The effective power consumption is the primary issue in a sensor network which consists of the sensor nodes with limited battery power. So, most of the MAC protocols in sensor networks have been designed with the consideration of energy efficiency. Generally, these protocols make use of the listen and sleep mode periodically. However, this approach inevitably causes a long transmission delay on the data forwarding path, which is mainly resulted from the sleep time of the receiver node. This paper deals with a design of DT-MAC(Data Transmission centric MAC) protocol, with minimizes the data transmission delay while it forces each node to consume its energy efficiently. Thus, a node received a packet converts its remained sleep time to the pseudo_listen time, in which the node is able to transmit a packet. With benefit of the pseudo_listen period, the data transmission delay along with the data forwarding path will be shortened as much as it possible. Therefore, DT-MAC protocol is very suitable to the various applications which require a real time sensing data such as disaster and fire alarm.

MANET has a weak point because it allows access from not only legal nodes but also illegal nodes. Most of the MANET researches had been focused on attack on routing path or packet forwarding. Nevertheless, there are insuffcient studies on a comprehensive approach to detect various attacks on malicious nodes at packet forwarding processes. In this paper, we propose a technique, named DTecBC (detection technique of malicious node behaviors based on collaboration), which can handle more effciently various types of malicious node attacks on MANET environment. The DTecBC is designed to detect malicious nodes by communication between neighboring nodes, and manage malicious nodes using a maintain table. OPNET tool was used to compare with Watchdog, CONFIDANT, SRRPPnT for verifying effectiveness of our approach. As a result, DTecBC detects various behaviors of malicious nodes more effectively than other techniques.

In order that routers forward a packet to its destination, they perform IP address lookup which determines the next hop according to the packet's destination address. In designing high speed routers, IP address lookup is an important issue. In order to design high speed routers, this paper proposes a parallel IP lookup scheme which consists of several IP lookup engines without any modification of already fabricated indirect IP lookup chipsets. Also, we propose a simple rule for partitioning IP prefix entries In an overall forwarding table among several IP lookup engines. And we evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme in terms of the memory size required for storing lookup information and the number of memory accesses on constructing the forwarding table. With additional hardware logics, the proposed scheme can reduce about 30% of the required memory size and 80% of the memory access counts.

Information theory progression along with the advancements being made in the field of Vehicular Ad hoc NETworks (VANETs) supports the use of coding-aware opportunistic routing for efficient data forwarding. In this work, we propose and investigate an adaptive coding-aware routing scheme in a specific VANET scenario known as a vehicular platoon. Availability of coding opportunities may vary with time and therefore, the accurate identification of available coding opportunities at a specific time is a quite challenging task in the highly dynamic scenario of VANETs. In the proposed approach, while estimating the topology of the network at any time instance, a forwarding vehicle contemplates the composition of multiple unicast data flows to encode the correct data packets that can be decoded successfully at destinations. The results obtained by using OMNeT++ simulator reveal that higher throughput can be achieved with minimum possible packet transmissions through the proposed adaptive coding-aware routing approach. In addition, the proposed adaptive scheme outperforms static transmissions of the encoded packets in terms of coding gain, transmission percentage, and encoded packet transmission. To the best of our knowledge, the use of coding-aware opportunistic routing has not been exploited extensively in available literature with reference to its implications in VANETs.

The current LTE network system provides service by locally allocating eNodeB to the EPC(Evolved Packet Core). However, it is not suitable for inter-node communication based on the distributed network environment. In this paper, we propose an integrated system by configuring E-UTRAN and EPC as All-In-One type to enable service in each distributed node. M2M UE is mounted on a each node for wireless In-band backhaul link. The integrated node provides inter-node communication over the wireless in-band backhaul link. If a normal UE moves and an access node changes in the system all entities of LTE integrated into one, it is necessary to change the P-GW which is IP anchor. In order to support the inter-node mobility even if P-GW is changed, We defined UPFE(User Packet Forwarding Extension) scheme and implemented the handover procedure of EPC. Also, we analyze the cell range of the integrated LTE system with the addition of the node and compare the handover delay with the current system.

