strategy for polycythemia vera patients suffering from significant symptom burdens and reduced quality of life.

  • Objective: This study examined the effects of dynamic tape applied to the patellofemoral joint on the knee valgus angle, muscle activity, and ground reaction force during a single leg squat (SLS) and single leg landing (SLL). Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: Twenty-four subjects (11 male, 13 female) who met the inclusion criteria were screened by the knee palpation and patella compression tests. First, the knee valgus angle and muscle activity during SLS were measured. Second, the knee valgus angle and ground reaction force during SLL were measured. For the intervention, a patella joint loop using dynamic tape was used. The knee valgus angle, muscle activities in SLS and SLL after the intervention, and the ground reaction force were measured in the same way. A paired t-test was used to examine the difference between before and after the intervention. Results: The knee valgus angle showed a statistically significant improvement after dynamic taping application in SLS and SLL (p<0.05). The differences in muscle activity of the VL/VMO and ground reaction forces were not statistically significant after dynamic taping application in SLS and SLL. Conclusions: This study showed that dynamic taping applied around the patellofemoral joint was effective in improving the knee valgus angle in SLS and SLL and had a reduced risk of secondary injury during sports activity.

  • Objectives: This study aimed to introduce a clinical case of asymptomatic microhematuria due to suspicion of kidney trauma following a motor vehicle accident. Methods: A 19-year-old male was hospitalized with the chief complaint of back pain after a motor vehicle accident. He showed an elevated urine red blood cell (RBC) level in the laboratory test, although no specific traumatic lesions were present on the body. He was assessed to have asymptomatic microhematuria, and Zhu Ling Tang (polyporus decoction) was given to him to be taken three times daily. Results: After the treatment, the level of urine red blood cells returned to normal range. Adverse events were not observed. Conclusions: Zhu Ling Tang caused a short-term improvement in the urinalysis levels of a patient with asymptomatic hematuria. However, further studies are needed, as this study is only a single-case report.

  • Background: The purpose of this study was to the effects of stretching on lumbar flexibility after lumbar and lower muscle strengthening exercise. Design: Randomized Controlled Trial. Methods: 24 subjects without back pain in their twenties were divided into 12 experimental groups and 12 control groups. The experimental group performed a stretching program after muscle strength exercise. In the control group, only muscle strength exercise was performed, and total exercise was performed 24 times a week for 8 weeks to compare and analyze before and after experiment. Results: The results of this study are as follows: 1) There was no statistically significant difference in both before and after weight of experimental group and control group. 2) There was no statistically significant difference in both before and after skeletal muscle levels of experimental group and control group. 3) There was no statistically significant difference in both before and after fat mass of experimental group and control group. 4) There was a statistically significant difference in both before and after trunk forward flexion of experimental group and control group. Conclusion: This research showed a positive affect on increasing flexibility, which is expected to have a great effect on improvement of flexibility in the future.