In some applications of wireless sensor networks, requirements such as energy efficiency, real-time, and reliable delivery need to be considered. In this paper, we propose a novel routing algorithm for wireless sensor networks. It provides real-time, reliable delivery of a packet, while considering energy awareness. In the proposed algorithm, a node estimates the energy cost, delay and reliability of a path to the sink node, based only on information from neighboring nodes. Then, it calculates the probability of selecting a path, using the estimates. When packet forwarding is required, it randomly selects the next node. A path with lower energy cost is likely to be selected, because the probability is inversely proportional to the energy cost to the sink node. To achieve real-time delivery, only paths that may deliver a packet in time are selected. To achieve reliability, it may send a redundant packet via an alternate path, but only if it is a source of a packet. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is suitable for providing energy efficient, real-time, reliable communications.

This paper addresses the design of trTCM (Two Rate Three Color Marker) described in RFC2698. It has proposed for trTCM to be used in Differentiated Service network that provides AF PHB (Assured Forwarding Per Hop Behavior). trTCM is the marker with the metering function, and consists of the token updating function and the marking function. The token updating function uses the dual token bucket. The marking function compares the token values with the length of input packet and then marks the result into IP QoS field (ToS field). In this paper, we design trTCM function and then addresses the scheme to implement it using FPGA technology.

In this paper, we propose an evenly distributed mesh scheme to support services in mobile ad-hoc networks. Two strategies, the adaptive upgrading of forwarding nodes and the adaptive downgrading of forwarding nodes, are presented in the scheme. Our proposed scheme can support construction of better multicast mesh that can give higher packet delivery ratio with lower duplicate data as well as solve the problem of serious congestion especially when node mobility and data transmission rate are high in mobile ad-hoc networks. The performance evaluation is performed via simulation using OPNET.

Node cooperation during packet forwarding operations is critically important for fair resource utilization in Community Wireless Mesh Networks (CoWMNs). In a CoWMN, node cooperation is achieved by using fairness protocols specifically designed to detect and isolate malicious nodes, discourage unfair behavior, and encourage node participation in forwarding packets. In general, these protocols can be split into two groups: Incentive-based ones, which are managed centrally, and use credit allocation schemes. In contrast, reputation-based protocols that are decentralized, and rely on information exchange among neighboring nodes. Centrally managed protocols inevitably suffer from scalability problems. The decentralized, reputation-based protocols lacks in detection capability, suffer from false detections and error propagation compared to the centralized, incentive-based protocols. In this study, we present a new fairness protocol management scheme, called Hybrid FPMS that captures the superior detection capability of incentive-based fairness protocols without the scalability problems inherently expected from a centralized management scheme as a network's size and density grows. Simulation results show that Hybrid FPMS is more efficient than the current centralized approach and significantly reduces the network delays and overhead.

Multihop data delivery in vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) suffers from the fact that vehicles are highly mobile and inter-vehicle links are frequently disconnected. In such networks, for efficient multihop routing of road safety information (e.g. road accident and emergency message) to the area of interest, reliable communication and fast delivery with minimum delay are mandatory. In this paper, we propose a multihop vehicle-to-infrastructure routing protocol named Vertex-Based Predictive Greedy Routing (VPGR), which predicts a sequence of valid vertices (or junctions) from a source vehicle to fixed infrastructure (or a roadside unit) in the area of interest and, then, forwards data to the fixed infrastructure through the sequence of vertices in urban environments. The well known predictive directional greedy routing mechanism is used for data forwarding phase in VPGR. The proposed VPGR leverages the geographic position, velocity, direction and acceleration of vehicles for both the calculation of a sequence of valid vertices and the predictive directional greedy routing. Simulation results show significant performance improvement compared to conventional routing protocols in terms of packet delivery ratio, end-to-end delay and routing overhead.
